Journey18 · 01/09/2018 15:02

Has anyone had IVF/ICSI any knowledge would be useful

Thanks

Blondcat · 01/09/2018 15:05

@journey18 you may find some good threads on the infertility boards which could help?

Journey18 · 01/09/2018 15:13

@Blondcat Thank you

PixieN · 02/09/2018 09:42

Hi @Journey18 I hadn’t realised the vitamins could have that effect! I’ve noticed that my nails have really improved - they used to be really brittle and break easily, but they look great now.

I’m out again this month as AF arrived yesterday - two days late annoyingly Hmm

Good luck to everyone else x

Blondcat · 02/09/2018 09:53

@pixieN sorry for af and late just to mess with your head!

Kescilly · 02/09/2018 10:06

That’s so annoying, @PixieN, I’m sorry.

Noodella18 · 02/09/2018 10:38

Sooo, I only introduced myself last week, but happy to say I got my positive this morning... so I guess the wedding won’t be going ahead any time soon (provided it sticks...)! Don’t want this to be a dick move gloating kind of thing as I know some people on this thread are struggling and we’ve been incredibly lucky as only our second cycle, just wanted to drop by and tell you all in case it gives some people hope. Fingers crossed you all get your bfps soon xx

Wow! Congratulations @Noodella18 looks like 34 is a perfectly good age to conceive! Fingers crossed everything goes really smoothly for you Flowers
I'm pretty sure I'm out this month as DP has been poorly so we last dtd on CD14 and I ovulated between CDs 16/17. Just looking at my bbt graph and I'm temping higher today and yesterday than the same CD last month but think that's just clutching at straws.
I really feel for everyone struggling and fed up this month. Especially here in solidarity with the UTIs @Blondcat they can just feck right off can't they?!!?

AstroKate · 02/09/2018 11:06

Huge congrats @Noodella18 - it's not a dick move, you must be so thrilled

@PixieN That sucks big time, especially as it pissed you around with being late. I was due tomorrow and AF has appeared today 😞. Can't be too disappointed as it's first cycle but I must confess to have spent the week wondering 'what if' and getting slightly carried away.

So September cycle for me..joining a few others of you! I've also purchased preseed as it's been mentioned Ona few other posts. I'll also join @Melamine and @Journey18 With vitamins... might as well throw everything at it 😆

Blondcat · 02/09/2018 11:18

@noodella18 congratulations fx for a happy healthy pregnancy xx

@chelonia thanks they suck and yup can feck right off. Just hoping the antibiotics don't set off the thrush again Hmm

Anitapage · 02/09/2018 14:16

Hi, can I join? I’m 37 and ttc for the first time. I had a chemical pregnancy in June which was very upsetting as it was total surprise and now I’m worrying that I’m too old and I’m not going to be able to conceive or that it’ll happen again. AF is due on Friday and I can tell I’m already stressing about it! This is my first cycle trying so I guess I just have to wait and see what happens.

Blondcat · 02/09/2018 14:44

Hi @anitapage and welcome. Chemicals are sadly quite common and probably more than we even know if you don't test early or af just a bit late but you didn't test. I think the main thing is not to worry about it. Hard not to get caught up when ttc.
Goodluck try not to symptom spot as bodies are cruel and a lot of early pregnancy symptoms are the same as af.

OP posts:
Anitapage · 02/09/2018 15:37

Thanks @Blondcat, I have been doing exactly that, and I made the mistake of doing an early test, which was negative, but I’ve been going crazy thinking I can see a faint line. But then logically I know that that I’m probably not. I need to take a step back and learn how to do this without going completely loopy! I seem to be surrounded by friends with young babies and so many women at work are pregnant it’s hard to deal sometimes.

