Hi all! My husband and I have decided to start trying, I’m 24 and this is our first time! How long did it take for everyone? I understand it’s different for every person but I love hearing people’s stories!

DC1 9 years and 5 IVF cycles (donor eggs)

DC2 huge surprise when DS was 9 months old

Drizz · 03/01/2019 20:33

DC1 - just over three years til on-going pregnancy, one mc along the way, a frostie after unsuccessful fresh IVF
Accidental pregnancy + mc when DC was 1
DC 2 - the next frostie from that by now v successful IVF round
DC 3 - happy accident when we weren't careful when DC 2 was 1
When this baby is turning 1 we'll be very careful, we are so grateful but our house is full and we're both turning 40 soon...

@Kaytee87 it is. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it and I’m constantly blaming myself!! If only I’d took the test sooner I would’ve been taken out of calls that involve heavy lifting and put onto easier calls instead. But I didn’t I stupidly waited 6 weeks till I tested. I only found out 2 days before Xmas but I was so so happy and then in the blink of an eye it was all over. How can you miss something so bad when you only knew about it for a couple of days!! I don’t think my fella is accepting it, he won’t talk about just changes the subject. Thankfully I have a fantastic work colleague and Friend who sat with me talking until the early hours, cuddled me and let me cry on her shoulder when I’ve needed to. I’m trying to work as much as possible to take my mind off it but I’m also burning myself out. I had a massive panic attack last night, its worn me out because my panic attacks turn into full blown seizure like episodes. I feel like I’ve been run over by a Truck today

@Lozz22 I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, but please don't blame yourself. There is no evidence that heavy lifting causes miscarriage Flowers

18 months

Age 28, 3rd cycle off pill got my BFP (was on the pill for 8 years before). Currently 24 weeks.

Had one miscarriage prior to this pregnancy but years ago. Used clear blue ovulation tests during the month we conceived and would recommend in case you don't ovulate when you think - I was way off in the months before!

Teachermummy83 · 05/01/2019 20:14

So sorry to hear that’s @Lozz22. I completely get how devastated you must be and just because you only knew for a couple of days doesn’t make it any easier. We had a chemical in September - waiting years to try (due to financial problems and both of our work situations) then trying for 18 months, we were over the moon to get our BFP. I howled like a baby when it was taken away a few days later. So, so hard and I felt I couldn’t tell anyone or be upset because it wasn’t a ‘proper’ pregnancy. It just hurt so much though. 😢 I know it’s no conciliation, but Im sure it will happen for you again. Take time for yourself now though. xxx

8 months first pregnancy, which ended in a MC bang on 12 weeks mid October just gone (same week as baby loss awareness week and the royal birth announcement too which was not a great feeling) ...BUT I have just found out I'm pregnant again, (around 4 weeks now so very early days) so this time would have taken 2 months/first proper cycle after MC. I have a long cycle and I think the first time few months TTC we may have been juuust missing ovulation as according to the tests I ovulate later than I'd have guessed. Both times we tried with positive ovulation tests we conceived, so if you haven't already maybe grab a pack! Good luck trying :)

About 11 months. I used the Flo app which helped but I often get periods every 2 weeks which obviously made it difficult.

Currently 35 weeks pregnant so hoping the pregnancy has “fixed” me

MaryShelley1818 · 06/01/2019 05:52

Stopped the pill end of November and got my BFP early April. Age 39 so very lucky.
That little boy is currently lying next to me in bed (13mths) and I stopped my pill end of November again. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

mamasiz · 06/01/2019 05:57

I was 32 - I had a copper IUD and got pregnant the first time we dtd after it was removed. I was incredibly lucky. Hoping for a similar result next year.

autumnboys · 06/01/2019 06:33

Dc1 - first month of trying, age 27
Dc2&3 - second month of trying aged 29 & then 33.

My family history is split quite sharply between the ridiculously fecund & the devastatingly infertile. As a teen/newly wed I feared I would fall into the second category, but was lucky (and so glad I’d never let it make me careless with contraception).

ellesbellesxxx · 06/01/2019 07:01

2.5 years and a round of IVF

Had twins which made the waiting worthwhile

Mamabear12 · 06/01/2019 10:26

Dc1 and dc2 it took one try and first try. Now a few years later we are trying for a third and it has not been as easy! Although, we haven’t been trying every month or more then once a month. I’m hoping it will happen soon and we didn’t leave it too late.

vdbfamily · 06/01/2019 10:32

Got married a virgin and came home from honeymoon pregnant so quite possibly conceived the first time I ever had sex.

starfishy · 06/01/2019 12:19

First pregnancy took 8 months (ended in mmc).
Then 2nd pregnancy took 16 months. Conceived after 1st cycle of clomid. Due in June Smile
