Sorry you find yourself here @MummyG82 but welcome! No reason why you shouldn't start ttc again if you feel ready both physically and mentally - the recommendation to wait for your next period is usually just for dating purposes. I was reading on another thread that a lady had a mc and then got pregnant before her next period and had a healthy baby, so it can happen! My oh and I are keen to start ttc again after my mc on 2 jan so we're in a similar place. I've just started tracking ovulation as I have no idea where I am following the mc, but nothing yet.

Ladies, are any of you taking fertility supplements?

Laney79 · 23/01/2019 07:29

@lilmousey I take pregnacare pre-natal (we buy the his n hers) high dose folic acid (go prescribed after my first loss saying it wouldn't do any harm but may help) co enzyme Q10, and I've been taking a little extra vitamin D as my blood test showed it was only just "adequate" even with the pregnacare -my go said it was safe to take up to 25ug a day (pregnacare has 15ug I think)

I'm toying with whether to switch to folate rather than folic acid though in case I have a mthfr mutation (which they won't test me for yet)...

Dimblebimble · 23/01/2019 07:50

Argh! The 2 digital tests I ordered both came up with an error message even though I followed the instructions to the letter! A waste of ten quid!

I can see a clear line on the ic now though so feeling pretty confident I'm pregnant. Feel anxious about it already but going to try and adopt the mentality of 'today I'm pregnant' that other ladies in the board have mentioned.

Hi ladies. Just checking in. Sorry not been around for a few days. I've just been so busy which isn't such a bad thing with due date of first baby on Friday approaching. I've only had one breakdown this week so far.

I've tried to catch up but I've missed so much! Sending love to you all!

@Dimblebimble congrats on the pregnancy. Maybe get a FRER?

InDreamland · 23/01/2019 08:26

@Mistymeow congratulations! Fx for a sticky bean!

@Lilimum6 I'm so sorry you still having a terrible time.

Dimblebimble · 23/01/2019 09:25

@InDreamland would it help to plan something to do on that day, to take your mine off things?

Yes I thought about getting a frer. I'm torn between wanting to be certain I'm pregnant and not wanting to get caught in the spiral of endless testing! I got hooked last time, and was testing up until 5 weeks, but in the end it didn't help things.

InDreamland · 23/01/2019 10:15

@Dimblebimble we have decided to do something, just need to book it/plan it. Could you just allow yourself 1 FRER?

Dimblebimble · 23/01/2019 10:36

@indreamland That's a good idea. Yes I think I'll either get a frer or a digital, but perhaps wait until Friday or Saturday to take it (af is due on Friday) x

lilmousey · 23/01/2019 16:30

@Laney79 I've ordered the pregnacare pre-natal. My next gp appt is in 3 weeks (I swear booking a routine appt is the most difficult thing!) want to get my bloods taken as well, so will see if they recommend I need anything else after the results come back. Is there a reason you think you have mthfr? And why won't they test you for it yet?

@Dimblebimble definite line on the ic :) wait a few days and then go for the frer! Fx for you

@Lilimum6 how are you doing? Hope you managed to get booked in for the guided erpc

InDreamland · 23/01/2019 17:51

@Dimblebimble waiting until Saturday is a good idea.

Mistymeow · 23/01/2019 18:16

@boboelephant thank you lovely. Can't believe those statistics, wow! I've got everything crossed for your IVF round, your egg collection must be soon :)
@TinyPaws thank you! I hope you're doing ok?
@dimblebimble I would call up Clear Blue and ask for them to send you more (or email with a photo) those are expensive and they ought to replace them. Your strip test looks stronger than mine so I think you would get a very good line on a FRER. I'm not testing anymore, I'll just get myself worrying. What will be will be.
@InDreamland thank you. Sorry to hear your due date is approaching. You may remember that I purchased a little black cuddly cat in memory of my little one- he sits on my shelf. It brought me great comfort. Make a nice memory to mark your baby. Will be thinking of you x

So sorry to see new ladies on the thread. You are in such great hands. I would have been lost and alone these past 9 months (I joined the thread back in April/May). Sending lots of love to you all x

TinyPaws · 23/01/2019 21:17

@Mistymeow Thank you. It is 6 weeks today since my last miscarriage so I had 8 vials of bloods taken for recurrent miscarriage testing. Not sure what, if anything, I'm hoping them to find.

Lilimum6 · 23/01/2019 21:43

@Laney79 are you still using your clearblue ovulation kit and is it any good

Lilimum6 · 23/01/2019 21:49

All you ladies that take pregnacare conception. Where do you buy yours, where I live it's nearly £7 for 30 tablets is that expensive or about right. I'm thinking of giving another brand a try any suggestions. Also I've noticed that when I take the pregnacare ones it makes my cm yellow but when I don't take it, it goes back to creamy. Tmi sorry ladies. Have any of you noticed side effects of pregnacare tablets?

