Yammers thread 9!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

@Chooklass I'm going to try yam cream, shamefully, as soon as I get a positive opk. thought I'd go the natural route first. Do they give progesterone in the UK then are you in the UK? As I thought they didn't here x

Cardi86 · 30/10/2018 22:16

@OrcinusOrca tamoxifen is like Clomid apparently but doesn’t cause the womb lining to be too thin. DH is going away for work on CD 14-16 so hoping we won’t be too unlucky! Although I feel at this stage it won’t really make any difference! What stage are you at?

ImpatientMammy · 31/10/2018 00:03

@Owlpatrol that's shocking you haven't it's not as if you can just pick a new man 😩 I get why they say no to me as we already have a child together but surely the premise should at least be everybody gets a chance. God that's an awful way to put it but it's been a long day 🙈 x

Chooklass · 31/10/2018 05:40

@Owlpatrol I'm in UK, and am really surprised I was offered progesterone! Everything I'd heard suggested it wasn't prescribed in UK! I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I've always thought my spotting was due to low prog so will be interesting to see what happens. Will have to wait til next cycle now though.

OP posts:
OrcinusOrca · 31/10/2018 06:29

That's rubbish @Owlpatrol

@Chooklass be interesting how you get on with progesterone, part of me hopes it doesn't change the spotting because I hope that's not an issue for either of us and just a weird quirk!

@Cardi86 we are on cycle 11 I think, been TTC about 18 months in total but had a few months off in that time and my cycles can be a bit funny. Was diagnosed with PCOS in July and started metformin in August. I had a chemical last month which was my first cycle on the higher metformin dose. Hoping that my body is resuming normality and that it might be able to happen just on the met. I spot before my periods for about a week though and I worry that's a problem. We don't have any DC. I find this group of ladies really good, the world is full of people who blink and get up the duff so it's nice to be surrounded by people who are in similar boats.

Owlpatrol · 31/10/2018 06:48

@ImpatientMammy I know it's totally pants! Dp doesn't think it's much of an issue but that's ok because he has his children. It's purely him having previous children. I'm aware that sounds more bratty than I intended....
@Chooklass I'm really excited to hear how you go because I can spot quite a bit from cycle day 23 ish so I'm intrigued

Chooklass · 31/10/2018 15:55

Yeah, @Owlpatrol, I won't lie - I've totally got my hopes up about this!

OP posts:
Owlpatrol · 31/10/2018 17:53

Gonna start yam cream tomorrow!!

Pinkemi · 31/10/2018 18:54

Must step away from Dr Google!! Confused had the the runs today quite badly and of course "googled" if this was a symptom. face palm

Id been doing quite well up until now. Also got damn heat rash under my arm near my armpit on my left arm... but weirdly not on my right!

I need you guys to convince me to step away from Google before i start panicking. Cant bear it that i have another week to go. Sad

Oh btw.. happy Halloween. Lol

Owlpatrol · 31/10/2018 19:31

@Pinkemi I would tell you to step away but not gonna lie, I would be too. It's too damn exciting!!

Well my opk was negative tonight so I either ovulated already or it was anvoluntary cycle because I haven't had a true positive or I've missed it somehow. Now I'm not too worried as we've dtd enough, plus going to try and pounce tonight. I think if I ovulated it was yesterday morning or this morning as had some cramps both days..... going to start yam cream tomorrow and not gonna lie. Going to Google all night

Owlpatrol · 31/10/2018 20:35

Right so now Google is making me think twice of using yam cream because aparently it can stop you getting pregnant! Most sites say to use from ovulation in small amounts....

Chooklass · 31/10/2018 21:35

Time for us all to step away from Dr Google for a bit?!

I've decided not to go back to reflexology but am going to try acupuncture next!

Happy Halloween Yammers! 🎃👻🍠

Pinkemi · 01/11/2018 10:03

@owlpatrol maybe dont use it? Better to be safe then sorry!

So last month i got the Ava bracelet that tracks your bbt etc. Ive been still using it this month but not really paying attention to it when i sync.. except for this morning. My pulse and my temp have dropped three days in a row. Sad thats normally not a good result.

Im trying to hold onto the hope that its still early really (had my FET on sat and its only Thurs) and that it will go back up tomorrow. This is awful.. so hard to just relax and forget about it. Sad

OrcinusOrca · 01/11/2018 11:08

@Pinkemi I mean this in the kindest way. TAKE IT OFF! And stop googling! It will do you no good. My friend's temp dropped to baseline for 4-5 days then went up when she got her BFP. Technology is not infallible either. No amount of googling or stalking your bodily functions will have an impact on the outcome of your IVF. It's easy for me on the outside to say I know, but for every crap story you'll find there will be a good one elsewhere.

