Yammers thread 9!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

@ImpatientMammy I am doing.. ok. Just hate all this waiting and uncertainty. I'm such a control freak and all this "Could be then.. or it could be this" is just driving me potty! haha Not as potty as TTC naturally did though. I'm really quite surprised at how calm i seem to be about it at the moment. (Might be different on Saturday though and then the TWW.)

My main annoyance is that I seem to have gained nearly half a stone in weight! Sad I'm like 6.5lbs heavier then when i started. Ive tried really hard to just eat healthily, but chocolate and ice cream have sneaked their way back in.. oh and bread.. god i love bread!

To be honest I am trying to eat like I am pregnant. I dont want my body thinking I am starving it, so it then rejects the baby.. you know? (Thats my excuse to eat masses and im sticking to it. haha)

Si1ver · 25/10/2018 12:41

@Pinkemi that's great news. I remember googling the stats, it's normal to have lost some by day three so you're going really well to have got all your embryos this far.

I lost two out of five. They weren't robust enough to survive the freezing and defrosting, but apparently would have been ok to transfer of they'd been all that we had. Instead they'll transfer the strongest embryo to give you the best chance.

Fingers crossed for Saturday for you

OrcinusOrca · 25/10/2018 14:27

@Booksandbaths1 dried sage is what you want to burn x

Chooklass · 25/10/2018 14:53

The yammers have moved from yams to sage 😂

Aph413 · 25/10/2018 15:23

Sounds like a dinner recipe. Sage yams. Or are we just wise old sweet potatoes now?

If anyone has seen deadpool you'll understand why I've taken to referring to this while process as maximum effort.
Taking opks everytime I go to the bathroom, all of the vitamins, using an ovusense, and dtd every other day no matter what. Day 31 after a 128 day cycle. Feeling fed up and wanted to moan

ImpatientMammy · 25/10/2018 17:10

@Pinkemi I totally get what you mean a pregnant person only needs an extra banana a day though. I don't think you need any extra in the first trimester but it's worth checking up on.
@Aph413 I'm just gunna hang my head in shame your doing amazing!!
we've totally lapsed this cycle it's kind of nice not wondering if I'm pregnant or not though as we've only had sex three times and I don't think I ovulated anyway.
Guys I think I've accidentally started a rumour about sage I think it's cleansing and calming I'm not sure it's said to help fertility but please correct me if anyone knows otherwise x

Pinkemi · 25/10/2018 17:32

@ImpatientMammy Ah i know.. But i have been calorie counting now for so many years that I dont think my body knows what is normal and what isnt. So i am just eating when I am hungry and trying to keep it as healthy as possible. Thought about re-joining Slimming World.. as apparently it is the only "diet" that is approved by midwives.. But I dont want to jinx anything.

ImpatientMammy · 25/10/2018 18:03

I joined slimming world and got to my goal
Weight so now if I get pregnant before I get fat I'll be able to attend free throughout my pregnancy x

Chooklass · 25/10/2018 18:52

Just had my first reflexology session. Not sure how I feel about it! I suppose it was quite relaxing but I got bored. Not sure I believe in it either, and I think that sort of thing only works if you buy into it. It was nice to chat through TTC stuff with someone though.

OP posts:
OrcinusOrca · 25/10/2018 21:46

@Chooklass that's a shame. I'm not sure if I buy into it in terms of fertility etc but I think it will help me chill out a bit so I think I'm going to go every fortnight for a bit of me time if nothing else. A window where I'm not on my phone replying to messages, MNing or (worst of all!) glued to the work laptop.

My work is really hotting up at the moment. My boss is not great, no clue how to manage people and is pretty rude at times. Luckily he is on leave for two weeks from next week and I can't wait for a break..!

Chooklass · 26/10/2018 13:24

I think it's definitely valuable for de-stressing, which is really important for TTC. Think I prefer yoga for that as following instructions clears my head more!

What's everyone up to this weekend? I'm meeting up with some friends and looking forward to just chilling out.

OP posts:
Pinkemi · 26/10/2018 15:14

@Chooklass Real shame about Reflexology. I love mine! Its the only real "me time" I get all week where I can just relax and daydream. I was so relaxed this week that i think I actually nearly fell asleep. haha

SOOOOOOOO....

I have my transfer time for tomorrow! 10am! I am FREAKING OUT slightly. Very nervous. haha

All 4 have still survived.. and they are looking like they expect at this stage.. although she did say that they are maybe a bit slower than normal. Confused So we will be having a discussion before it happens to work out if two will be transferred or only one. It all depends on if they reach blastocyst stage or not.

