Hello everyone
This is my first time posting on a forum but I just thought I would add my experience, as when I came off bc I couldn't find many people in the same situation. I stopped taking the pill (microgynon) which I had been on for about 10 years, in Dec 17 (I was 27) as I'd heard it could take a few months to get back to normal before ttc, which we were planning to do in about April. I had my usual withdrawal bleed, then nothing.
At three months I spoke to my GP who said come back at six months if nothing, so when six months came and no af I went back and he ran a few bloods, all seemed ok. He explained it can take time, and also thought that my body may be acting oddly as my father passed away the year before and I hadnt outwardly seemed to grieve. Anyway, he basically said as tests were ok get back in touch in Dec. This was quite frustrating as we were really ready to ttc, but with no sign of AF I wasn't even sure if there was point! I also had a pelvic ultrasound (for other reasons) and ovaries and uterus looked good, so that was a relief.
December came and went with nothing (before a boozy weekend I would do a hpt just to make sure!) so mid Jan he ran more bloods and was deciding whether to send me to the fertility specialists or the endocrinologists. On the 30/01 AF FINALLY ARRIVED! I'd never been so blooming happy. So in my experience, it took 13 months. I'm not saying this to stress anyone out, but just wanted to let it be known that seriously delayed af can happen, even with healthy test results.
I'm cd39 now I think, and no sign of af and bfn, but I'm almost certain it will be another long cycle (fingers crossed it's not another year!) We've been dtd a fair amount this month, but I haven't been temping or using opks really, which I probably should. I've done quite a few hpts in the hope that I have ov'd and got incredibly lucky, but I know that's ridiculous!
Good luck to everyone, I'm hoping everyone's cycles sort themselves out quickly!!
