My AF arrived yesterday so I'm off the September bus already Sad

Cycle #2
Trying for baby #2
Age 33

This month I am going to track my cycle using ovulation strips. DTD lots last month so I'm gutted but onwards and upwards!

Day 5 of flashing smiley here. I feel like I'm doomed to fail this cycle has anyone else had this? Particularly late in cycle?

Newbie21 · 26/09/2018 07:20

@veeboo once it starts flashing you can test at any time. Apparently some people have very quick hormone surges so you can miss it. I've only been using them for a couple of months but have always got my static in the evening. How many days are you in cycle and when did you start testing?

PaintingOwls · 26/09/2018 07:37

Ooh so this is odd. I'm on CD20 and had a rogue bit of EWCM, suggesting ovulation? I had EWCM on CD13, and AF is due in 20 days' time. What's going on, is this a second ovulation?

veeboo · 26/09/2018 08:17

@Newbie21 I started CD9 and I'm now cd24. I have used cheaper tests in the Pm since Sunday (2nd day of flashing smiley). Still no positive. I assumed that if I missed the surge it would go back to a blank circle?

@paintingowls if your at isn't due for 20 days it's possible you are ovulating now than cd13

toomanyflatwhites · 26/09/2018 08:30

It's not even 8.30 in the morning and already today i feel like I've been trough the mill - think we are out for this month...last night DP got stressed about his work trip so instead of DTD he brought his laptop to bed and we had a row..
Then this morning we gave it a try but got interrupted by the toddler Shock Thankfully we heard her footsteps so she saw nothing - but now DP leaves for his trip and I think we will miss the window. Only DTD once (Monday) - am so disappointed!!

PaintingOwls · 26/09/2018 09:01

DOH, that was a typo. AF due in 10 days time!!

PaintingOwls · 26/09/2018 09:02

Ah that's rubbish toomanyflatwhites sorry to hear that Cake

toomanyflatwhites · 26/09/2018 09:11

Thanks @PaintingOwls, this work trip is soooooo annoying!!! Am just hoping there is a slim chance that ov will be delayed because I am mega stressed and we will still get a chance at the weekend - but then maybe that's unlikely if I already have flashing smileys? Haven't tested yet today but if I get a static smiley I think I will scream!

CiaoBrucester · 26/09/2018 09:34

@toomanyflatwhites we failed last night too, didn't even manage dinner let alone special cuddles! Fingers crossed for the weekend for you!

toomanyflatwhites · 26/09/2018 10:36

Oh noooo @CiaoBrucester - it's so much pressure isn't it? I lay awake this morning from about 5am stressing about whether we will EVER manage to conceive again when it's so hard with a toddler who only goes to sleep after 9pm and both working full time. I had an early loss in August too so just wishing we were having a bit more luck with timing!
Good news (I think?) is that I got another flashing smiley today, so keeping fingers crossed I get these until the weekend! Last month I went straight from zero to peak in a day though so it's not exactly consistent....

stormtrooperjulian · 26/09/2018 12:07

So I’m around 3dpo now and I’m determined to be less obsessive this cycle. AF is due on the 6th and I’m going to try not to symptom spot, as it didn’t help at all last cycle. Im not sure whether we dtd at the right time anyway so I don’t even know whether we have any chance.

TwittleBee · 26/09/2018 12:58

stormtrooperjulian In a similar boat as you! AF due 6th and unsure if we managed to DTD close enough to Ov. Hopefully we both did

toomanyflatwhites · 26/09/2018 14:15

Chatting with a friend today and she pointed something out - I was working on the assumption that once you get the static smiley on a CB OPK you have got 12-24 hours, but actually I think I have it all wrong! The clearblue website says:
These peak fertile days are the day prior to ovulation and the day that ovulation takes place. Studies show that a surge in LH level occurs 24-36 hours prior to ovulation,
So as the static detects the LH surge which is 24-36 hours before ov, and then the egg is good for 12-24 hours, as it's now Wednesday (and I'm getting a flashing smiley but will see DP again on Saturday) we should still be able to try this month, non?

