Hmmm - early the same as me. Do you know what caused yours to come early? I can't imagine not trying at all. Will you really give up now?

Snowie - sorry you IVF cycle didn't work. Do you still have to pay if the transfer doesn't happen? Will you try again in the new year?

I will be having some drinks over Christmas too. Sod it.

CritterTamer · 21/12/2018 15:47

@Snowie3 - I'm sorry to hear that about your IVF cycle - it can be such an unpredictable and cruel process. I hope you get some answers at your follow up appointment.

So I was mooching about on the pregnancy board last night and came across this thread:
Pregnant at 48 years old-Are there any other older mums-to-be out there?

It's a few years old but has been resurrected a few times by the look of it and there are lots of positive stories on there!

CritterTamer · 21/12/2018 15:48

OK so for some reason the link hasn't pasted in properly but it's currently on page 2 of the pregnancy board if you are interested in reading it! 😊

Realitysucks · 21/12/2018 17:59

@cleozeta AF due 28.12.18 but cycle all over the place I thought I had missed LH surge again so couldn’t belive it when I got a peak smiley on day 18! However with AF due in 7 days, my cycle is either gone long or no time for implantation! I’m currently down to a 24 day cycle 🙄

I have a scratch and saline infusion booked for 16th jan but dependant on AF start date then will start drugs on the following cycle due end of jan/ beginning of Feb. My Feb cycle will be my IVF cycle so currently egg collection around 8th Feb.

Realitysucks · 21/12/2018 18:03

@Snowie3 Im sorry you didn’t get to egg collection. I literally have to stop drinking and dtd from 30 December apparently! err how the hell am I gonna mange that. We’ve been told no BD at all during treatment so I’m confused when you say trying naturally as well?

BooseysMom · 21/12/2018 19:17

@Chatbash72. .lolGrin
@Cleozeta ..sorry AF has struck @hmmm123... ditto. So sorry you feel so low Sad we are the same in that we have one DC and would never qualify for ivf due to that and age. So I completely understand how you feel xx

BooseysMom · 21/12/2018 19:34

@Snowie3.. really sorry to hear the IVF wasn't successful this time. Def take some time to relax and don't feel bad about having a few drinks.

I can def feel AF looming. It's due next Fri and i am feeling really over sensitive and v tearful Sad... DS school has really messed up with something and i know AF is coming as I wake up at 3am worrying and going over and over it in my mind.

Orchid222 · 21/12/2018 20:37

Here's an article about secondary infertility I found a while back but forgot to post. Written by someone who knows what it's like and I can agree with everything she says. Just found it again:

Hmm sorry about AF but correct me if I'm wrong- you've only been trying for a few months no? If so there's definitely a chance for you! I don't know if you remember a lady posting here last month or so that she just had a baby girl. She briefly joined our board before she got her bfp and I think I remember her saying that her other 2 children took a year to conceive and, sure enough, after a year of trying she conceived her 3rd at 41- there's definitely hope!
Snowie- really sorry about your cycle not working out. Our bodies can sometimes be so uncooperative. One thing I'm wondering about is have you done 2 cycles back to back? You mentioned a cycle in Nov and now you had this one. Or am I missing something?
Russ- please share what your doctor back home has to say re: plan for the near future, I'll be very interested to hear it.

Hi everyone, sorry been awol for a couple of days. Sorry to hmmmm for Af and to Snowie on the cancelled ivf:(

I just popped in to say to Cleo that I’d been thinking about the progesterone thing and it’s link to dhea too! I thought exactly the same thing! It’s supposed to raise oestrogen which if you’re oestrogen dominant could actually lower your progesterone further. If I was you I’d definitely give it up or at the very least experiment with a lower dose? I’ve ordered the 10mg tablets as I plan to start low and build up slowly. Could be worth tinkering around with dosage? By the way how long does it usually take for delivery from Biovea?

