Anyone else fresh off the pill!?

Hi ladies!
As my DH and i habe decided to TTC I took the last pill in my packet on 17th December and had my breakthrough bleed start on the 22nd and end on the 26th. Now the wait begins to see whether my cycle snaps back to normal and of course whether I concieve! I had been on microgynon for circa 3 years.

Is anyone else in a similar position and entering 2019 pill free!? I thought this would be a good place to track and share our experiences as they happen!

@Mycrazylife85
What pill were you on and for how long?

I was on it for 12 years and didn't get a bleed after stopping at the end of March until last weekend (1st in May) I did the opk earlier out of curiosity as I've heard when ov'ing you're body makes you want to dtd and it definitely does!

I know a few people who have taken a good few months for their bodies to become more regular again.

Haha yes that is a silver lining 😁
Did you get bad pms before the pill?

Mycrazylife85 · 15/05/2019 12:46

@Abi58 I had the really think for this one. It was Marvelon. I was on cilest before that and dianette when I first went on it. I was on the pill for 17 years and didn't get a break so I expected it to be a bit of time but must admit, I thought it'd be quicker than 74 days. I didn't get particularly bad PMS but certainly more 'edgy' than I feel now. I feel tons better without it, just hoping that my periods will be a little shorter than every two and a half months. I'll give it a few more months and go and see the doctor if I haven't had another. I know I've got PCOS (diagnosed at 16) but wanted to discount it just 'being what happens sometimes' as I know a delay returning to normal does happen
HmmConfusedHmm I don't want to seem too over-the-top too soon

Abi58 · 15/05/2019 12:58

@Mycrazylife85
Snap! I was on dianet for my skin then after a few years went onto marvelon. You were in them for a long time and everyone is different with how long it takes to bounce back. If you're at all worried or just want answer go to the dr ASAP just to put your mind at rest. I'm not sure what effect PCOS has but there might be something the dr can give or advise to help get things back on track faster? Worth going sooner rather than later 🙂

Hi ladies

I hope you won’t mind me jumping on the bandwagon! Have spent the best part of an hour catching up with this thread.

I'm 27, have been on various different pills for past 11 years. Stopped my pill on 12th May and am just finishing up my breakthrough bleed now. Might sound a bit bonkers but we are hoping to get pregnant a bit later in the year as we are going on an extended holiday to Australia in mid January so don’t want to be too pregnant for that.

Sorry to go on a bit but for a bit of back story, DH works away in the summer. Last year he was away for 8 weeks so I stopped my pill while he was away and I had my breakthrough bleed but then nothing (restarted the pill when he got home)!! So that’s why I’m stopping the pill a bit earlier than planned so I can see what my cycle is going to be like (I expect to be waiting around quite a while for af!).

Abi58 · 19/05/2019 20:31

Hi @Maddy0405

Everyone is different but it's good if you have the time and ability to let things settle so you know where you are.

We started trying immediately (as in not checking anything but just seeing what happened)

I got my withdrawal late or 1st af just over 1 month after last pill and as I was keen to knownif I was getting back to normal I used opks and had a positive one a few days before the apps predicted. Now 5dpo and waiting to see what happens 😁🤞🏻

Maddy0405 · 19/05/2019 20:58

When did you stop taking the pill @Abi58?

I’ll keep you posted on af and I’ll look forward to seeing everyone else’s updates 😁

Abi58 · 19/05/2019 22:31

@Maddy0405
I took the last pills towards the end of March and had the first bleed / af 1st weekend in May and ovulated this cycle 😁

Didn't have a withdrawal bleed though which was odd as mine were always clockwork!

Hoping87 · 20/05/2019 20:57

Hi guys hope you’re all well..just wanted to share with you all, don’t panic about not getting your periods back to normal...it will happen! Xx

DaniX91 · 22/05/2019 17:29

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining but I'd love to hear your journeys!

I was taking Cerelle for 11/12 years.
Stopped taking it on 10th May and have had nothing but a few cramps since.
I've done ovulation tests the past 4 mornings and had nothing but negatives.

