Too early for an October bus?

My AF arrived yesterday so I'm off the September bus already

Trying for baby #2
Age 33

This month I am going to track my cycle using ovulation strips. DTD lots last month so I'm gutted but onwards and upwards!

Just waiting for af to arrive at the weekend. Can't believe I've made it to 12dpo without testing. 😂

@toomanyflatwhites sorry if I’m being dim but can OPKs detect pregnancy too or were you just using it as an example test?? X

@sbhf1987 not dim at all, it's a reasonable question! There have been quite a few threads on it recently that explained it very scientifically, that apparently HCG (as detected by pregnancy tests) is like LH (as detected by OPKs) with a hat on (or vice versa, I can't remember!) and the OPK still recognises HCG with its hat on and shows as positive. Disclaimer - it does have to be a very clear/strong positive OPK, as otherwise it could just be showing low levels of LH that we have throughout our cycle.
I wouldn't have relied just on that, but as I was just doing it to show DP (and I have hundreds of OPKs!!) it seemed worth a try!

@toomanyflatwhites that’s interesting I never knew! I use the CB advanced digital opk so wouldn’t work for me. I’ve deleted my glow app today so I’m not looking every day lol I know I can test next Sat if I want so just need to try relax (yeah right) til then! Luckily I have a massage tonight, away this weekend, my friend is staying Monday and we have a spa day on Tuesday next week so hopefully it goes quickly xxx

Help! I am so confused and stressed. I joined the bus a couple of weeks ago but because we didn't have much of a chance to DTD during ovulation I assumed I was out and I decided to take a bit of a break from trying as it was all getting a bit stressful.

So I think I ovulated on the Saturday or Sunday which would have been 29th/30th September as I got a peak OPK on Friday and another on Sunday morning which had gone by the afternoon. However we only DTD on the Tues + Wednesday (25th/26th). I assumed that we had missed it because we DTD too early.

Then on Tuesday (9dpo if I O'd on the Sunday 30th) this week I had some bright pink spotting and a bit of brown spotting too which I have never ever had before. Not in my previous pregnancy or in normal cycles. But I took a test on the Wednesday at 10dpo and it was BFN and then today I took another FRER and it is a BFN. I don't have any pregancy symptoms aside from possible veiny boobs which I did have with my first.

Any ideas on what is going on? I am so confused and upset and I just don't understand what is going on anymore. Surely if I was pregnant I would have had a BFP by now at 11dpo with my period due tomorrow (short cycles).

My AF is now three days late but I’ve had 5 BFNs and on/off cramping for the last few days. My cycle has been a regular 29 days for the last 7 months so for it to start going irregular just as I am starting my TTC journey is annoying to say the least. Just want it to come so I can start next month.

Would people recommend using OPKs early on or waiting a few months? I didn’t want to start tracking properly (apart from through an app) right off the bat as I’m worried I’ll become obsessed and stressed. But if my cycles are irregular I think I might have to.

FX for all those still on the bus! I’ll be joining the Nov bus very soon.

@SophieBear13 hiya I had one random month of spotting, it hasn’t happened since and no idea why it happened. My doc said it’s normal to have the odd funny cycle x

@GiGi18 this happened to me. I had cycles like clock work 27-29 days, first month TTC I had a 31 day cycle, really messed with my head. Then I had 2 more strange cycles so booked acupuncture and everything’s back to normal now. I def recommend OPKs as since TTC and using them I’ve ovulated on days 14-18 for the last 4 months so it makes it easier to plan to DTD when we usually can’t be bothered x

@GiGi18 I was the same as you. Didn't want to start using OPKs early on. After 7/8 months with no luck I decided to use them this month. Had 8 days on flashing smileys and thought I must have missed it but got a static smiley today. Ovulation is later than I thought it would be in my cycle so they are a good way to find out when your ovulating

@sbhf1987 Glad I’m not the only one! So frustrating! Really glad you’re back to normal! Acupuncture sounds really good, will def look into it if this keeps up! Looks like I’ll be doing an Amazon order for OPKs later today! X

@Trying93 Yeah I didn’t want to start all this testing early on as I can easily become obsessed! But I think you’re right and at least it will reassure me that we are trying at the right time. Glad you got your static! Good luck! X

@GiGi18 I use the CB Adv Digital OPKs. More expensive but they’ve helped me get to know other signs of ovulation. First month I had 5 flashing smileys before my static, I’ve had at least 3 every month but now know I only get EWCM on the 2nd day of flashing and it lasts 3 days, last day being ovulation day so it gives us 4 nights in a row to DTD to give ourselves the best chance x

@GiGi18 I was the exact same I didn't want to become obsessed but I actually feel better this month knowing that at least I am ovulating. And i had been relying on apps which say I was ovulating 3-4 days ago. Good luck to you too

I forgot to take my progesterone last night and this morning... now I think af is coming early 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️ dammit!

Bleurgh had a day trip to Ikea and all I saw was loads of cute newborns or pregnant women everywhere there! not feeling bitter at all

Also had my bloomin smear so extra grumpy today

£45 a session near me but I bought a bulk of 11 I think and it worked out £41 per session x

I'm taking it in the hope the reason I keep having chemicals is that my progesterone drops too low after ovulation.
I had to argue the toss with the fertility doctor to actually give it to me.

When I saw the acupuncturist yesterday, she asked me what my day 3 and day 21 progesterone results were... and wanted to know my oestrogen result too. (There's me thinking private healthcare would be better)
I've only ever had day 3 progesterone test which proved I ovulated. Other than that I'm in the dark and being pushed towards IVF.
I'm going with my gut and putting off the final IUI until I've seen a gp.

Awww bless you yes you'd def think they'd do more. I've been offered day 21 and potentially day 5 bloods and that's the nhs with a child already so private should be doing a lot more for you. It costs enough x
