@MrsM2017 haha glad it’s not just us! I naively thought it seemed quite achievable until we actually tried to put it in to practise!! DH is totally worn out with it all and I’m left trying to seduce him like a mad woman 😂 if it doesn’t work this month I don’t think I’ll be attempting again!

Welshpugmomma · 18/10/2018 15:33

@flapjackered totally understand the static smiley I did the clear blue trial for a couple of months they are so straight forward.

Can anyone help on what times I should use the cheapy opk- I work shifts so it's not really working out with the timings... do you think I could do them before bed and get a good indication? Otherwise I'm going to have to use the clear blue as at least can't use fmu.

@Crossfit glad you got some answers of sorts from the go... I actually feel a sense of relief thinking may find out something if we get referred in Jan.

@mrsnk @mrsm2017 think I'm being a bit over optimistic with the SMEP but I guess just clutching at the idea ! I totally get that's it's not something we could do every month...

Fingers crossed for you @duchesscatherine not out yet.. totally feels like you can't get away from anything babies / pregnancy wise... literally so many adverts for baby stuff on tv or even programmes!

rj995 · 18/10/2018 17:13

@Welshpugmomma I work shifts too and decided to wait til later in the evening, around 9pm if you can, worked fine for me, don't think FMU is very accurate as your body gets rid of the LH during the night

@ValidUser sorry to hear about AF, but onwards and upwards for your new cycle😊🤞🏼

rj995 · 18/10/2018 17:49

On a side note, does anyone else feel like the clearblue ad is popping up everywhere on their phone?! & just when I've managed to take my mind off it...🙄

Crossfitgirl · 18/10/2018 18:04

Ffs. I just wrote a massive post replying to everyone. Then I pressed the back button too many times by accident and lost it all.
Mannnnn.

Crossfitgirl · 18/10/2018 18:17

Sorry im not tagging now, it took me so long to do my last post i cant bear it. Lol.

Welcome to all the newbies!

OPKs... everyone's different. I found my positives come around 1pm but it took a couple of months of 3 (or 4) a day to my window.

Thank you for everyone's support re: the fertility clinic. You guys are the best

Totally get the whole pregnant people everywhere, ads everywhere... literally I currently have 4 pregnant colleagues, 4 off on mat leave, then 2 of our close friends have also just given birth, plus just about every female person I know on Facebook now either only posts about their kids or announce more pregnancies. Just sod off!

For someone who mentioned SMEP, there's a few of us doing it (albeit in different variations) if you care to join us on how you're doing?

Sorry for the AF. That bitch.

And look what my MIL chose TODAY of all days to post on my timeline... I know she's only joking (We are both December birthdays) Cheers mum... Got referred to the fertility clinic today, but thanks I'll take some extra pressure!

Yes, research suggests CoQ10 supports fertility in both men and women. A form that is water and fat-soluble absorbs better.

Check with your doctor on all supplements. Vitamin D can be dosed depending on your lab values. For folic acid, many choose a methylated folate form which may absorb better.

rj995 · 18/10/2018 19:30

@Crossfitgirl sorry to hear about your fertility situ, can I ask how long you've been TTC? That's great your GP is being so proactive with it all tho and who knows with the pressure off a bit something may happen before your appointment. Oh dear, the MIL post was very unfortunate! Although can see the humour as also a December birthday. It's like everything in the world points to TTC at the moment!

FlapJackered · 18/10/2018 19:44

@Crossfitgirl so happy to hear it is nothing serious. That sounds really proactive of your doctor too!

@MrsNK I am doing smep, so far so good, except got a positive opk last night and Dtd this morning but I am away until Friday eve so not going to happen tomorrow probably. It can be difficult getting the DH going as I get a lot of 'I am too tired' or 'I haven't washed' 🙄

@Charm23 We are going to Tokyo and will probably do a bit of travelling around but haven't really looked into it yet as it won't be until late next year, have you done any research, any ideas for places to go?

@Welshpugmomma I take cheapy opks 3 or 4 times a day as I work from home and still sometimes don't get a proper positive. I reckon clearblue would probably be easier for you if you're doing shifts? There is something very satisfying about the static smiley too!

Delilah7 · 18/10/2018 20:01

How is everyone tonight 😘

EltzBee · 18/10/2018 20:07

@Crossfitgirl oh bless you about your MIL. We got married a month after Harry & Meghan, and when they announced their pregnancy this week my parents (jokingly) sent us a message saying that we'd be next month then if we were keeping up with the royals! Sad silly but I did have to bite my tongue as it's not for want of trying.
Think some people forget that when you're trying and it doesn't happen it's emotionally tiring.
Glad to hear your GP has referred you - if that makes sense, in that glad they're taking it seriously and being pro-active in helping.

Will have to go and google what SMEP is! Not heard of that before.

Charm23 · 18/10/2018 20:22

@Crossfitgirl :O Maybe she just wasn't thinking or do you think she did it intentionally? Tomorrow I have MIL/FIL coming over and I just know there will be lots of hinting and talk about us having kids. We haven't told them we have been TTC since March because we didn't want the added stress of people having expectations so I just have to smile and act like it's not happening. I kinda wish we could tell them but it's DH parents and I respect his wishes.