OrcinusOrca · 01/11/2018 11:15

What's everyone doing today? It's very wet here, cleaned the chickens out this morning and trying to get on with some work now (but clearly on a MN tea break first!). I was soooo grumpy yesterday it's unreal. I think I am more reasonable and a little less tetchy today. In the TWW, think I will find FP arriving really hard this month. I'll panic the chemical was a complete fluke and I'll never get two lines again etc. I feel a bit more positive and OK about things but I worry that will flip when FP shows up. Metformin definitely seems to have given me shorter cycles, more like 27-28 days I think, ovulated CD15 apparently which is a solid 2-5 days early for me. Work is getting very busy now which might distract me a bit I suppose. Am trying to get organised for Christmas too, that's one thing I really enjoy this time of year, it's my favourite.

@Owlpatrol I feel like everything recommended by someone can have negative consequences, the same can be said for B6 and I didn't have any negatives with it but it made no difference either. And I think we've discussed Angus cactus on here and I didn't think that was for me either. I'm trying to avoid doing random things myself that might help (was reading about baby aspirin and yam cream too haha) and stick down the straight and narrow route for a bit, not sure how long that will last though! I said I wouldn't do OPKs but then I did the other day 'just to make sure' I was ovulating when I expected post chemical

Pinkemi · 01/11/2018 11:49

@OrcinusOrca i know i shouldnt be wearing it.. but im like i paid so much bloody money for it.. i wanna wear it. 🤣 but your right.. im hoping from tomorrow that i wont have time to Google etc as going to be pretty busy!

Its chucking it down here today too. Just been out running errands and my feet are soaking! I really dont have nice looking shoes good for the rain! Just stopped for a buckwheat pancake full English breakfast and a cup of coffee (remembered i wasnt drinking it until id finished it.😑) topping it off with a healthy fruit smoothie.. all because i dont want to have to venture back out in the rain! Haha

Ive always wanted chickens but our garden is too small! Are they easy to look after?

Si1ver · 01/11/2018 12:01

I'm with @OrcinusOrca, take the bracelet off @Pinkemi. Nothing you do now is going to change the outcome. If it's positive you can sell the bravely as barely worn and if not you can put it back on next week. You do NOT need any extra stress. Also I drank one single cup of coffee a day all through treatment.

I actually bet my husband a bottle of gin that the treatment had been unsuccessful as I was so convinced (from my frantic googling) that I wasn't pregnant. You're not going to know until you POAS.

I had to buy him the damn gin as well 😂

OrcinusOrca · 01/11/2018 12:03

@Pinkemi sounds like a lovely morning! I've been tempted by that bracelet so I can see why you want your monies worth

The chickens are easy to be honest and we have a really small garden too. We have a space down the side of the house (gated from the front garden) that is about 8 x 25ft which we have utilised. Half of it has concrete slabs the full length of it as the prior owners used to have wooden storage units down there. We've put a coop and two runs on the slabs, and we use a hemp type of wood shaving on the base for them to scrap around in so they're not actually on the slabs. Super easy to clean though and the beauty of it is that rats and foxes can't dig into it. The worst part is that one of our hens is an absolute bitch to the others. I've just had to buy a jumper for one of the girls as she is so bald from feather plucking

Owlpatrol · 01/11/2018 12:50

Hiya yep I know what you all mean but I've done the straight and narrow for a while now so thought I'd make an attempt at doing something......

Stuck at work on lunch break feeling a bit pants. Have put yam cream on first time this morning so nothing to note yet!!

I am worried but I think we'll I've done nothing for 6 months now so I'll try anything once! We were going to dtd again last night but was so tired

@Pinkemi all routing for you xx

Aph413 · 01/11/2018 17:24

I've got everything crossed for you @Pinkemi
Nothing much going on for me here. Cycle day 38, a few strong looking opks but nothing positive. I had a false peak reading on the clear blue digital which concerned me a little, I know I should probably go to the GP about my cycles but I'm really in denial about it all.
Hoping the low down sharp pains today are ovulation and that the insane amount of dtd we're attempting pays off.

Chooklass · 01/11/2018 17:42

Errr, @OrcinusOrca I totally need to see a picture of your chook in a jumper!!

One of mine is baldy at the moment as she moulted dramatically last week!

OP posts:
Pinkemi · 02/11/2018 10:51

@Si1ver you were on holiday in your tww...how did you have time for Google? 😂

@OrcinusOrca sounds like a great set up for your chickens! Ive told my DH that when we move house we are getting them.

Agreed about the picture of the chicken.. poor girl!

@Aph413 thanks. :-)

Si1ver · 02/11/2018 10:54

@Pinkemi, no I went back to work 2dp5dt. There was LOTS of time to frantically obsess and Google 😁

I also need to see a picture of a chicken in a jumper. Please.

OrcinusOrca · 02/11/2018 11:35

Haha it hasn't come yet but I will endeavour to take one when it arrives

Pinkemi · 02/11/2018 12:08

@Si1ver ooh like me then! It was just pure fluke that i had the last couple of days off today! Been sorting house sale stuff so been keeping busy. Also got a jam packed weekend this weekend which is good!

I have to get this off my chest.. but ive been feeling so frisky the past couple of days! (Normally a sign of AF on its way.) Sad my clinic said no to sex.. so im assuming it's no to myself erm.. sorting myself out? Blush
