Yammers thread 10!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

That was meant to say 'very regular' 🙄

cupcakesandglitter · 09/05/2019 10:46

@NotMaryWhitehouse sorry FP turned up 😩 x

NoseringGirl · 09/05/2019 11:21

@NotMaryWhitehouse ugh that's awful, so sorry lovely Thanks

NotMaryWhitehouse · 09/05/2019 13:09

@Nosering @cupcakes thank you.

When will this shit end????? Sigh.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 10/05/2019 17:22

Interesting experience at my acupuncture session this morning. We went through my temp chart for the past few weeks- compared it to a seven week period I recorded it in 2018 and it turns out WE'VE BEEN DOING IT WRONG!!!!!

It turns out I ovulate on day 18/19 and have a short luteal phase. Well fuck me. I just stared at her. I wish I'd had these appointments six more moths ago.

I am finding these sessions incredibly useful- if you're not recording your BBT, I would highly recommend it, obviously! If you're in the Yorkshire area, I would be happy to pass on details of the person I am seeing. She is defo on my Christmas card list.

NoseringGirl · 10/05/2019 18:10

Oh wow @NotMaryWhitehouse that's a useful thing to know! Do you put your temp data into fertility friend? I've found that really good for doing the working out for me!

impatientmammy · 10/05/2019 19:46

@NotMaryWhitehouse are you using OPKs as well? X

impatientmammy · 10/05/2019 20:11

Watching Eastenders and if that girls pregnant I'm gunna be sooo annoyed. 19 months 😩 I could have technically grown and gave birth to 2 children by now and the best thing I got was a chemical five months ago 😑 x

NoseringGirl · 11/05/2019 11:52

@impatientmammy and she had the implant! So frustrating how easily people in soaps seems to get pregnant. There's hardly ever fertility story lines and when there are, people get pregnant quickly anyway.
I can't imagine ever getting pregnant accidentally. Obviously it does happen but it just seems so alien to me. I was terrified of getting pregnant accidentally in my teens and early 20s. Don't know why I bothered worrying now!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 11/05/2019 18:35

@NoseringGirl I temped for two months last year, then got out of the habit when the battery died! I feel pretty stupid, truth be told, because it might have been the thing holding us back. I will certainly be keeping concise records from now on!

Recording in Ovia and some paper sheets the acupuncturist gave me so she can view it in a full month basis.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 11/05/2019 18:37

@impatientmammy I do- I have been using the cheap ones for some time - I was getting very high readings around day 13/14 and thought this must be my ov, since lots of other people said they never got a true positive either- but since I have never used them around day 18/19, I may have been missing it all along 🤪

I started to wonder if I was ov'ing later than expected when I used a clear blue version for the full ten days and it NEVER came up positive (days 8-17).

JustLikeTheySaid · 11/05/2019 19:03

Day 21 blood test shows I dont ovulate. Score of 21, needed to be 30+. Dont understand as I get positive ovulation tests every month and then my period comes 13 days later without fail. I cannot understand how I am not ovulating - I also get cramping pain mid cycle and sore boobs second half!

Positive is that my GP has now done the referral to the fertility clinic. I need to pick up the paperwork on Monday.

Feel like I could sit and howl tonight. DH sperm are shit, I apparently dont even ovulate, we are never going to make a baby.

NoseringGirl · 11/05/2019 19:33

@JustLikeTheySaid could they have done the test too early and your progesterone just hasn't risen enough yet? It's meant to be done at 7DPO but some GPs seem to assume that everyone has a 'standard' 28 day cycle and 14 day LP so test on CD21.

@NotMaryWhitehouse I find fertility friend really helpful as it works out for you when you've ovulated based on your temps. Makes life a lot easier!

JustLikeTheySaid · 11/05/2019 19:36

Thanks, but it was the right day (and actually taken on CD27 of a 34day cycle).

Googling has convinced me I have LUF because I always have an LH surge and then a period the same number of days later.