InDreamland · 23/01/2019 21:54

@Mistymeow thank you. Yes I remember your cuddly toy cat you bought. We already have jewellery for our 2 lost babies but I'll see how i feel on Friday and might buy something to mark the day baby no.1 was supposed to join us. Have just booked hotel for Friday night so we're away. Think it's good we'll just spend some time alone together away from home.

@TinyPaws 8 vials sounds like a lot! I hope that you can get some answers and treatment for anything that might have been the cause so that your next pregnancy is a healthy baby you can bring home x

InDreamland · 23/01/2019 21:59

@Lilimum6 we were taking the hia and hers ones a few years ago but they did nothing for us so we stopped as like you said they are expensive. Boots or Tesco often have them on a 3 for 2 offer though. However, I started taking feroglobin in March last year for sonething else which is iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid - 2 months later I was pregnant ...... After 5 years TTC. Probably coincidence but DH is convinced they helped. I'm still taking them as worried about my iron levels in general.

InDreamland · 23/01/2019 22:02

Sorry, just to add, I then got pregnant again 3.5 months after the first mc which is odd given it had taken so long to conceive the first pregnancy. Maybe I'm reading too much into things but just in case I won't stop taking it now even if my iron levels are fine.

Laney79 · 23/01/2019 22:22

@lilmousey no real reason behind the mthfr other than it's a common mutation. They won't test me for it because I've not had three miscarriages (I've had two one in March, one in September). I could pay to get tested for around £150 but it seems the biggest issue is absorption of folic acid-if you have a certain variant of the gene you need folate instead. So my thoughts are if I don't know, and it's not going to harm, then might be worth taking folate instead?

@InDreamland sending you hugs for Friday-going away is a good idea

@Lilimum6 yep still using Clearblue connected. It settled this month and showed 4 high fertility before 2 peak fertility days-we bd'd the day before ovulation hence why my hopes were high...another test today was bfn though so not happy! I get my vitamins from Tesco as they are on 3 for 2. Side effects = bright yellow wee! Think it's the excess folic acid coming out in my wee.

@TinyPaws they took about 8 vials from me, that was basic bloods (fbc diabetes etc)plus thyroid, anti cardiolipid and lupus. Mine all normal xxx

Lilimum6 · 23/01/2019 22:42

@Laney79 yes mine is bright yellow too. Sorry about the bfn hun x
I m going to try seven seas I think 🤔
Side note I've been taking Vitamin D as well and I just read it helps with weight loss too bonus. I also found a fantastic iron supplement too its called spartone you can buy it from boots. I was taking iron tablets and it wasn't getting my levels up any better then my sonographer suggested it. And bam levels back to normal in just a 2 weeks. You just add it to fruit juice.

Laney79 · 24/01/2019 07:37

@Lilimum6 Yeah the bright yellow wee appears to be excess folic acid, I guess mine is worse as I have the small dose in pregnacare plus the 5mg big dose separately from the GP.

How are you doing? Did you have any luck with the epau? X

InDreamland · 24/01/2019 08:20

Thanks @Laney79.

Chilliandlime · 24/01/2019 10:14

@Laney79 it might also be excess vitamin B2 (riboflavin) causing the yellow wee. My acupuncturist recommended Wild Nutrition supplements which have folate but they're pricey compared to the main brands x

Laney79 · 24/01/2019 21:22

@Yukka hope you're well, sorry to bother-can I pick your brain on the sticky blood tests again? I'm just checking my results and I'm wondering if I had the right test ...on the list it says "Serum anti-cardiolipin level" which came back negative, is that the same as anti-cardiolipin antibody test? I'm toying with another batch of private tests and I'm wondering if I need to get an antibody one done if the original one hasn't covered it. Thanks xxx

Yukka · 24/01/2019 22:00

Hi @laney79 yes that should be the same test did they give you a level number or just say ‘normal’? Mine didn’t give me actual numbers but some places differ.
There are two other tests too that should be done alongside being beta-2-glycoproteins and lupus are they in the list?

FYI they are taking me off the heparin from Monday and only aspirin after that based on new risk assessment they think my challenge was getting past 12 weeks. Bit nervous but I have to trust them xx

OP posts:
Laney79 · 24/01/2019 22:18

Thanks @Yukka - the result just says "negative" - no numbers. I had the lupus test which came back as 1.0 ratio which is apparently slap bang in range and therefore negative. They didn't do the beta glyco one so I've asked for a quote on that from my private testing lab.

I've just gone through all the tests I've had and added them all into a table so I could see and compare what I'd had done and what the results were. The things that stick out are barely passable vitamin d levels (which surprised me as I'm taking pregnacare which has 15ug per day so I've added a top up to that) and my red blood cell count seems to be consistently only just on the normal range (it was 4.20 just after my second loss and 4.19 in December -and normal range is 4.20-5.40) but not sure if I can owt about it or if it would have an impact.

12 weeks already! I'm so pleased for you. Fingers crossed all goes ok which the heparin reduction-must be scary. Keeping everything crossed for you. Xxx
