@EltzBee That was very lucky that you got your pos OPK then! Goodluck! I tried OPKs in the first couple of months of TTC. I used cheapy strips which only ever gave me a couple of VVFL and when I was on the clearblue clinical trial I got highs on the digital OPK tests but never peak which is apparently normal for some people. It was getting me down and stressed a bit so I basically gave up using them and so have never confirmed that I can/do ovulate although I like to think that getting highs is a good sign, right? But then my mum told me that she had to use Clomid and then after that she was fine and went on to have 3 kids quickly each time she tried.
I'm pleased you and sunshine1987 managed to get tests done before the 1 year mark. I suppose I'd need to make a doctors to discuss it rather than straight up asking for the tests. Argh, but why does everything require my blood Sad lol I'm needle-phobic and dread all the needles that pregnancy/labour may require.

Hi, I'd like to join as the waiting is really bothering me!
I'm 28 and TTC 17 months/15 cycles (used to have long, irregular cycles). This is the first month I've had a definite positive OPK, now 10dpo/CD27 (now that it's hit midnight lol) but trying to put off testing until Tuesday!

LaurenMay · 19/10/2018 02:05

@Delilah7 can I join please?

Laurahinch · 19/10/2018 02:48

Hi everyone, I'm new to mumsnet and this is my first thread that I've joined.

My stats: 23, TCC#1, cycle 5, c.d. 32 or 14 (fuck knows I keep bleeding in between periods). Came off depo april 17, periods returned march 18 normal at first but now all over the place. I've been seeing my GP who says I have borderline PCOS since my ovaries are cystic but blood work is normal. Just had a referral to fertility specialist today. Finding it more difficult day by day as I'm a midwife and I get a daily reminder that I am not 'with child'. I have decided to turn to the girl power of mumsnet since I think I've used up all my DH's energy to console me!! Hoping for a BFP in the not too distant future

Delilah7 · 19/10/2018 06:25

@Crossfitgirl I'm sorry we passed it through to you haha. It's not nice! I'm ok thank you. Feel knackered but that's normal at the moment xx

@FlapJackered defo feel I did or am going to. Had some tummy pains yesterday with EWCM. So we have DTD Monday and last night. Might tonight but don't know hahaha. I'm so shattered and so's he. Been a hard month!

@Charm23 good! Yes I'm ok thank you. Scared about dad's MRI next Tuesday but x x

@LaurenMay course 😘

Oh no my temperature is still low so I haven't ovulated yet. 😩 DH and I are staying at a friends tonight so Dtd is not going to be ideal also he will have been driving all day so will be tired. Why do our bodies always screw us over with timing!

Delilah7 · 19/10/2018 07:27

@FlapJackered who knows! 😂

purplestar9 · 19/10/2018 07:46

@Delilah7 Aww sorry to hear he is unwell. I hope it goes well.

@Triskaidekaphilia @LaurenMay @laurahinch Welcome!

EltzBee · 19/10/2018 09:49

@Charm23 aw bless you, I'm thankfully fine with needles - mind over matter I think! I've just got some 'cheap' OPKs from Amazon (which had decent reviews at least); last night it went as dark as the control line super quick, but totally know what you mean about the faint lines not getting stronger - I seem to get a faint but still negative line for a few days, which is why I thought I'd missed the peak of it.
So would definitely think that seeing it change and getting 'peaks' and 'highs' is a positive sign - as you then hopefully know you are approaching that magic window!!

Definitely give your doctor a buzz to ask if you can discuss it - you've nothing to lose by asking them, and whilst they're busy they are their to help and would probably rather ease your worries sooner and make the whole process smoother if you do need help later!

I've heard fertility is often similar to maternal side; my mum conceived with me first month apparently, they tried again for a 2nd but stopped after 6 months when it never happened (for the best in the end! lol).
My aunt and one of her daughters have both had problems and had to have help conceiving.

Hoping I take after my Mum and it doesn't take too long - but then she was 21 and I'm 30 in a couple of months so aware things are different!!!

