Yammers thread 10!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Speaking of vents. I just need need to rant about my stupid cycle. Look at it! I've had two positive OPKs this cycle but my ovaries just can't do it. They're like one of those old cars that cuts out on it's way up a hill. Useless!
Temps are all over the place as well. They're all accurate as I use an Ava bracelet rather than a thermometer. So my hormones are just that bad. FFS.

Yammed if you do, Yammed if you dont
cupcakesandglitter · 23/03/2019 17:46

Ah man @NoseringGirl CD53 as well?! Is it low progesterone that causes low temps I think I've read somewhere? My temps haven't ever gone above coverline so I'm with you there completely, it's shit. My doc sort of just shrugged it off with me (we're not quite at a year yet so have to wait). What have yours said? X

NoseringGirl · 23/03/2019 19:34

@cupcakesandglitter I have PCOS so I'm just not ovulating at the moment. My cycles were regular for a while until I had an early miscarriage (would've been due next week) and my cycles went all over the place again. I've only ovulated once since. Progesterone is released after ovulation and causes the temp rise. As I'm not ovulating, I don't get a temp rise. Are your cycles regular but your temps just don't go up?

cupcakesandglitter · 23/03/2019 21:03

@NoseringGirl ah man, sorry to hear that - are you doing anything next week to 'try' and take your mind off them? Is it clomid they prescribe to help ovulate? Are they going to do anything about it? Nope I'm irregular too. Then I was sort of regular until my CP in December. Now mine are irregular again too, literally no idea when AF is due I guess... Longest cycle I've had is 38 days I think? But I've never actually had any indication I've ovulated. When I had my bloods done last year, my CD21 bloods showed that I was about to ovulate apparently, but within the same week I had a nearly positive OPK and then AF started a few days after 🤷🏻‍♀️ apparently nothing to worry about according to my GP 🙄

NoseringGirl · 23/03/2019 21:12

@cupcakesandglitter I would maybe see a different GP! How did they know you were about to ovulate from the blood test? Did they measure the LH levels as well as the progesterone?
I had clomid when we were TTC DS1. I'm very lucky to have two children but it's been a battle to conceive both of them. I sometimes feel like I'm pushing my luck trying for a third and like a bit of a fraud on threads like this!
DS2 was just metformin, I was about to be prescribed clomid again when I fell pregnant with him.
Clomid worked really well for me once I was on the right dose. The side effects were a bit like month long PMT but it was all worth it!
I'm sorry you had a loss too. We're planning to spend the day at the beach (we live on the coast) as DH has the day off work so that will be nice.

cupcakesandglitter · 23/03/2019 21:37

@NoseringGirl they wouldn't tell me anything 😩 I do really really like my gp, I've got a couple of other health problems and he's always taken me completely seriously thank god. His issue is because I've not been trying for a year he can't do much more yet - he did tell DH to go back to his docs and have SA but DH has just put it to the back of his mind I guess for now 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I don't think you're a fraud at all, I hate that it's seen that way, you're incredibly lucky to have two BUT that doesn't mean you haven't struggled to have them and aren't still struggling for a third. Someone on another thread mentioned the progesterone is crazy with the symptoms, guess I may have all of this to look forward to 😩 it's nice that you live on the coast though, sounds like a nice bit of peace really and hopefully you'll be feeling strong next week and supported xx

NoseringGirl · 23/03/2019 21:49

@cupcakesandglitter thanks lovely! I'm glad your GP is otherwise supportive. It's frustrating how different GPs can be depending on where you are and the differing levels of knowledge they have. The first time I went to a GP for fertility issues they told me I was definitely ovulating because I was having periods. They didn't know breakthrough bleeding from anovulatory cycles was a thing. GPs tend to have different areas of interest. Mine have them listed on their website so when I go for my PCOS, I always go to the GP with the interest in women's health and she's been brilliant.

todaywasafairytale · 24/03/2019 13:02

Welcome @PaintingOwls! Everything you said resonates here. It's a really rough journey 😕

todaywasafairytale · 24/03/2019 13:02

@BGDino congratulations!

Owlpatrol · 24/03/2019 19:39

Oh rant away @NoseringGirl any news today?

I've totally ignored my cycle this month other than the odd check into ovia 🤷‍♀️

We have managed three times this fw so one more than usual, I've also been eating a lot of sweet potatoes (yams! Lol) this cycle due to dieting so let's watch this space!

Decided to wax my lip tonight random I know but I was like I do have some unsightly hair but I have already been tested for pcos but I wondered anyone who has pcos can you have tests specifically for pcos or did you just find out throught the regular fertility blood tests? Also, did anyone find out yeh they were a teenager? I'm thinking, I should have known by now right?