I really want to be able to just relax at home for a bit after the transfer.. but people keep throwing spanners into the works! Already seeing friends in the evening and planned to just slob out at home until I need to get ready... do some washing.. housework and what not. Just found out some family friends are coming to stay and we are expected to go and see them. Hmm Already said I have plans.. but not sure what I can make up that sounds better than "I just want some time at home." Grin

Chooklass · 26/10/2018 15:36

@Pinkemi that's so exciting! Just invent a yukky bug that nobody would want to catch! I wouldn't feel at all guilty about pulling a social sickie under the circumstances - you defo need to put yourself first in the next few weeks!

OP posts:
Si1ver · 26/10/2018 16:00

I think you're about to put your back out @Pinkemi, you'll need to lie down quietly with some painkillers.

Good luck tomorrow, everything crossed xx

Pinkemi · 26/10/2018 16:11

I've made a compromise.. told DH that after the transfer I want at least a couple of hours to just slob at home.. we will then go to family and see them for a couple of hours before going off to have dinner with our friends. That way im doing the "done thing" but also getting some relaxing in too.

@Si1ver how long does the whole transfer thing take? I know it all depends on how long we are discussing for before its done.. but roughly? I was thinking like an hour?

Si1ver · 26/10/2018 17:46

The actual transfer? Like five minutes.

Plus them checking you are who you say you are, consultation on how many to put back, best course of action, getting your pants off, follow up and paying? 30 minutes.

It's a really quick procedure.

Owlpatrol · 26/10/2018 19:42

@Pinkemi eeek I'm so excited for you! I definately agree and take some time out in the afternoon. Plus on the plus side at least you'll be kept busy from overthinking for a day or so.

Not much to report here cycle day 10, dtd once so far no poss opk so not started yam cream yet. Wanted to pounce dp tonight though. Treating ourselves to a curry though! Not sure when to start using preseed

RanchoRelaxo · 27/10/2018 00:26

Hi everyone, have been reading this thread for the last week or so and just wanted to wish @Pinkemi the best of luck for the next two weeks, really hoping it goes well for you..

I have been TTC since the start of the year and had a miscarriage last month, just feeling shit about the whole journey.. like we waited untill we had a decent house, then waited untill DH got his pay rise, then spent all those months waiting to conceive, only for us to just lose that baby, seems unfair when people I know just 'accidently' get pregnant... Don't get me started on soaps, any storyline where someone is cheating is bound to end up with a one night stand pregnancy - very unrealistic right 😂

FairyAnn · 27/10/2018 09:03

Good luck @Pinkemi, got everything crossed for you 😊
We've got our first appointment Monday so I'm hoping treatment starts soon after!

I get what you mean about social sickies. My OH and I are not planning anything for the foreseeable future because we don't know how this is going to play out. Fortunately, our friends and family are aware of what we're doing and so are very supportive.

Pinkemi · 27/10/2018 09:12

Morning guys! Thanks for the well wishes. Had a call from the clinic to say we have 1 thats very good for today.. another which is beginning to form and the other two are a little slow. Confused so we may have 2 for today but more than likely 1.. and hopefully the others are good quality to freeze. fingers crossed

Si1ver · 27/10/2018 11:16

That's great news @Pinkemi. Both my frozen embryos were frozen on day 6, they just need the extra day to hatch.

Fingers crossed for you

SparkwoodAnd21 · 27/10/2018 15:21

How did it go Pinkemi?

Welcome @Flappergirl86. I had an ectopic a few years ago too. Managed to conceive DS a few months later. It’s gone tits up now but I’m ancient.

Owlpatrol · 28/10/2018 08:01

@RanchoRelaxo welcome xx
@Pinkemi sending all the baby dust in the world Star

@FairyAnn we've put a few things on hold but mainly because I want to just be at home at the moment. I've been trying self care the past few days and it's really helping.

Ovia has gone all weird probably due to my spotting last cycle.... says I'm cycke day 12 and I'm almost getting a positive opk. But says my fertile week not due till Tuesday!! And I had ewcm yesterday!? Dtd last night anyway but this is so weird! I bet it'll do that annoying thing when you get a positive opk it changes the fertile week!!

FairyAnn · 28/10/2018 08:18

Same here @Owlpatrol, I just feel more comfortable and less stressed at home. Trying to self care, and get my health as good as it can be, ready for treatment 😊

ImpatientMammy · 28/10/2018 11:16

How did things go @Pinkemi ? Sending love.

Welcome @RanchoRelaxo sorry to here about your loss.

Hope your all holding up ok yammers

Nothing to report here just checking in. OH has got an appointment tomorrow morning to talk about sperm. I'm hoping to slightly highjack his appointment and see how my blood results came back. X