Temping for first time to try and confirm it - temperature this morning has risen, I'll OPK again later but not sure if we should BD again (3rd day in a row?) or if it's too late now anyway?

MrsM2017 · 19/10/2018 10:10

@Welshpugmomma I started doing them twice a day (am and pm) so I didn't miss ovulation, although only with the cheapy ones or it gets a bit ££

Thanks @ckc45d10 will definitely look into this then - every little helps at the moment!

Yay - congrats @EltzBee, definitely still in with a chance this month! Fingers crossed for you!

Welcome @Triskaidekaphilia , @LaurenMay and @Laurahinch Smile

@Charm23 I went to my GP after 14 months off of contraception - but 12 months of actively trying (I'm 29). Hubby went to his GP after I got my results back (a few weeks later) and has only just been given a date for sperm analysis. Don't think it helps that we are registered at separate GP's though...
I would definitely say to start making enquiries with your doctor if you feel you need to, and if there is family history. Especially as the whole process can take some time, depending on where you live, so no harm in getting the ball rolling sooner rather than later?

MrsC87 · 19/10/2018 10:43

Good morning ladies, so both dh and I have stinking colds, but still managing dtd every other day! It's hard work!
CD7 today so will start OPKs early next week.
Welcome to all the newbies @Laurahinch @LaurenMay @Triskaidekaphilia

Hope you're okay @Delilah7 you got much planned the weekend or are you and dh resting up?

@Charm23 @Crossfitgirl I've found out recently that my MIL asks my dh regularly "any baby news"? Unfortunately she walked into my house unannounced and saw a pregnancy test within the shopping delivery so knows we are trying now. But asking weekly, jeez! I know she's excited but poor dh doesn't need to be battered with questions all the time!

What's everyone up to this weekend?
@Lougg still thinking about you, any news?

Delilah7 · 19/10/2018 10:52

@Charm23 thank you x x

@MrsC87 well done babe that's good going. I'm ok thank you abit tired from all the illness that has been in our household hahaha. But we have DTD twice this week and will be doing it tonight. I've only had EWCM the past two days aswell as pains! Trying to relax this month due to what could be coming! xx

Hi ladies!

I am so happy this morning!
Even though we are delaying TTC I am still going to track ovulation as I have always doubted I ovulate and can have babies!

AND this morning I got an almost positive on an opk! Which means I definitely do ovulate! My chances are higher than I thought!

I have never felt so happy!

Delaying TTC will give me that little bit more time to learn more about my body and cycle!

I am feeling alot more positive about delaying it all now!
Added pictures just so there is proof of extra eyes seeing the almost positive!! Grin

Delilah7 · 19/10/2018 11:01

@EssJayyCee keep testing!!! I got some like that and I missed my surge last month so keep peeing!!! 😍

OP posts:
EssJayyCee · 19/10/2018 11:10

@Delilah7 I will!
I feel so good that I am actually ovulating.
It's just a shame I'm not able to make use of this egg!
Oh well! March 2019 egg I welcome you!!! Grin

EltzBee · 19/10/2018 11:11

@EssJayyCee definitely keep testing; I thought I'd missed it as was only getting faint lines or nothing, and have had a late ovulation this month (finally got a very strong positive OPK yday on CD17).
Getting well reviewed cheaper ones online makes it less pricey too.

MrsC87 · 19/10/2018 12:09

@Delilah7 glad you're doing okay. Snuggle down with dh tonight. Sounds like youve covered all bases on the dtd front 😜
@EssJayyCee i use the internet cheapies and get on well with them too.

I'm doing my online shopping at the moment- want to eat better, but what foods are supposedly good for fertility? Leafy greens, berries...

Delilah7 · 19/10/2018 12:10

@MrsC87 haven't really done a lot but ahwell... we will see. X x

OP posts:
EltzBee · 19/10/2018 12:25

@MrsC87 sweet potatoes are supposedly good for male & female fertility, and eggs (they seem to contain every nutrient going!).