Has anyone tried the ovusense thingy? I am VERY tempted.......

NoseringGirl · 11/05/2019 20:00

I've got an Ava bracelet rather than ovusense. I was quite tempted by ovusense but went with Ava purely because I preferred the idea of putting something on my wrist Grin
I've heard really good things about ovusense though!

cupcakesandglitter · 11/05/2019 22:57

I've not tried either of those, sorry 😩 glad you got your referral though, it's a step in the right direction x

NotMaryWhitehouse · 12/05/2019 07:42

@JustLikeTheySaid I'm sorry, that sounds incredibly stressful, no wonder you're upset.

I'm surprised your GP told you that - mine said, and I quote, if you're having a regular -ish bleed, you're ovulating- maybe your progesterone is just not rising enough?

I am constantly surprised by the data that I am taking on board at the moment about my health. Definitely don't give up hope, a specialist may come along at your referral and explain things in a more detailed way that gives you a path to follow to get to pregnant. Remember- GPS are exactly that and definitely NOT fertility specialists!!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 12/05/2019 07:43

@Nosering I will download fertility friend- I am of the opinion that you cannot be too well informed! Thank you for the rec

JustLikeTheySaid · 12/05/2019 07:46

Thanks @NotMaryWhitehouse. I don't mean to disagree with my GP (she has saved my life on various other occasions!) but I am absolutely adamant that I am ovulating. Ovulation sticks go positive, my period comes 13/14 days later. Without fail.

I think it is much more likely that there is an issue with my progesterone not rising enough (like you said).

I bought an ovusense thing yesterday and two boxes of the isofolic sachets because hey, what have I got to lose?!?!

I desperately need to start dieting but it is impossible. History of an eating disorder, probably still an ongoing eating issue/disorder, I cannot restrict my food.

Sorry to come back to this thread after ages and then dump a load of negativity on it. Sending everyone positive wishes xx

NotMaryWhitehouse · 12/05/2019 07:52

THAT IS WHAT THIS THREAD IS FOR!!! NEVER apologise for venting.

The last doctor I saw at my GPs told me as long as I was having sex on the 14th, it would happen. Well, now I know that I sometimes ovulate on day 19, that clearly isn't true is it?

I know they are rushed, but I think sometimes it's best to just use them for referrals to the people who do this day in day out, because I don't have too much faith in them as diagnosticians!

cookielove · 12/05/2019 09:52

Pretty sure i am miscarrying! Sad

Will come back when i am ready!

SuziQ10 · 12/05/2019 10:14

Hello ladies, I haven't been on this thread since Feb I think. I'm now 11months+ ttc and still no luck.

Wondering if having lots of clots in (heavy) period each month indicates a problem.

I think it's time to book the dreaded doctors appointment to find out what's going on. It says online that for anyone under 30 you have to wait a year before going to the GP. I'm 29, 11 months must be enough?

JustLikeTheySaid · 12/05/2019 12:58

SuziQ, they will never know if you say it is 12months. Dont worry. Mine referred me for blood tests at 8 months of proper trying, 14 months off contraception.

NoseringGirl · 12/05/2019 20:04

@JustLikeTheySaid don't apologise! It's so important to have somewhere to vent! Let us know how you get on with the ovusense!
I can relate to not wanting to restrict food. I had some therapy for disordered eating a while back and got in a really good place but it's all gone down hill again. My weight has been so up and down my whole adult life and I know it has a negative impact on my fertility/PCOS. I've just started reading about intuitive eating and I'm hoping that will help in general!

@cookielove I'm so sorry to hear that, sending you lots of love. You know we're here when you're ready Thanks

@SuziQ10 I find it varies with GPs but for the sake of weeks, I would just say a year when you go in! Good luck with the appointment!

CD6 here and still bleeding steadily, I guess after 3 months of no bleeding, it's going to go on a little longer than usual!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 13/05/2019 06:54