BambiOnIce80 · 02/09/2018 16:11

Congratulations @Noodella18! 🎉💐🎊

Sorry for AF's @PixieN and @AstroKate. Hopefully we'll all have better luck in September 🤞🍀

Welcome @Anitapage 👋 I've taken stock recently and am trying to take a more relaxed approach and not obsessing over every tiny twinge (easier said than done, of course 🙄). I think I'm going to not bother with the OPK's this cycle - I know I ovulate on either CD15 or 16, so there's not really any point POAS' to tell me something I already know! Sticking with the vitamins and fertility lube though 😉

Second acupuncture session booked for tomorrow too, so let's see if I'm more zen tomorrow 😄

Journey18 · 02/09/2018 18:19

Hi @PixieN :( @ af I've just bought more vitamins so will see how I get on the next few months. I didn't really notice any change taking it last month other than af being late.

ckc45d10 · 02/09/2018 21:58

Congrats @noodella18!
For those who mentioned supplements, always run them by your doctor and you may want to look into absorption of your supplements. Some supplements may be cheaper than others regardless of how much it says is in them. What matters is the absorption and effectiveness. There are many different types of folic acid. Folic acid is usually the cheapest, but may not be as well absorbed. Methylated forms of folate are often better absorbed, but can be harder to find. Another supplement that may support fertility is CoQ10 (the ones that absorb better are water and fat-soluble). Hope this helps!

PixieN · 02/09/2018 22:22

Thanks ladies. I tried not to get my hopes up as I knew it was very unlikely this month but like you @AstroKate, I did have a few ‘what if?’ moments.

Congratulations @Noodella18 fx for a healthy pregnancy. It’s always lovely to see bfps on this thread x

Interesting idea about vitamin absorption @ckc45d10 I keep meaning to get some CoQ10 but haven’t got round to it yet.

Melamine · 02/09/2018 23:16

Welcome @anitapage! And more commiserations to Flo-havers.

T-minus 2 days until mine is due. I’m not testing. Would be too soon to get a line anyway being only 7ish days since O. Will see if it arrives, if not I’ll wait until at least Saturday. Fx!

Noodella18 · 03/09/2018 00:29

Thanks everyone for the congrats! Only 9/10 dpo so not letting myself get too excited yet, but fingers crossed. Feeling pretty terrified to be honest, that’s normal right?

Re supplements we’re on Pregnacare Conception his and hers (pink pill for you, purple for him) and I was also taking some conenzyme q10. Another interesting thing I was researching was possible link between low iodine levels and autism - has been reported in the bmj so seems credible? Have had a few portions of seaweed (stir fried with sesame seeds and sesame oil mmmm) the last few weeks. And we also used some Tesco fertility gel this cycle. So something worked?!

Re symptoms, had slightly swollen boobs but the more interesting thing was getting a slight sore throat at 6dpo which continued for 4 days but didn’t develop into anything. Also had weirdly fuzzy teeth at 8dpo to the extent that I changed my toothbrush head in the middle of the night and was brushing and brushing but couldn’t get them feeling clean. Really weird!! Maybe something to look out for in the dreaded 2ww.

CNizzle · 03/09/2018 07:55

@noodella18 congratulations! Lovely news x

Im 6dpo & AF due here next saturday. I'm symptom spotting like a crazy person, even tjough i know its way too early. If anyone had told me a couple of years ago that ttc would turn me obsessive Ihonestly wouldnt have believed them! Im usually so laid back about most things.

AnitaPage · 03/09/2018 08:40

Hi, can I have some advice, how reliable are the early detection pregnancy tests? I definitely had a BFN using clear blue but not due for a few more days.
I’ve also been thinking about my weight and while I am not significantly overweight I could easily do with losing a stone. Is anyone else thinking about this?

Oxted2018 · 03/09/2018 09:04

Congratulations @Noodella. Lovely news - you must be thrilled.

Sorry to hear AF got you @Pixie. Fx for September- It feels like a lucky month x

BambiOnIce80 · 03/09/2018 09:11

Good morning @AnitaPage 🌞 I've done lots of reading around the sensitivity of the FRER's and the general advice is that they're about 80-90% accurate if you're 12dpo, but they're at their most accurate from 14-15dpo. That's basically saying that they're most accurate from the day AF is due for a lot of people or the day after - that's why I try not to use them until after AF is due. I also find getting a BFN on the FRER's and then having to wait for AF to turn up is quite depressing. I'd rather wait for AF to be late, personally. If you do use them, make sure you use them with your first morning urine as your wee will be more concentrated and the HCG level should be higher if it's there👍

I'm quite lucky with my weight, but lots of advice says that it's best all round (whether your TTC or not) to get your BMI into the reference range. I'm trying to eat well and keep going with my running... which has been tricky with the weather yo-yoing between crazy hot and raining cats and dogs!