Rose - I believe I’m low in oestrogen lately as I’ve been experiencing all the typical symptoms ie hot flashes in first half of cycle, dry skin, eyes and vag (nice-NOT) and late ovulation. I’m also quite skinny with low bmi which is all conducive to low oestrogen. I’m trying to put on a bit of weight (I think I’m getting there slowly) and the acupuncture and herbs are working wonders. Even though I’m 42 I don’t feel I should be getting near menopause yet so I’m treating it more like a hormone imbalance. It’s way more common to be the opposite tho ie oestrogen dominant and lower in progesterone. Hope that makes sense.

littlemimosa · 22/12/2018 00:07

Orchid- that’s a beautifully written article. Maggie OFarrell is a great writer. Although I’m ttc #3 I can relate to so much of it. The pain of secondary infertility is too much to bear sometimes.

littlemimosa · 22/12/2018 00:26

Here’s the link mentioned above. Very inspiring:)

Rose68 · 22/12/2018 00:40

@hmmm123 we were also only giving it until Christmas / end of the year. I would be up for extending it but I’m not sure DH is 😞

CritterTamer · 22/12/2018 06:52

Thanks @littlemimosa - I'm not good with technology lol 😂

Orchid222 · 22/12/2018 07:32

Mimosa I had my dhea from biovea but can't remember how long it took, don't think it was long though else I'd remember. The only thing I can say about it is from personal experience. I took 50mg daily for 2 months and prior to egg collection I must've had half a dozen of scans- each day of the scan I had both progesterone and oestrogen tested and they were always at a good level so it seems that, at least in my case, dhea did not affect things.

OP posts:
Cleozeta · 22/12/2018 09:38

Mimosa - yes it does add up doesn't it! I hope it helps you. I was on 75mg a day, so maybe too much. Orchid I wonder if your approach of only 50mg may have been better, but I guess if your hormones already well balanced it probably does not affect it. Did you find it improved your egg or follicle count?

I am going to stop completely this month just to see if my LP returns to normal, then once that has been answered I'll play with dosage.
Mimosa I think it could really help you. Fingers crossed! I don't think delivery took long, letvus know how you get on with it.
This month I'll be trying vitex as I think that sounds like it fits better with my specific imbalance.

Reality - so how long is your lp usually? Your IVF cyvle should be able to sort that out I think?
I am so curious to hear what my clinic advise when I go back at the end of Jan....

Realitysucks · 22/12/2018 09:54

@cleozeta I’m not sure really as only on second month of using clear blue advance opk. First month picked up ten days straight of estrogen surge but no LH spike. This month am on day 9 of estrogen surge and had two peak days yesterday and day before. Today went back to high again.

Cleozeta · 22/12/2018 10:38

Reality - 2 days of peak, one day of high and then back to low is normal. So I guess you'll just have to see now how many days before AF (or BFP!!)

hmmm123 · 22/12/2018 10:57

Am now wondering if it is af as it disappeared after a tiny bit yesterday morning! Could it be implantation bleed or just wishful thinking😩 going to do some vigorous hoovering now before Xmas guests arrive so that should bring it on if it is Af

Will report back!

Realitysucks · 22/12/2018 11:05

@cleozeta literally last chance saloon! Now on 2ww over Xmas 🤦‍♀️Worst thing is been o. Antibiotics now got thrush and can’t treat till I know for sure 😭 it’s driving me mad !!!

Orchid222 · 22/12/2018 11:06

Hmm fingers crossed!
Cleo I don't know if she's had any effect. I don't have a before and after picture but considering only 2 of my eggs fertilized normally I don't think it helped a great deal.

OP posts:
Cleozeta · 22/12/2018 11:14

Hmmm fingers crossed for you. Keep us updated!

Reality - argh how annoying!

Orchid well hopefully that was enough! Remind me - when is your testing date?

Rose68 · 22/12/2018 12:26

Hmmm it could sound promising! That is the right time for an implantation bleed.

Snowie and Orchid, I’m so sorry your ivf didn’t work. It’s just shit. Sending you both lots of love. xxx

Orchid222 · 22/12/2018 13:03

Lol Rose I hope mine did! It's too early to test.
Thanks Cleo well I hope so. I'm not testing until the end of the year I'm afraid so still a long time to wait ☹

Oh I’m so sorry Orchid! I’m getting confused 🙈
Were both embryos transferred? I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
