Yammers thread 10!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Just been to fertility clinic to pick up progesterone pessaries and asked them what Tuesday’s blood test is for. It’s to check progesterone levels... too low and it probably means ovulation didn’t happen meaning no pregnancy... I feel sick just thinking about it.

Fizzy13 · 06/03/2019 18:40

@inpatientmammy I can understand that. It's hard not to put stuff on hold but from experience its not a good idea!
We're off skiing in a few weeks and I'm really looking forward to a real break. (The chalet has a nanny for the 3 year old!)
Unfortunately period due on the last day so that won't be fun. But can't win them all!

JustLikeTheySaid · 06/03/2019 21:25

Argh. Husband's sperm results show 2% normal morphology. Should be more like 4%. GP wants to redo the test and she didn't seem too worried. I am trying not to obsessively Google.

Period started today which means my 21 day bloods were one day too early, grrrrrrrrrr.... will need to see if that it a problem. Might need to do it again next month.

NoseringGirl · 06/03/2019 21:45

@JustLikeTheySaid my husband had 2% morphology back in 2012 when he was tested and we've managed to have two children despite that (and my PCOS) so there's hope! What was his overall count like? If there's no concerns with that then morphology isn't necessarily as important. It only takes one good one!

Hi everyone, I have been lurking on this (and the previous thread) on and off and have decided to make an appearance. I recognise some names on here. I'm currently on cycle 13 (cd7) and had to take a bit of time to process the fact that we've been trying for a year and are now at the point of fertility testing. Like everyone else in this position, I never expected to get to this point. But trying to stay positive and optimistic whilst trying not to let the struggle overtake my life- as I promised DP on his birthday, I am trying harder not to forget all the things that we currently have in the pursuit of what we do not yet have. But on some days that is easier said than done.

We are currently waiting for DP to hear back about a SA and I have appointment with the GP on Saturday- I have previously had some blood tests and a ultrasound done (all normal except small intramural fibroid) so not sure if they will want to repeat that or not. I'm sure that I'll have some questions for the people here who have gone through fertility testing at some point. And stand in solidarity with those who are at the same stage we are! Good luck to everyone.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 07/03/2019 05:53

Hi all, me and OH have just about reached the 1 year mark (this month is cycle 12, We started TTC in March last year).

Chemical last July, nothing since, except for excessive symptom spotting. Fairly miserable about the whole thing, pretty fucked off. Have been pregnant twice now (one abortion many years ago, plus the chemical), so I know what I 'feel like' when pg in the TWW, which makes the second week dreadful and weepy when it know it hasn't happened).

I'm going to make an appointment to see my GP this week to try and get the ball rolling.

NoseringGirl · 07/03/2019 15:21

Hello @goldflakepaint and good luck for your appointment. I hope you can get a plan in place with the GP for moving forward.

@NotMaryWhitehouse sorry to hear about your chemical. I also had one last July and nothing since. Good luck for your GP appointment too.

I went back to the GP today after seeing her a few months ago and agreeing to see if my cycles returned to normal on their own. They haven't so she's sending me for a scan and speaking to the endocrinologist about restarting me on metformin for my PCOS. It helped last time so hoping it'll be just as good this time!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 07/03/2019 16:12

@NoseringGirl I hope it gets things moving in the right direction for you.

Thanks for your good wishes/ it helps to know I'm not the only one feeling like this!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 07/03/2019 16:12

@NoseringGirl and sorry about your chemical too, it SUCKED. Close, but no cigar!

BGDino · 08/03/2019 07:10

Officially broken. Taking 7 weeks off because my depression's too bad for me to be at work. No idea what I'm going to do with the time. Will probably have gone through a second treatment cycle by the time I go back if this one doesn't work out. I have never wanted something to go my way so badly in my entire life.

... we have managed to DTD every day since Tuesday (got trigger shot Monday)

Fizzy13 · 08/03/2019 09:40

I'm so sorry it's tough @BGDino.
Try to look after yourself. Are you crafty? Could you learn to crochet or something? Watch sewing bee and decide you're going to make a swimsuit? Sometimes I just need to take my mind off life and focussing on something even for an hour can really help.
I'm not suggesting for a minute that knitting solves everything. I know how all encompassing this is.
I'm trying to be brave and I'm meeting my pregnant friend this weekend. Haven't seen her since she told me her news and I'm dreading it.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 08/03/2019 13:41

@BGDino I'm sorry, it's so hard. You have my sympathies. Do you get anything out of being outdoors? I always feel better after fresh air/ gardening/walking/cycling. Gives me a bit of a sense of purpose.

I say this as someone who does not especially suffer with depression btw, so apologies if this is unhelpful.

HelloBrass · 08/03/2019 14:57

Hello, may I join?

TTC #1, cycle 8, 35.

I've had one CD21 blood test which showed my progesterone was slightly low at 26. Then had an appt with the GP, and she didn't really explain what that meant. Dr Google suggest I may not be ovulating if it's below 30. GP says they don't order CD2-4 blood test. I have another CD21 lined up in a couple of weeks, and DH has his initial appt for SA. Apparently he has to do in for this appt before the schedule the test. I hope there isn't too long a wait for it.

My BMI is now 27.2 (it's crept on over the last year or so) so I'm into overweight range, but with everything going on I just don't have the willpower to shift it. I really want to though, and have read that low progesterone may not be helping my metabolism.