TwittleBee · 26/09/2018 14:31

That's how I've always understood it toomanyflatwhites and to also remember that just because you see an LH surge doesn't mean your body will successfully ovulate. It's why Drs don't recommend OPKs

toomanyflatwhites · 26/09/2018 15:31

@TwittleBee I can imagine many doctors think that those of us with all of this TTC knowledge (or not as the case may be...) are a bit of a nightmare!
I just feel so much better now, it's like a huge weight lifted. If we don't manage to get a BFP this month that's one thing, but not getting it because we didn't DTD on the right day because of DP's stupid work trip would have really upset me!

muddypuddlejumping · 26/09/2018 20:20

@PaintingOwls the same happened to me today! I think I'm 6dpo and due af in 7-9 days (was early last month). Who knows what it means - probably nothing 🙈
I'm trying not to obsess this month though.

TwittleBee · 26/09/2018 21:10

toomanyflatwhites Haha yeah they're probably eye rolling away at us! I should probably consider going to see a Dr soon as it has almost been 1 year of TTC. Love your username btw.

muddypuddlejumping good luck at not obsessing haha

veeboo · 26/09/2018 21:27

Ladies...if you've been using clearblue opks...once you've had the static smiley does it go back to a blank circle? Trying to work out if I've missed ovulation this month but could still get the flashing smiley I'm getting

Newbie21 · 26/09/2018 22:08

@veeboo I think it goes to flashing smiley - not that you are meant to do it as I don't think it is accurate or tells you anything if done after ovulation but I did it once anyway just because and it was flashing again

MuddyElephant · 26/09/2018 22:14

@stormtrooperjulian @muddypuddlejumping hope you're managing to avoid symptom spotting....I am too! Took a break from tracking baby and cm this month so trying to stay relaxed on the symptom front too and repeating "it's a sign of AF" if I do notice anything. AF due around the third so getting myself ready for tracking next cycle. Just realised I'll get to stay on this bus as AF will be due again on the 30th Grin

Wishful30 · 26/09/2018 22:15

@PaintingOwls
I've noticed I get ewcm a few days before af. Only for the last few cycles, but I got so obsessed with it all I actually noticed it at that point more than around ovulation 🤦🏻‍♀️

I also had it with one of my chemicals, and have heard that it's also a sign of early pregnancy.

Writing this, I realise how obsessed I was and I'm
Glad I'm not charting anything this month!!
Every sign/symptom could be af, could be bfp.
You won't know until you miss af or start throwing up, even an early bfp isn't always certain.

Fingers crossed yours is an early pregnancy sign!! Wishing you the best of luck for a sticky bean. I'm watching from the fence for now xx

veeboo · 27/09/2018 06:37

Still flashing and now cd25. Declaring us out this month! We go in holiday tonight so fx for you all and will catch up with how everyone gets on. We are back in the 5th so hopefully in time for some bfps but I just feel devastated this month. It's so hard to work out if something gone wrong or I'm using the opks incorrectly!

SophiePie · 27/09/2018 11:07

Hi, can I hop aboard? I'm out for September but hoping for the best this month!

Cycle #2
Trying for baby #1
Age 27

Currently on CD13 but usually ovulate quite late (18-21) so still a while yet but still temping and using OPKs in the meantime. Good luck everyone!

toomanyflatwhites · 27/09/2018 13:09

Hi @SophiePie!
Ahh @veeboo I'm sorry...how many days flashing did you have?
I'm on day 4 but still on CD18 so it's still feasible (expecting to ovulate tomorrow) but I'm still a bit surprised to have had so many days flashing though!

Chocolate89 · 27/09/2018 15:15

@veeboo last month i had 7 days of flashy smilies, convinced myself that we had missed it as usually ov on cd14! Was gonna just leave it for the month but then next day (cd22) had lots of egcm so tested again got my solid! Dh reckons i was so stressed about not getting the solid smiley i wasnt ovulating 😂

I think there is a chance you can miss it with only testing in the morning. I had started testing in the afternoon too with the cbd. But make sure you watch out for a temp rise and cm so you can confirm ect! Enjoy your holiday hun xxx
