Hi all! My husband and I have decided to start trying, I’m 24 and this is our first time! How long did it take for everyone? I understand it’s different for every person but I love hearing people’s stories!

It took me a year. Found out I was pregnant the day after we went to the gp to get my husband's sperm tested as we thought chemo may have left him infertile x

Teachermummy83 · 03/01/2019 01:36

20 months. We had a chemical after 17 months then our, hopefully sticky bean last month. I’d decided that December was to be our last cycle before biting the bullet and seeing my gp to begin investigating why it was taking so long. Fingers crossed this one goes the distance. It can be a long and tricky task 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

About 20 mins for first one. Happened on only try, first month trying.

About 13 months for second. Had three early miscarriages in between.

The key is timing- you can only get pregnant on about 3/4 days of your cycle and the 2 days before ovulation you have the highest chance. After that is down to how fertile you both are and whether you are prone to miscarriages etc.

I conceived ds 2 weeks after coming off the pill. We were extremely fortunate.

kaytee87 · 03/01/2019 07:53

We conceived ds about 2 months after getting married/trying.

Just started ttc #2 this month.

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 03/01/2019 08:11

1st was within 6weeks of coming off the pill.

2nd was after about 5 cycles of trying (we held off for a couple of months to avoid a Christmas/New Year baby but it ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks.

Have just got bfp for 3rd, after trying since aug/sept.

I count myself very very lucky to be able to conceive naturally. I know a few who have had IVF and I don't think anyone can understand how that feels unless you go through it. Especially to have an IVF pregnancy fail, it must be so hard with so much invested in it.

24 is very young, you have a good chance of it happening for you soon and plenty of time for investigations if it doesn't.

Best of luck OP!

4 years, just when I was thinking it would never happen naturally.

Mrsmummy90 · 03/01/2019 10:37

We have been very lucky.
First time with our dd and we are pregnant again and don't know how! We didn't dtd anywhere near my ovulation lol.

Mrsmummy90 · 03/01/2019 10:45

Oh, also I was 27 when trying for dd and I'm now 28 and 12 weeks pregnant. Have first scan next Thursday. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok!

AlBeGa · 03/01/2019 10:49

3-4 months. 28 years old and I have PCOS.

Stormwhale · 03/01/2019 10:54

Dc1 - first month of trying
Dc2 - second month of trying.

I have pcos, and was told I would need fertility treatment when I wanted to have children. Apparently not!

InDreamland · 03/01/2019 11:08

Thank you @planespotting

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 03/01/2019 11:10

I came off the pill 8th August, got my bfp on 27th October. I'm currently 13+1 with my first
Good luck

EKGEMS · 03/01/2019 11:13

The first month off the birth control pill

ZoeRoma · 03/01/2019 12:23

It took us about 4 or 5 months of active trying when I was 40. We'd not been preventing pregnancy for a few months before then, but we hadn't been living together, so it was all a bit hit and miss on timing. We have a very healthy little boy.

Stephisaur · 03/01/2019 18:17

We conceived on my 2nd cycle at 26.

Good luck, hope it doesn’t take too long for you! :)

Owlpatrol · 03/01/2019 18:32
