Yammers thread 9!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Don't know how easy it will be to get my DH to go for the sperm check @owlpatrol but so far he seems okay about it...

I haven't even picked up the bloody forms yet so I'm the problem! I need to wait for this next period to come (I'm 7DPO today) and then I can go from there. Day 3 and Day 21 I think she said.

Am very annoyed with myself for symptom spotting this month when I know it won't have happened! Can't help it though. It is all just such a mindfuck.

@impatientmammy I'm glad the flashing faces are still holding out. Must be weird to want the solid to hold off for a bit, usually we are desperate for it to come!

BGDino · 16/01/2019 12:12

Hello everyone, thinking of everyone in the UK as your politicians play out #Brexit.

Not much to report here, except to say I've been to see my psychiatrist today and I'm starting a new medication - lamotrigine - to try and improve the depression. She agrees that the uncertainty about how long I have to wait before TTC again won't do anything good for my mood.

@impatientmammy crossing my crossables for you xxx

impatientmammy · 17/01/2019 23:32

Thank you ladies. I got a static smiley on Wednesday morning so we've been BDing and much as possible I still have EWCM this evening so we're in with a chance 🤞
How's things going @JustLikeTheySaid I think we all symptom spot. Sometimes you just want something so much it's impossible to put it to the back of your mind.
Where are you @BGDino. I don't know very much about the politics of them all to be honest. I'm glad the psychiatrist is appearing to be understanding. X

BGDino · 18/01/2019 08:10

@impatientmammy I'm from Australia - I live in Sydney but was born in London so both Aussie and Brit!

I heard from my obstetrician today. He got the preliminary autopsy report and thinks he has 90% of the available information, and the most likely cause of losing my son was my cervix failing, though my presentation doesn't match 100%.

More importantly, he said that after I've seen the endocrinologist (my blood tests turned up an abnormal sugar test) I can try for another pregnancy. My appointment with the endocrinologist is Feb 11 (first I could get) and the first available appointment with the fertility specialist is Feb 14, so that's worked out as well as it could I think.

I guess for the next 4 weeks I have to a) get out of this depression relapse and b) eat and drink all the things I can't while trying to get/being pregnant ;)

impatientmammy · 18/01/2019 13:32

Awww @BGDino that's really good news hopefully not being in limbo will help you feel a bit more you. How you feeling about everything? Xx

cupcakesandglitter · 18/01/2019 15:52

@impatientmammy hope you're getting your BD on! Xx

@BGDino oh that's brilliant, I'm glad you've got a better answer and you've got a month to relax and do everything!! Make the most of it, enjoy the wine (have a drink for me too!!) x

Chooklass · 18/01/2019 17:00

Hey Yammers, Been lying low recently but just checking in and catching up with the thread. FP due in a few days but have had a weirdly symptomless cycle and don't think I ovulated, so not holding out much/ any hope! Good news is I finally got my consultant and GP to communicate and sort out the progesterone supplement prescription so I've got those for next three cycles. Just to take between ov and FP. Excited to be trying something new but don't want to get my hopes up.

OP posts:
BGDino · 19/01/2019 08:25

@Chooklass what does the progesterone do?

JustLikeTheySaid · 19/01/2019 08:26

That's great news @BGDino

9DPO here (although I think 10DPO). May test tomorrow but may not bother.

Very few symptoms to spot. I seem to have two different types of cycles - ones where I get a load of cramping in the TWW and ones without any. This is one without any... so who knows. I had loads of what I suppose should be sticky but felt almost more wet/creamy discharge for a few days but that's all stopped now.

Who knows! I don't know if I am brave enough to test and see a negative again. Think I will just wait until FP arrives :(

Owlpatrol · 19/01/2019 20:27

That's good news @BGDino but what does a failed cervix mean? Sorry if that sounds harsh/stupid Flowers

Cycle day 12 here however felt ovulation yesterday!!! So quickly dtd today as first time this cycle so fx I might be in this cycle. Humph been a busy stressful week at work so who knows. Not been using opks which has surprisingly taking the pressure off. Do been amazingly affectionate this week like running me baths! Let's see eh

@JustLikeTheySaid who knows who knows keeping fx here

@impatientmammy how you doing Star? Xx

Chooklass · 20/01/2019 10:10

@BGDino I spot from around 6dpo to FP which might be a sign of low progesterone, so consultant said I could try supplements. She basically said she don’t think it will work though! UK docs seem really reluctant to believe in low progesterone for some reason! It’s the last thing to try before IVF ... got everything crossed as prog supplements recently worked first for my cousin after 4 years TTC. Scared of getting my hopes up x

Negative on a cheapie test just now. Have got some first responses ones but I now have all the usual pre FP cramps so doubt I will bother. Hopefully FP will come Wednesday so I can have my Day 3 bloods done on Friday otherwise I will have to wait until next month which will be mega annoying :(

BGDino · 20/01/2019 16:32

@Owlpatrol cervical incompetence is where your cervix starts dilating too early. If you know it’s happening you can put a stitch in it to try and hold it closed until later in the pregnancy, or be given progesterone, or both.