I'm feeling helpless and despondent today. It's lovely to find this supportive group, and I look forward to getting to know you all.

Inthesky42 · 08/03/2019 15:38

Please can I join?

9DPO cycle 8 TTC #1

Didn't realise how difficult this was gonna be! Got properly low last month as was certain I was PG but AF reared her ugly head as usual.

Love your opening rules! My kinda chat!

Sending good wishes to all

cookielove · 08/03/2019 16:59

Hello to the newbies, Although i am only a newbie myself. Dipped my toe in last week and then had such a busy week i failed to post at all Blush Blush

Well my opk's let me down and i missed my peak, so thats annoying we did dtd one time in my "fertile" week but i felt unwell so i am a bit meh about this month.

@Fizzy13 i feel your pain. A work colleague is pregnant and her due date is 5 days before more last miscarriage. Every day i am 😥😡

NoseringGirl · 08/03/2019 20:32

@BGDino I hope the time off can give you the space to take care of yourself and get through this process as best you can. Keeping everything crossed for you.

@HelloBrass did your GP say why they don't do the CD3 testing? Seems a bit odd!
Hope your stay here is a short one now you've got the ball rolling with the GP.

@Inthesky42 welcome! Sorry to hear you're struggling too. All the best!

@cookielove that must be really difficult. The due date of my miscarriage is coming up and I'm really struggling with it.

I had a call from my GP today and got the go ahead to go back on metformin and was able to collect it from the pharmacy straight away. Started it this evening and I'm excited but nervous about the side effects.

BGDino · 09/03/2019 04:33

@NoseringGirl metformin completely doesn't agree with me... constant nausea and diarrhoea after I ate anything... never got above 500mg daily. Would have worked if I stopped eating I suppose! Hmm

@NotMaryWhitehouse @Fizzy13 so far my list of things to do is: swimming, making dinner for my husband, trying new baking recipes, reading lots of books, going to the cinema, going to all my medical appointments (I think I have at least one a week!)

Welcome @goldflakepaint @NotMaryWhitehouse @HelloBrass @Inthesky42

Inthesky42 · 09/03/2019 08:42

Started with OPKs last month as had previously been timing around the flo ap but that obviously hadn't worked. Got one questionable positive CD12 so we DTD the morning after...

I've been worrying I've got problems with ovulation. It's frustrating that the Dr isn't interested until we've been trying a year (I'm 33)

It sounds like a lot of you know an awful lot about various different fertility issues. Do you think I should worry yet?

NoseringGirl · 09/03/2019 09:10

@BGDino the side effects were pretty rough last time I was in it but only for the first couple of weeks and then it eased off. I asked for extended release this time as it's supposed to be less harsh. We'll see!

@Inthesky42 I never trust the apps that just work on the calendar method as it wont tell you anything about your individual cycles. I very rarely get blazing positive OPKs even when I have ovulated but I also got a positive earlier this cycle and definitely didn't ovulate. The only thing other than medical tests I trust to give me an indication about whether I've ovulated in temping. Have you tried that?

HelloBrass · 09/03/2019 11:58

@NoseringGirl The GP just looked at me blankly when I mentioned the CD3 test. I have a friend who has had two rounds of IVF locally & she's never had CD3 bloods taken at all. It seems to vary to widely from Trust to Trust. I've heard of others who get scans and all sorts from their GP.

I don't know whether to look into having more investigations done privately or wait for the referral and see what the fertility team say.

BGDino · 09/03/2019 12:19

So I had my trigger shot on Monday which is supposed to make me ovulate... just now I noticed mild crampy pain in my lower abdomen in the middle... I don't have any UTI symptoms, surgical registrar husband couldn't come up with any answers and neither could Dr Google... is this a bad sign?

NoseringGirl · 09/03/2019 12:24

@BGDino I think progesterone can cause cramping during the luteal phase. I often get cramps well before AF is due. I had dreadful ones for a week before I found out I was pregnant with DS2.

@HelloBrass the fertility team might well do them. I'm constantly surprised by the differences in areas and even individual GPs. My GP prescribed me clomid when we were TTC the first time round. It's only later on that I found out how unusual and rare it was for a GP to prescribe it.

Chooklass · 09/03/2019 13:38

@BGDino I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time. I another advocate of crafty things for de-stressing and filling my time. I've also signed up to a challenge to walk 5 miles every day in March!

I've been on progesterone tablets for 8 days and have definitely been getting odd cramps. It's my first cycle on them and I'm finding it really odd not knowing what's going on in my body. Usually I'd be around 4 days away from FP, and I know how that makes me feel, but I've no idea how the prog is affecting that this month! Trying not to get all exited about the pregnancy symptoms as I know it's just the prog ... bah.

todaywasafairytale · 11/03/2019 19:31

Hello, how is everyone? It's the start of a new week, trying to be positive. Positive mind positive life and all that 🙈

cupcakesandglitter · 11/03/2019 20:45

Hey yammers. @todaywasafairytale I've not been on here in a while - no real updates other than I'm back in the TTC game. It's been driving me crazy 'relaxing' (I'm a total control freak with zero patience to just wait it out). So we're back!! Hopefully going to start smep/similar soon!! How're you?

@BGDino sorry you're having such a crappy time 😩

How is everyone doing? I've tried to briefly skim over what I've missed and I'm back for good now - promise I'll make more of an effort!! Xx