NoseringGirl · 24/03/2019 20:13

@Owlpatrol I'd already had one baby and a ton of fertility testing and three rounds of clomid before I found out I had PCOS. I was 32! The first time round I was told my fertility issues were caused by high prolactin and they went straight to clomid.
I was diagnosed after blood tests and an ultrasound. I had some cysts but cysts aren't actually needed to diagnose the syndrome and you can also have cysts without having the syndrome. One of the things that made the gynaecologist investigate PCOS was the massive difference between my LH levels and FSH levels. They should be roughly equal at CD3 but my LH was a lot higher. I think there's a list of PCOS symptoms and if you cover a certain amount then it leads to a diagnosis.

I've had some spotting today so I think AF is on the way. Will be good to start a new cycle!

goldflakepaint · 25/03/2019 23:21

@BGDino Many congrats, hope you're doing well.

@PaintingOwls Welcome, I recognise you from other threads. Gloom and doom definitely okay by me, ttc and all the feelings it brings can be so isolating so having a place to vent and seek moral support is really important. I know what you're saying about work- I have started applying for jobs as I need a new challenge but its not ideal with ttc. Wishing you the best of luck for this cycle!

@Noseringgirl How long does your spotting usually last? Here's to the next cycle, I'm crossing my fingers for a nice new chart for you!

I'm on a weird one. Technically late to start af, on 17dpo- I never go past 14dpo. BUT I have had spotting from 13dpo to yesterday- appears to have stopped now. Spotting is nothing new for me but normally af follows. Too chicken to poas again yet. Plus dp looked at my chart today- he has a PhD in statistics- and thinks that ff may have got my o date wrong and that I actually o'd a few days later. In which case, af will be due tomorrow. I don't know. I don't feel that hopeful because of all the spotting- and if it is implantation, isn't 13dpo quite late?- but there is a part of me that can't help but dream.

I need to get to sleep. Need to stop checking for af. I'll see what happens tomorrow.

NoseringGirl · 25/03/2019 23:33

@goldflakepaint spotting can be really variable for me. Sometimes I don't get it at all, sometimes I get it for a couple of days and then AF starts, sometimes I get it randomly in the middle of an anovulatory cycle and then nothing again for ages.
I hope your spotting is a good sign for you! If your DP is right about your ovulation being a bit later then maybe it's the right time for implantation? Good luck!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 26/03/2019 06:12

Has anyone used clear blue ovulation tests and been fairly sure they had ovulated (CM, etc) but not actually got a positive on a test? I feel even worse now ☹️

todaywasafairytale · 26/03/2019 18:08

For those who temp track what app do you use?

cookielove · 26/03/2019 19:18

I started temping 3 days ago, but have been using opks for years. I use Ovia!

NoseringGirl · 26/03/2019 19:46

@todaywasafairytale I use far too many Blush fertility friend is by far my favourite though. I've been using it since 2011 and I love it. I really enjoy all the analysis tools and that it pinpoints ovulation for you. I'm a data geek and can spend ages playing with that app!

NoseringGirl · 26/03/2019 19:48

@NotMaryWhitehouse I don't always get positives on OPKs even when I do ovulate. I haven't used the digitals ones much though as I tend to have irregular cycles so it gets too expensive!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 26/03/2019 20:34

@NoseringGirl thanks, glad it's not just me. Really feeling it at this month, feel very down with it all.

Owlpatrol · 26/03/2019 22:02

I've not used opks this month just tried to dtd around the right time. Currently suffering with gas and acne on my chest.. ? Weird! It would be amazing to get a bfp for mothers day but also no idea why after 2.5 years itd randomly happen! May test Friday as got drinking planned for weekend. Fp due next Tuesday. Anyone else testing this week?

BGDino · 27/03/2019 10:15

I’ve started bleeding unfortunately so strongly suspect I’m miscarrying a day away from 5 weeks. Was scheduled for a HCG blood test tomorrow but think I already know what the answer is going to be 🙁

NotMaryWhitehouse · 27/03/2019 12:24

@BGDino sorry to hear that, how stressful for you, I shall keep my fingers crossed for a positive outcome. Take it easy.

NoseringGirl · 27/03/2019 14:45

I'm so sorry to hear that @BGDino take care of yourself Thanks

todaywasafairytale · 27/03/2019 19:01

@BGDino so, so sorry to hear that. Please look after yourself 💕

cupcakesandglitter · 27/03/2019 19:14

Sorry to hear that @BGDino 😩Thanks xx
