@Delilah7 no matter how pregnant you are, we'll always welcome you with open arms. X

mrsof20118 · 09/11/2018 11:56

@Delilah7 have you got many plans over the weekend to keep your brain occupied? X

purplefig · 09/11/2018 12:06

@Babymaking never heard of that one I'm afraid! Keep us posted though, and best of luck.

@Delilah7 I know it's hard, but the best thing to do is try and keep busy and occupied. Like @mrsof20118 said, can you do something nice this weekend?

@Crossfitgirl thanks! To add insult to injury I was at an exercise class last night and MY GOD, first day AF is a killer. Very poorly timed!!

Ladies - my book has arrived! I think you'll all appreciate the title: The Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant Grin . I'm going to start it this night and will pass on anything useful.

Hope everyone has got that Friday feeling and is feeling positive today. Any nice weekend plans?

EltzBee · 09/11/2018 12:18

@ValidUser it's still early! Bless you - I daren't ask how many FRER tests you bought :O

@purplefig that sounds like a book we all need!

I'm due to start fertile week imminent, trying to DTD every day (started Tues!) and then the day off ovulation and after as well, just in case....fingers crossed we manage it.

Delilah7 · 09/11/2018 12:21

@ValidUser lots of love to youuuuu xx

@mrsof20118 OH is at work so I'll go see my my mum and probably try do some more Xmas wrapping. Maybe some shopping to! Xx

So I chatted to a lovely fertility nurse - she said my ovaries might be a little old, but progesterone shows I ovulate and because I'm 28 it means my eggs are nice and young.

I'll get my AMH done next week and HSG the week after. And I have a credit card that'll take an ivf hit!

Feeling calmer now.

purplefig · 09/11/2018 12:37

@EltzBee will pass on any info that's useful / give a little mini review once I've finished. It was only £6 second hand. That sounds like a solid plan - fingers crossed it's your month!

@ValidUser so glad you're feeling better today.

EltzBee · 09/11/2018 12:44

@ValidUser glad you feel a little better! How long have you been TTC?

@purplefig awesome :) lets hope it has some good pearls of wisdom!
yes fingers crossed. it's my 30th in January so I wonder if the universe will conspire to make it a 'dry birthday' due to something (I can but hope!)

ValidUser · 09/11/2018 15:03

@EltzBee only 4 months, but I know I have some scarring (probably from a childhood peritonitis).

I've also got a high FSH, and DH has autoimmune disease making anti sperm stuff more likely.

Ah it'll work out I'm sure!

starkid · 09/11/2018 15:27

@ValidUser - Happy to hear your results so far seem to be good :)
I've likely got some scarring too, from surgery in the pelvic area 2 years ago. Do you think if not pregnant by January and I called my GP, they'd see me earlier than the year-long wait due to this? I'd have been trying for around 5 months by then

ValidUser · 09/11/2018 15:35

@starkid they might! I've been lucky to have private insurance (and I'm in Ireland).

starkid · 09/11/2018 15:42

Ah, would just be a bog standard NHS GP in England for me :( Ah well, will wait til the new year then can at least ask the question at least.
Good luck with the rest of your tests too!

stormtrooperjulian · 09/11/2018 15:58

@starkid when my DH went to the gp to ask about ttc he was told that we could get the blood tests etc after 9 months but they wouldn’t do anything before that. Maybe your medical history would speed things up a bit though.

starkid · 09/11/2018 16:04

Yes hopefully that would be the case with the medical history.
Was surgery 2 years ago in the rectal area for Colitis, and one of my specialist nurses said there may be scarring which would make TTC difficult, but that IVF would work well. This wasn't from looking at an xray or something though, just from others who have had surgery in the same area, so might all be fine with me, just don't know.
Maybe I should try giving my specialist nurse a call in the new year, see what she suggests.
Thanks you two :)

purplefig · 09/11/2018 16:14

I finished work early today so no surprises for what I'm doing! The book has some interesting info so far and I'm enjoying it but OMG it's hilariously depressing (in light of our recent discussion!) how it shifts the emotional labour of conception on to women.

Talking about asking your partner goes for a sperm test she suggests you "admit to your partner you're not just impatient, but slightly nuts" so that at the doctors he can "roll his eyes and say his wife is a little crazy". You should also volunteer to go with him, come up with funny names for the sample room and schedule the appointment for him. You might also like to ask the clinic how much you're allowed to "help".

Hmm
EltzBee · 09/11/2018 16:16

@ValidUser ah fair enough, it'll work out just takes time. We're on Cycle 6 now, I think, thought it would have happened quicker.

Really struggling with my weight. I thought coming off the pill may have helped but it's gone up despite actively trying to watch what food I eat!

ValidUser · 09/11/2018 16:54

@EltzBee me too (minus the pill part). I stress eat.

@purplefig are you reading the impatient woman book? I loved that.

purplefig · 09/11/2018 17:00

@ValidUser yes! Lots of good info so far, just a strange tone at times. Enjoying it though, about a third of the way through.

purplefig · 09/11/2018 17:01

FWIW the book says research has found being underweight is much more likely to negatively affect fertility than being a bit overweight.

rj995 · 09/11/2018 17:06

Can I ask what the emotional labour reading is all about and the discussions it has started, I think I may have missed it? Interesting to find out more!

@Delilah7 fingers crossed all is heading in the right direction for you😊

@ValidUser early days, still time to get your BFP!

@purplefig Oh do let me know how it is, wanting to start reading a conception book of some sort

I was wondering how long after a positive OPK you ladies think ov occurs? I've read it can be anything from 12-36 hours?!

Boo2you · 09/11/2018 17:15

Really good news for you hun! Rainbow baby! I've just got a positive OPK on CD22!! Been trying for baby #2 for 7 months we got pregnant last October but had to have TFMR at 12 weeks! Fingers crossed it works out it's taken my periods ages to get back to normal and had complications afterwards too! I have a genetic condition (which will be debating if passed on 50/50 of baby being ok or not) and PCOS to deal with too!

purplefig · 09/11/2018 17:15

@rj995 I'm relatively new to TTC (just started cycle 3) and I haven't used charting / opks etc so I feel like I'm learning lots. It's really easy to read, but backed by science. Would recommend.

This is the article I posted a few pages back: www.harpersbazaar.com/culture/features/a12063822/emotional-labor-gender-equality/

purplefig · 09/11/2018 17:17

Ps. Just reading about OPKs in the book - she says about 32 hours but can be anywhere from 12 hours to 48 hours. HTH.
