Yammers thread 9!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Oooh yeah I was saying to dp about trying to start Christmas shopping this weekend. Must make a list 😂

Chooklass · 12/10/2018 20:54

Glad it's not just me 😂. As soon as it's October I'm on a mission!

Thanks everyone, assume you’ll all bail me out if I get arrested. I’d have liked to say what I thought but he was a customer, and with his toddler granddaughter. Also I’m a coward.

I just watched a film called Private Lives on Netflix. Anyone seen it? It’s about a couple in their 40s going through fertility treatment.

BGDino · 13/10/2018 03:06

Congrats @OrcinusOrca!

OrcinusOrca · 13/10/2018 04:58

Well this was short lived! I'm bleeding and pretty confident I'm out now. Knew these cramps felt too strong.

Can I crack on with the ibuprofen now, do Any of you ladies know if I need to do anything?

Chooklass · 13/10/2018 06:10

Oh no @OrcinusOrca Thanks, I don't know I'm afraid. It's not necessarily the end though? I've read so many stories of cramping and bleeding in early pregnancy on here and it isn't always bad news x

OP posts:
OrcinusOrca · 13/10/2018 06:14

Have taken some painkillers definitely recognising what I am seeing now. Urgh. I will also now be having a mopey weekend on the sofa..! As much as I feel upset, I think I'm coping better because it's definitely happening now. The worrying about whether the level of cramps I had was normal or not was crippling me. I feel like they were too constant and building up to this, because it's not wildly intense now just quite sore.

Technically I should probably tell my GP so it's on record, but I don't really want to...Sad we are meant to be going back to the fertility place in a couple months as we've had all our tests and everything. I guess they'll think I'm fixed even though I've had a miscarriage and stop progressing things further?

OrcinusOrca · 13/10/2018 06:15

Thanks @Chooklass I've had a few small clots now and quite a lot more bleeding, it's reminiscent of the termination I had at just over five weeks a few years ago. Thank you though x

Chooklass · 13/10/2018 06:22

I'm so, so sorry @OrcinusOrca. I know what you mean about telling doc. I haven't told gp about chemical as I was worried they would think I no longer need help to get pg, it's a ridiculous juggling act, isn't it? Be good to yourself this weekend xx

OP posts:
OrcinusOrca · 13/10/2018 06:37

When was your chemical @Chooklass ? To be fair google says anything before five weeks is a chemical so I guess that's me too. Did you check you got a BFN afterwards and then just carry on with TTC?

Brutal isn't it. I'm so glad I've got you ladies on here, this feels like home, a comfortable/safe place to be x

Chooklass · 13/10/2018 07:14

It was in June @OrcinusOrca. I only got one feint bfp on a frer, then bfn's, and my period was on time (but heavier than usual). Could also have been a faulty frer in my case since I only got the one bfp. Just continued as normal afterwards.

Think FP just arrived for me - 2 days early! Ah well, at least I can just build a big cosy nest in front of the telly and not have to go to work. Weather is totally crap today - flood warnings out (even more excuse to stay in!).

OrcinusOrca · 13/10/2018 07:18

From my already crazy amount of googling I'm seeing things about luteal phase defects and low progesterone and chemical pregnancies. Hope that's not a curse for us spotters even if and when we can get blooming pregnant..! Might be just my luck though that's for sure.

Sorry to hear FP has rocked up. Boooo Sad

Chooklass · 13/10/2018 07:27

Yeh, it seems uk doctors are really reluctant to believe in low progesterone being a problem. Was reading recently it often doesn't even show up on standard blood tests (eg day 21), but we should be arguing for regular urine tests throughout the cycle to track hormones. Especially if you have pcos (like me) which makes hormones all wonky anyway - the base lines are all off. Ugh. Right, I'm away to get a brew and a hot water bottle!