Just wondering how long it took you to have a bleed once you'd stopped the pill?

Mycrazylife85 · 22/05/2019 17:40

@DaniX91 74 days and the second cycle I'm currently on day 44. 😳 stopped in January and got my first period on April... ☹️

DaniX91 · 22/05/2019 17:50

@Mycrazylife85 did you have any symptoms while waiting for your period? It's so frustrating cos I expected to bleed after like 3 or 4 days!

Mycrazylife85 · 22/05/2019 19:54

@DaniX91 for the whole time I felt emotionally balanced and better than before, had lots of on off cramping throughout that the 74 days in either of my ovaries, and sore boobs on and off but nothing glaring obviously before. Then when it did arrive it was very light too 🤷‍♀️

DaniX91 · 22/05/2019 21:35

@Mycrazylife85 yea I'm feeling generally in a better mood! Haven't had sore boobs yet, suppose I'm only on day 12 though. I'm taking the cramp as a positive ha atleast something is happening 🤷🏼‍♀️

Maddy0405 · 23/05/2019 11:04

@danix91 we stopped the pill about the same sort of time then. I think it can be quite normal to not have a bleed straight away after stopping the mini pill. I have a feeling we might have a bit of a wait on our hands for our proper cycles to return!! How long is too long though?!

DaniX91 · 23/05/2019 12:50

@Maddy0405 oh did u! Exactly, how long is too long?! I think about a month 😂 I'm very impatient though! Have you had cramp or anything?

DaniX91 · 24/05/2019 17:48

@Maddy0405 me again! Just an update, I'm not feeling as impatient today as I did an ovulation test this morning and got a flashing smiley! Are u testing?

Did anyone else start ovulation testing once they came off the pill even if they hadn't had a bleed?

Anyone else fresh off the pill!?
Kinsella82 · 24/05/2019 18:19

@DaniX91 I got my solid smiley this morning so I'm delighted after a long ten day wait of flashing smileys! This is my second month using the CB opks. I did two months using internet cheapies which never really gave me much cliue to be honest. This is my fifth cycle so hoping it's the one.

DaniX91 · 24/05/2019 19:16

@Kinsella82 hey, hoping this is the cycle for u! I've got some tests off the internet as I've only got 5 or 6 clear blues left and can't keep spending on them!
How long after stopping your pill did u bleed? I haven't bled at all.

DaniX91 · 25/05/2019 10:43

@Kinsella82 I got my solid smiley this morning, so we're pretty much at the same stage! DTD last night so 🤞🏼

Kinsella82 · 25/05/2019 14:20

@DaniX91 that's fantastic you've got your smiley without a bleed even!!! Get busy today!!
I had a withdrawal bleed about 3 days after stopping the pill and then cycles were 27, 37, 33, 28 after that. So id say they might even still be settling down as yesterday was cd20 so I reckon I'm looking at another 33-35 day cycle if all works out.
Fingers crossed for both of us.
On my last pregnancy I got pregnant before I had any bleed at all after coming off the pill so it's def possible so I hope that's what happens you now. Great that you're ovulating.

DaniX91 · 25/05/2019 15:42

@Kinsella82 aw I'm hoping this is the cycle for u then!
Really?! How many days after stopping your pill did u find out that u were pregnant?
Was everything ok with the pregnancy if u don't mind me asking?
I worry that things might not go aswell if I get pregnant without a bleed.

Kinsella82 · 25/05/2019 15:58

@DaniX91 he's a healthy 4.5 year old now and it was a great smooth pregnancy, labour and birth. Thank god.
Only problem at the time was dating the pregnancy because I didn't have a period date to go by but had an early scan to date the pregnancy and then all was fine.
I stopped the pill on Nov 17th 2013 and didn't even think of cycles etc at the time b cause I was waiting for the bleed first. But on the 6th of Feb 2014 something felt odd with my emotions (I was in tears for no reason that day!) and so I didn't a pregnancy test and it was positive. I would've been about five weeks pregnant at that that state.