@FlapJackered Oh nice! I did want to do a week in Tokyo and then do a week on the beach somewhere like Naha but it's just ideas at this stage. I've done a ton of research and made a Google Map with all the places I want to visit pinned on it :D and have a list of different Japanese foods I want to try so I don't forget :P We were thinking of going in March/April to try and catch the sakura blossoming but it's peak tourist season and still there's a chance we might not see it so we are also considering end of the year too.

cupcakesandglitter · 18/10/2018 20:39

@Crossfitgirl oh god, that picture 😂😂 glad your tests came back with nothing major, fx for you and DH xxxx

Crossfitgirl · 18/10/2018 20:48

@rj995 yeah we've been trying since the start of May, so 5 1/2 months. I think the doc assumes it's 8 months though as I told her I came off the pill in Feb, but didn't mention we used condoms for a few months after. Whoops...
All the same, she took my concerns about ttc seriously- PCOS and a previous cyst removed from my fallopian tube, and a short luteal phase. I'm glad she referred me on, but at the same time I'm also glad there's a 2 month wait, as it means we probably will have actually tried for 8 months before we see the specialist, which gives me a bit more time to try without intervention. If that makes sense?

@flapjackered just tell him to wait up for your return home tomorrow, butt naked and ready to ravage you!

@delilah7 I am coming down with a cold so I feel horrible:-( how are you? I think you and your OH gave it me!! Lol!

Thanks @eltzbee - ahh nothing like feeling compared to the royals eh! They probably get their own personal fertility specialist, nutritionists, personal trainers, life coaches.... etc etc. Not the same for us mere mortals!

@charm23 I hate the hinting, hinting is the worst- I like people to just get to the point! Lol. We haven't told ours but have said we hope to have a family soon, so kinda said it without saying it. I haven't told anyone but DH and you guys about the fertility referral. Not sure if I want to! But I will if I keep getting the hints!

Crossfitgirl · 18/10/2018 20:50

Thanks @cupcakesandglitter hope you're doing ok xx

EltzBee · 18/10/2018 20:51

Some good news, did my ovulation test this evening and it was positive at last. As it was a different brand I did a 2nd test from last of previous lot and also positive.

So turns out I hadn't missed it but seem to be ovulating late this month as on cd17 today.

FlapJackered · 18/10/2018 21:37

@Crossfitgirl 😂😂 I don't know whether either of us have the energy to ravage or be ravaged after all the smeping! Is it bad that I am secretly hoping I have ovulated today and my temp goes up tomorrow so we don't have to 😫😂
Mini DH was not so keen on waking up for the action this morning. The pressure of the static smiley got to him and it almost didn't happen but luckily did finally manage to get to the finish line! I might keep the static smiley secret next time. It's funny we have never had a problem with him standing to attention until we started ttc.
How are you getting on with the smep? Is your DH still initiating?

FlapJackered · 18/10/2018 21:39

@EltzBee yay!! It's such a relief when you know where you are with it. We can start the tww together.

FlapJackered · 18/10/2018 21:40

@Delilah7 how are you getting on hun, do you think you have ovulated?

KatBeCool · 18/10/2018 22:02

@FlapJackered next time your DH gives you a "not washed" excuse, tell him "go wash now or I'll wash it for you" and bring out a tub of soapy water 😂

Charm23 · 18/10/2018 22:09

@Crossfitgirl I'm not sure why I even called it hinting because that implies subtley which MIL does not do. She will just outright say things like "I saw some adorable baby clothes in [insert store name] and was tempted to buy some" or "Do I need to buy [insert baby item] yet?" Part of me is pleased that both her and FIL can't wait to be GPs but as far as she knows we aren't TTC and it's something we're doing when I'm 30 (I'm 28). Maybe she knows? I'm the worlds worst liar and so when she puts me on the spot I just smile/laugh and spout a line, so maybe she's figured us out!

@EltzBee Congrats on the positive OPK! I gave up on them months ago but think maybe I should give them another go? Hmm...

@Delilah7 I'm good. How about you? Had a lovely dinner followed by one too many quadruple chocolate cookies Blush. I feel hot and my cheeks are flushed! :S Weird, is it a fertility symptom does anyone know??

Can I ask everyone when they first saw their GP about fertility? I'll admit that I have seriously considered lying and saying we've been trying for longer than we actually have (on cycle 8 atm). I have a feeling that I will take after my mum who needed Clomid to kick start her ovulating which makes me want to go to the doctor sooner rather than later. I think we'll keep trying and see what happens come the New Year.

sunshine1987 · 18/10/2018 22:30

@charm23 I went last week (6 months of trying) about having my thyroid tested and she suggested doing bloods for fertility at the same time. They said they wouldn’t test hubby until a year had passed x

Charm23 · 18/10/2018 22:43

@sunshine1987 Oo that's actually really interesting as my levels are not quite normal and so I'm having regular blood tests to check my thyroid - is this what's happening with you too? It was a consultant at the hospital who requested the follow up blood tests and I'm not even sure if or when I'll see her again but if I do I'll hint at getting fertility checked but I imagine every area is different. But thanks for letting me know, appreciate it!

sunshine1987 · 18/10/2018 22:47

@charm23 this is the first test I’ve had to see if I have thyroid issues, which I suspect I might. Was just really lucky that she said she might as well test all the others things at the same time. Definitely worth an ask x

EltzBee · 18/10/2018 22:54

@FlapJackered it really is so good to know where things are for sure! Even managed to get DH to BD 2 days in a row Blush

@Charm23 I started using them when I came off the pill in July as wanted to see if things were 'waking up and doing what they were meant to Grin but do find them useful as the not knowing drives me up the wall! This month I'm very glad I've used them as I was assuming I'd missed Ov so If I hadn't done the tests this evening probably wouldn't have BD'd again...hope that makes sense. 1st month temping as well so will see If that shows any rise this weekend! Fingers crossed.
I asked my GP before coming off pill if anything to beware of (I already take B12 for low levels previously and on sertraline so wanted to be safe) and he was happy to suggest doing some blood to check my vitamin levels, thyroid and a couple others. Everything came back normal there. They were quite happy to have a consultation with me to discuss it and it was reassuring. If in doubt ask them - I asked for a telephone appt which was easier to get and more comfortable anyhow.
