Yammers thread 9!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Yeah I do feel a bit anxious at the moment, we've had some problems with both our cars which have cost us a lot and I'm trying really hard not too worry so much. No wonder women are stressed and not having children till later on in life!

My dp turned 44 this year and time is starting to tick now, it was fine when we met with the age gap but it's starting to hit home now, we just never thought it'd take this long Sad

ImpatientMammy · 28/10/2018 16:28

Awww @Owlpatrol men can have kids much later in life than women I feel like you said he's had his sperm tested. Did you get much information for the drs? X

Owlpatrol · 28/10/2018 16:33

@ImpatientMammy no he's still not been Angry but he is going to go this month. He has some other health issues (doesn't effect fertility) so we've got a lot on our minds. However. I don't mean to be doom and gloom I am positive about this month. How are you doing? X

ImpatientMammy · 28/10/2018 20:10

@Owlpatrol I'm pretty sure I'm out this month. OPKs suggest I didn't ovulate and I don't think I got any ewcm (it seemed to be closer to sticky). We also haven't had half as much sex as we have been since trying. AF is due Tuesday, I've had no symptoms yet but I just have a real feeling of def not pregnant. We're in Tenerife next cycle for ovulation so hopefully it'll happen there. I have everything crossed for you x

Owlpatrol · 28/10/2018 21:46

@ImpatientMammy aww thank you, I'm currently waiting for a positive opk as well. I'm on cycle day 12 so there's still plenty of time. Trying to keep Zen like. Oooh holiday sounds fab and well earnt! X

maddiie · 29/10/2018 11:04

Sorry I keep disappearing through all the IVF talk as I can't really begin to understand and don't know how to contribute. Feel like I'm in a different stage of all this ttc tomost people here. Hate coming on here and just talking about myself but just wanted to ask if anyone has experience with PCOS and Clomjd? I got prescribed it this morning. Annoyingly I've got to start on CD5 and I'm on CD12 So have to wait until my next cycle to start, guarantee this will be another 120 day cycle just to make it extra painful. Hope all are doing well xx

Chooklass · 29/10/2018 11:38

@maddiie You could try some supplements in the mean time? I've heard great things about myo inisitol for kick-starting pcos cycles xx

Pinkemi · 29/10/2018 11:42

sorry for radio silence guys.. I've been trying to sort of not think about it all! haha Its hard to find a happy balance between pretending its not happening... and hoping like hell it is!

Hope you are all doing ok.. Just checking in to say I'm still here. xx

OrcinusOrca · 29/10/2018 14:32

I don't know @maddiie sorry. Have you got to be monitored? Some people seem to get scanned on clomid and I don't know what means you do or don't need that.

I know I bang on about metformin but there are scary stats about how common miscarriage is if you have PCOS and metformin mitigates this supposedly. After my chemical last cycle I'm still a bit worried that it's the PCOS that did it.

maddiie · 29/10/2018 16:34

@OrcinusOrca Doctor was adamant that I start on clomid and only try metformin if in 4 months I'm not pregnant. They didn't mention anything about monitoring I'm thinking of calling back to make sure because seems weird to not even follow up and check it's working

maddiie · 29/10/2018 16:34

Thanks @Chooklass I'll look into that xx

OrcinusOrca · 29/10/2018 17:33

So weird how they all do things differently. Maybe there are different strengths of it?

Owlpatrol · 29/10/2018 21:50

@maddiie don't worry hun I'm way off IVF as we don't qualify in NHS I just did all the research prior to the doctor telling me we don't qualify!

ImpatientMammy · 30/10/2018 08:57

Guys if you don't qualify for IVF (I don't) will drs prescribe meds? I've been put forward for a second set of bloods next month. Why don't you qualify @Owlpatrol ? Sorry if I've asked before x

maddiie · 30/10/2018 10:23

@ImpatientMammy Have you tried clomid or anything like that? She said IVF is an option further down the line but that we will try clomid first. If clomid doesn't work we will try metformin/both together. If that didn't work she said we could look into injections, then ovarian drilling and finally IUI and IVF.

ImpatientMammy · 30/10/2018 10:58

@maddiie I'm getting another set of bloods next cycle but I don't know if they'll prescribe anything as I have a little boy conceived naturally (of which I am sooo grateful for). I'm ashamed to say I seriously considered buying clomid online but knowing my luck I'd end up spending £60 on tictacs or breaking my body even more. When did you start clomid? x

Pinkemi · 30/10/2018 11:34

omg this week is dragging... Hmm how is it only Tuesday?!

ImpatientMammy · 30/10/2018 11:39

How many eggs did they transfer @Pinkemi ? Bet your symptom spotting to the max bless you x

Pinkemi · 30/10/2018 11:59

@ImpatientMammy They transferred 1 good quality one... and we have two in a freezer. Smile

I have been trying really hard to just carry on as normal.. and not listen to any "symptoms" I might be having. Only difference is I seem to be really tired really easily.. but thats a known side effect from the progesterone suppositories i am having to take. Sexy eh? Confused

The difficult bit is trying to find a happy medium.. I wake up in the morning and say hello to my baby. Blush And then i try and "forget about it" for the rest of the day. (Although hard when work is so quiet.)

So yeah.. the only other change is Im limiting my caffiene intake to 1 cup of normal tea and 2 cups of decaf.. no coffee. Hopefully thats good enough!

Cardi86 · 30/10/2018 14:36

Hi ladies,
I would love to join your thread, sounds like your all having similar experiences to me- unfortunately!
I’m 31, TTC #1, cycle 13, CD5. I have PCOS.
I’ve had 5 months of Clomid but that caused uterine lining to be too thin so this month I’m taking tamoxifen.
Really hoping for success this month!! We’re taking a break for Christmas regardless.
Best of luck to you all xx

OrcinusOrca · 30/10/2018 18:18

Welcome @Cardi86 I've not heard of that t drug, what does that do? Fingers crossed for you.

@Pinkemi fantastic that's great that you've got two frozen as well. When do you have to test?

Owlpatrol · 30/10/2018 18:45

Ahhh so confused had an almost positive opk yesterday so tested today and thought it'd be positive but it was lighter! Sad I've got sore nipples so everything pointing to ovulation but I hope its not my body playing me and not ovulating this cycle Sad I'm wondering if it would have been positive yesterday morning or something....I'm cycle day 14 so I'll keep testing for a few days

Pinkemi · 30/10/2018 18:47

@OrcinusOrca not until 7th Nov! Still a bloody week away. 😂

@Cardi86 welcome!

Chooklass · 30/10/2018 20:17

@Cardi86 Welcome!

So I had a follow up appointment with fertility doc today and they said we have to have tried for 2 yrs to be referred for IVF (another 6 months), then at least 9 months waiting list. I'll be nearly 40 by then. Feeling really fed up.

Have been prescribed a progesterone supplement to try though and he recommended acupuncture too so I'm gonna give that a go.

OP posts:
Owlpatrol · 30/10/2018 20:43

@ImpatientMammy due to dp having previous Sad they'll basically do everything right up to requiring IVF

@Pinkemi keeping everything tightly crossed for you

@Cardi86 welcome! X