LexieJean · 13/10/2018 09:01

Oh @orcinus I'm so sorry to hear that. I had a chemical a few months ago but didn't tell the docs for the same fear. I had a 4/5 day early period, v bad cramping and clotting. That was after excruciating boobs for the week before. I just knew it was different to my other periods. Look after yourself this weekend 💐

Pinkemi · 13/10/2018 10:42

Oh no.. @orcinusOrca.. im so sorry to hear this news! Sad

In other news.. i got baby bombed on Facebook last night. (Really beginning to hate Facebook for this reason!) Although she waited right until the last minute.. the baby is due in like December! Made me wonder if she had also been struggling to get pregnant.. coz i think when we do get our bfp.. i will NOT be putting it on Facebook until ive actually given birth. Lol

Anyway the highlight of my life at the moment was taking my evening injection in the public loos of a restaurant, right before going in to watch a show. Grin honestly i felt like a druggie shooting up. Haha

Si1ver · 13/10/2018 12:10

I'm so sorry Orca it's so hard. Be kind to yourself.

Owlpatrol · 13/10/2018 13:01

@OrcinusOrca oh no honey sit tight and have a cosy weekend Flowers I am worried about spotting as well my day 21 tests came back ok but I know my hormones drop fairly suddenly around day 25 which could be 9dpo which doesn't spell good for implantation so I'm definately going to mention it. We could try herbal progesterone which I'm considering.....yam cream 😭

OrcinusOrca · 13/10/2018 14:09

@Owlpatrol anything progesterone seems really hard to get. I am so at the point where I will try something like yam cream Blush it feels like such a minefield as to what could be wrong, why does it feel like google tells us more than the NHS can? Or are we just nutty yammers over analysing and googling too much? I'd like to think the latter, in a weird way, but I've a horrible feeling its not us.

I've come into town as need to pick something up. Been sat in the car park over 10 mins already, don't really want to get out the car because I don't want to talk to anyone Sad

JustLikeTheySaid · 13/10/2018 14:42

So sorry Orca. Heartbreaking.

I am wondering if this month might be the month... Usually my boobs hurt but they don't. Usually I have cramps but the only thing I have is a weird stabby pain occasionally.

But of course now I have thought this it guarantees that I am out....

Booksandbaths1 · 13/10/2018 15:29

@Orcinusorca I'm really sorry my dear - that's horribly cruel and unfair. I know I'd be very upset but also wanting answers - which don't seem easy to find. I hope you're being really kind to yourself and taking it easy.
@sparkwood21 what a twizzle that man sounds. I'm definitely going to start using that comment though.

I'm finding the down reg meds ok so far. No side effects to report and mostly feeling ok emotionally. Maybe I'm in denial but I'm just trying not to think about the IVF and to keep busy (no booze though, boo - bought myself a bottle of no alcohol wine and having lots of no gin g&ts so I can try and convince myself 😆).

Owlpatrol · 13/10/2018 16:03

@OrcinusOrca I think the nhs are aware but they don't think it's such a bigger deal as we believe maybe?

I've been on another cleaning mission today. Went to pound stretcher and saw some cheap pregnancy tests but avoided avoided. I have a feeling ill be out. I do feel a bit "off" and bloated but cramps are well and truly here. Af due Tuesday.

Me and dp are wondering what to do tonight, I'd really love a date night but not sure if I'm in the mood to get dressed up or not!

LexieJean · 13/10/2018 22:58

Didn't feel like going out tonight so I'm watching @sparkwood suggestion of Private Life film. So far so uncomfortably true!

SparkwoodAnd21 · 14/10/2018 08:16

Lexie what did you think of it? I’m the same age as her and like you said, it feels uncomfortably true!

So sorry to hear Orcinus. Lots of love to you.

FP just arrived. Two days early. Good job I’m going out for cake today.

Owlpatrol · 14/10/2018 09:10

Yep spotting started today for me also Sad cake and Sunday roast sounds good!

LexieJean · 14/10/2018 10:13

I really like it @sparkwood I thought the kind of understated but invasive way they portrayed the various processes was so true. It was emotive without being too reliant on emotions to win you over - like it was pared back. Which I think is why it worked so well at telling their story. I'd defo recommend it. I mean it's not a laugh a minute but then what part of TTC is!
