Yammers thread 9!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Got full-on FP yesterday, still really crampy so am on the sofa with a hot water bottle for the second day. FP is so much more bearable when it falls on a weekend for me. I can just deal with it in my own way without having to put a brave face on. Might watch that film too @SparkwoodAnd21!

Hope you are doing ok @OrcinusOrca

Ugh, I've never had such awful cramps with FP before Sad. What on earth is my body doing?! Taken ibuprofen but it's made no difference.

OP posts:
Owlpatrol · 14/10/2018 16:05

Oh no @Chooklass I always think that our bodies constantly suprise us! I've had some cramps today with some small amounts of spotting Sad we went for Sunday dinner and I said to dp I don't know what to do anymore (after seeing two new borns in the pub....) and basically I said he has to get tested next month or I'm not doing it anymore. He's still very positive but he understands. quietly dying a little more inside

maddiie · 15/10/2018 08:54

Waking up to be baby-bombed by Duchess of Sussex! Can't escape the babies!

Pinkemi · 15/10/2018 08:57

First scan today.. 4/5 on one ovary and 5/6 on the other. Is okay i hope...

Si1ver · 15/10/2018 09:46

That's brilliant for a first scan @Pinkemi loads more than I had at my last scan.

Chooklass · 15/10/2018 09:50

That sounds good @Pinkemi?

FFS @maddiie! There really is no escape!!

I've just booked a fertility reflexology appt for next week! Going to give it a go.

Great news @pinkemi! I'm already wishing I was on short protocol... this down regging bit feels like it is lasting ages. Can I ask which stim med you're on?

Fertile fucker meghan. I promptly switched off the radio when I heard this morning. Damn her. Must channel inner peace 😂

Pinkemi · 15/10/2018 10:22

@Si1ver ah that makes me feel a little better about it. I tried to ask the nurse if it was good or bad.. and she was like.. its okay.. we just need them to grow more.

@Booksandbaths1 I agree about switching the radio off.. haha I did the same! Was like.. NOPE dont want to hear that.

The meds I am on are Bemfola for the evening and... gah I cant remember the name of my morning one. It starts with a C?

LexieJean · 15/10/2018 11:56

Ha @books hows that inner peace going?! I hadn't heard the royal baby bomb @maddiie - bloody typical. So happy for them blah blah blah 🙄

In other news I have no idea what's going on with my cycle. I ov'd 4 days earlier than usual (usual being the last 5 cycles) and am now just 8dpo but had some spotting. Now I'm wondering if I've been pre FP hot the last fews days. I'm not sure. I guess that will be an excellent holiday present from my body.

Si1ver · 15/10/2018 11:57

Remember you only need one. One of my friends only had one egg collected and her son was born a few months back. One is all it takes.

OrcinusOrca · 15/10/2018 15:43

Glad it's not just me who got pissed off at the royal baby bomb..!

Hope you're all having a good Monday. I reallyyyyyy can't be arsed. Need to get my shit together at work. Motivation is nil...

JustLikeTheySaid · 15/10/2018 18:49

In a foul mood about the royal baby. So happy for them blah blah blah. Boo. :(

7DPO today and no symptoms or anything so I'm pretty sure this month is a no go too. Fucks sake.

OrcinusOrca · 15/10/2018 20:04

Do any of you try to distract yourself or does time pass quickly enough for you? I'm finding the days go so unbelievably slowly right now.

Contemplating trying to find reflexology locally. I love autumn and Christmas but nothing is really occupying my brain enough right now.

Chooklass · 15/10/2018 20:27

Totally try to distract myself @OrcinusOrca! I've just booked my first reflexology session for next week.

OP posts:
JustLikeTheySaid · 15/10/2018 20:31

I had reflexology this evening! It's sooooo relaxing so I am hoping it might be positive.

OrcinusOrca · 15/10/2018 20:40

@JustLikeTheySaid did they just do your feet? I read somewhere that sometimes it's ears and hands too. Is it really ticklish?!

Ooh @Chooklass let me know how it goes?

