So just found out I’m pregnant. Bit of an accident. Burst condom but I didn’t take morning after as foolishly thought given my age (42) the chances were low.

Anyway now pregnant. Due date 31.8.19.

Not a major problem as in a good settled long term relationship. BUT my daughters birthday is 30th August and I really don’t want two born at the same time as I don’t think it’s fair to daughter.

Baby will have to be c section due to medical issues. Given that and my age what are the chances they may allow an earlier delivery just by a week or so?

Totally stupid or possible?

Don't be bloody ridiculous. You are joking aren't you?

ViolaLucyofTirol · 28/12/2018 06:56

I don't think they would induce so your children didn't have close birthdays sorry!

Yewnicorn · 28/12/2018 06:58

Oh my word.

Butterflysprinkles · 28/12/2018 06:58

If you have a planned C Section. Its normally done at 39 weeks not on your due date.

redcaryellowcar · 28/12/2018 06:58

I think you need to re focus on healthy baby, with fewest complications for you both, rather than due date, but also agree with pp that if dates are shifting I'd push for later (September) delivery from a school point of view.

TeaAndNoSympathy · 28/12/2018 06:59

Nobody is going to give you an early c section just so your baby’s birthday doesn’t clash with your daughters. Don’t be ludicrous.

And as a previous poster has said, it would be better for your baby to arrive in September rather than August so they are the oldest in their school year rather than the youngest.

3boysandabump · 28/12/2018 07:00

Well most c sections are done at 39 weeks. I had to really push to get mine on my due date in case I went into spontaneous labour even though baby 1&2 arrived after my due date.

My dm had to be induced with my brother because he stopped growing. They wanted to take her in on what would have been my first birthday but she refused because she wanted us both to have our own special day rather than share a birthday.

Plus also I guess if you're having a section you'll probably still be in hospital on the day of your daughters birthday if you had baby on your due date.

TulipsTwoLips · 28/12/2018 07:00

My birthday is four days before my brother's. Never been a problem!

Ppt18 · 28/12/2018 07:09

Since mumsnet nastiness cafe our a bit there from some people I’ll copy and paste the guidance from the nhs site that gives me the idea:

"Inducing birth one to two weeks earlier in first-time mothers over 35 could reduce stillbirths by two-thirds, large study finds," reports the Mail Online.

It goes on to suggest 39 weeks rather than 40 as being a good idea.

Also the same medical problems mentioned earlier will mean they will want this baby out sooner rather than later.

So no need for the are you joking comments!

And I wasn’t thinking that they would do it to avoid a birthday clash 😂😂😂

I’m not that stupid.

But if it’s going to be a c section if it would possibly be early anyway!

OP posts:
Bittermints · 28/12/2018 07:12

My birthday is also pretty close to my brother's. Never been a problem. My guess is you're still in shock about being pregnant and focusing on this really quite minor thing which will seem far less important as the pregnancy progresses. Good luck.

Ppt18 · 28/12/2018 07:14

That doesn’t make sense does it: question can be summarised as:

due date is not good. Since I’m an old fart anyway with medical problems that mean a c section is necessary what are the chances they would do it a week earlier anyway?

OP posts:
LEMtheoriginal · 28/12/2018 07:15

Err it was you who started the thread saying you wanted early c section due to bday clash.

Ppt18 · 28/12/2018 07:17

Yes but that was secondary to the why I was thinking that. I accept I didn’t explain itvery well but some people obviously got it as they gave sensible answers like c sections are done at 39 weeks anyway. You know helpful answers not you’re joking aren’t you.

I had my second son by planned c- section 10 days early at the age of 42 if this helps . Planned due to emergency section first time round ,

clumsyduck · 28/12/2018 07:20

Stop backtracking you know full well what you meant 😂😂

Ppt18 · 28/12/2018 07:20

That does help thank you. My first was an emergency too.

I think people who questioned you were just commenting on what you wrote! Confused

Ppt18 · 28/12/2018 07:23

I do know what I meant. It’s not back tracking it’s explaining what I meant. Please don’t accuse my of lying as it’s just not nice, necessary or true.

Yes I am hoping that it would be early to avoid birthday clash but reasons for doing it wouldn’t be that. Can you imagine me asking ‘oh dr please can you do ac section early because I want the baby born exactly then’. 😂😂😂

BBQueen · 28/12/2018 07:23

Your due date is very likely to change at the dating scan in any case.

MagicAlwaysLeadsToTrouble · 28/12/2018 07:24

My planned c section was at 39 weeks, though the hospital just opened a giant diary book and asked me which day I wanted that week!

clumsyduck · 28/12/2018 07:24

I don't think your lying I don't think anyone does I'm only winding you up anyway Smile

Ppt18 · 28/12/2018 07:25

I also put that I was older, had medical problems and it was going to be a c. Mumsnet just likes to focus on what they can have a dig at. I think if this place as a piranha tank with a few nice rainbow fish swimming alongside but the majority desperate to sink their teeth in.