Owlpatrol · 20/01/2019 17:32

Ahh ok @BGDino is it something they scan for or did you already know?

Oh doll @JustLikeTheySaid how annoyong keeping everything crossed fp doesn't turn up

BGDino · 21/01/2019 02:53

@Owlpatrol you can scan for it but it was my first pregnancy so I had no prior history and I also had no risk factors to tell my obstetrician that it was something we needed to worry about. He was completely shocked when they phoned to tell him I’d lost the baby as he’d seen me a week earlier and there were no signs of anything being wrong. Obviously it will be totally different with the second pregnancy if we get one, he’ll be watching me like a hawk.

BGDino · 21/01/2019 02:56

Also a little update, I’m feeling much better, don’t know if it’s the new psych meds or the fact that we have a certain plan and timeline going forward (probably both). Spoke to my lovely boss today and I’ll be returning to work in the second week of February, gradually.

@JustLikeTheySaid crossing everything I have that you get to have your bloods done xxx

Owlpatrol · 21/01/2019 07:06

Oh that sounds good @BGDino sometimes just having some sort of a plan makes it seem a bit better as there is a focus. Thanks for explaining the cervix thing, as id never heard that before

Me and dp decided to start saving for a holiday this year and pregnant or not it gives us something to focus on. And if I end up pregnant and can't fly well at least we've started saving! I think that's what was holding me back a lot last year. I've also bought a journal (sorry if that sounds twee) to help me focus on goals which aren't baby related

BGDino · 21/01/2019 13:47

We're going to need a new thread soon! Anybody got any good ideas for a title? So far the only thing I've managed to come up with is "Yammed If You Do; Yammed If You Don't" Hmm

Owlpatrol · 21/01/2019 19:08

Like it, what about Yampon's not allowed? 😂

Owlpatrol · 21/01/2019 19:09

Im feeling pretty sorry for myself today, had a heated debate with my boss about holidays and so feel totally bummed. I swear what's the point in making plans!?

impatientmammy · 22/01/2019 02:03

Hi guys, been busy between assignments work and symptom spotting 😂🙄 I'm 5dpo and fertility friends suggesting I don't test until aweek Wednesday which I think I'll stick with I didn't get a BFP until them last cycle anyway and I'm not great freinds with the white stick.
Glad things are looking up @BGDino
How you doing this cycle @Owlpatro where you thinking for holiday or has your boss tottally ruined it?
Hope your ok @JustLikeTheySaid ? Any sign of fp or a BFP? X

JustLikeTheySaid · 22/01/2019 21:51

No FP but have had two negative tests now. Hoping it will arrive tomorrow or I will not be able to have the first set of bloods this month.
Hope holidays get sorted - bosses are annoying sometimes!

inquisitivebadger · 22/01/2019 22:37

Hi everyone,
Hope it's ok if I hop back on board. I commented a few months ago on a previous thread. So sorry to hear everyone's bad news this month. And sorry to see so many familiar names still here.
FP arrived yesterday- 16th since we began TTC. Had tests and they've said it's 'unexplained infertility' so we just need to keep trying until we qualify for IVF. The Dr got her maths wrong though and booked us in for an appointment in July which will only make it 18 months rather than 2 years. Don't know how long waiting time is so going for it anyway.
Feel really down this month. Think I'd persuaded myself that a new year meant miraculous things would happen! Also feeling like a bad person because I know my best friend (who just got married) is going to start TTC v soon if she hasn't already. I love her to bits and don't want her to suffer what we're going through but I'm already dreading having to smile through her pregnancy while I'll be desperate for my own. Hate what this horrible journey is turning me in to!
Read this whole thread before posting and had to laugh at how angry everyone was with the Duchess of Sussex! I swore in the car when I heard that particular baby bomb. Used to like her but how dare she marry a prince and get fucking pregnant so easily!
Sorry for the essay. Feels a bit better just writing down how I feel. Really hoping there'll be some good news for you all soon xx

BGDino · 23/01/2019 13:27

@inquisitivebadger I know what you mean my best friend has a 6 month old, and I don't read news articles about the Duchess of Sussex (or other pregnant famous people) as it makes me irrationally mad.