I know the jury is out but I feel like even if it helps with relaxation that has to be a plus, right? I only had a couple acupuncture sessions but had an IBS bout after one so that made me a bit wary.

Chooklass · 15/10/2018 20:49

I'm mainly going for de-stressing. Think that will be valuable in itself. Re-started my low-sugar and no caffeine diet today so now got a raging headache! Off to bed early with some painkillers! I know I'll feel great in a few days but the next 2 days will be rough.

OP posts:
JustLikeTheySaid · 15/10/2018 20:58

Yes just my feet and no not tickly at all, it is actually really very firm. I could definitely fall asleep through it, have to focus on staying awake! I would like to try acupuncture but I am absolutely petrified of needles.

OrcinusOrca · 15/10/2018 21:13

@Chooklass I've recently lowered my caffeine a lot and I feel really tired but I don't think I've noticed any other effects, have you cut it out completely or just reduced?

@JustLikeTheySaid I didn't see the needles to be honest, it didn't feel like the kind of environment to lift my head and peer around at what was where..! I also thought I'd have lots of needles in a small area, but they were quite spread out, eg my feet, stomach, wrists, forehead. Weird because even though they were going in the same area in my left and right I could feel them a lot more on a certain side, definitely makes me think there is something in it

Chooklass · 15/10/2018 21:26

@OrcinusOrca I'm almost cutting it out completely - apart from eg if round at a friends and they don't gave decaf! I gave up caffeine before for about a year but it's gradually sneaked back into my life. I'm quite sensitive to it and feel a lot calmer without (my skin is much clearer without it too).

Haven’t really participated in the last couple but do keep a eye.

Sorry to see so many familiar names still here. Sounds like lots of crappy times all round.

We’ve got an appointment back with Gynae and the plan is for us to go on the IVF waiting list at that appointment.

I’m slightly concerned about DHs BMI. It looks like policy is that “men with a BMI >30 should be advised they are likely to be less fertile”. They’ve published the referral form as an appendix on their policy website and it does ask for the male BMI. Saw in the news that Bristol are now refusing men based on BMI but they haven’t explicitly said they’re turning down in our area.

I asked the nurse at the last appointment and she said it wasn’t a worry. He could really do with losing some weight anyway but it just isn’t happening and he’s really sensitive about it.

I really want him to lose the weight and do occasionally get a bit irrationally stabby feelings about it which is most unfair of me. I keep them to myself.

I just don’t want to turn up at that appointment and it turns out it is an issue and we can’t proceed.

And I’d like him to lose it for himself, he gets upset looking at photos of himself, it would help his various joint pains, he’d feel so much better for it and would look better.

If the shoe was on the other foot though, I’d hate the thought of him being silently frustrated with me! I don’t really think it’s the cause of our problems either. It may be a little symptomatic of them! Probably I’m just trying to focus on something and it’s fairly irrelevant.

Maybe I’ll get some Yams in. Fingers crossed for all those having treatment, not having treatment and everything in between.

Pinkemi · 15/10/2018 22:35

@Chooklass im the same with caffiene.. i used to suffer a lot from insomnia. It wasnt until i cut it out completely that i realised how sensitive i am to it. I now have 1 or 2 cups of normal tea a day. The rest is decaf or redbush.

When i first cut it out completely the first few days were hell! I had such bad headaches and felt like i was going to fall asleep at my desk constantly. (Bit like i feel now actually on these meds. Haha) but once you get past that.. its so so much better!

Charm23 · 16/10/2018 09:05

Hi everyone! Glad I've found this thread. I'm 28, TTC #1 and on cycle 8. I find that tracking things stresses me out and I often forget and ovulation tests don't really work for me (I only get highs, no peaks!?). Instead, we try to DTD every day or every other day for a couple of weeks after AF stops. Are we doing the right thing, do you think? Any words of advice or support would be appreciated :)

Chooklass · 16/10/2018 09:59

Hi @Charm23! Sounds like you are doing a great job! I found the last few months before I could go to the docs for help really dragged along but I tried to do something different each month, eg fertility yoga, more yams (!) or gluten-free. Kept my mind off it and you never know what might help. Running out of ideas now though! (20ish cycles)
