Welcome to the new ladies, we're quite a bunch now!

Well I got my period! Defo a chemical, I'm so going to try and not test till I'm due on next time!!! Smile
So back to day 1....

CritterTamer · 06/09/2018 20:55

Hey ladies, does anyone else take raw maca powder? If so do you have any suggestions on ways to take it? I’ve been mixing it in almond milk drinks and yoghurts but it’s so disgusting it makes me heave! Any suggestions for making it more palatable? So far the only thing I’ve found that hides the taste is a large bowl of curried lentil soup but I don’t want to live on that lol 😁

Taxgirl1 · 06/09/2018 21:29

Thanks for the welcome and the lovely supportive messages ladies. It means a lot. @orchid222 I have just started to take pregnacare tablets but I feel hopelessly out of my depth. Really don't know enough and where to start. Thought I might try some acupuncture. I've got an appointment with the recurrent miscarriage clinic on Monday with the NHS - will see how that goes. Have heard great thibgs about Lesley Regan... I know this is tmi but I collected some of the tissue and the EPU have said they can send it off for testing. I suspect that they will find chromosomal issues but will be interesting to know.

@mattsmamma I'm going to Google that now. Have you been to see him? I've seen his name mentioned on a few other posts - been frantically googling over the last few days.

@weasledee it's so hard to wait though isn't it? I can't hold off.

BTW what does TCM stand for?

I have to say you have a wonderfully supportive network here. Thanks ladies. I'm glad I've found you xx

Taxgirl1 · 06/09/2018 21:31

Just to say I'm not seeing lesley regan - meant to add that I was contemplating paying to see her privately but thought I'd see what the local hospital have to say...

MATTSMAMMA · 06/09/2018 22:21

TAXGIRL1 - yes I have been a patient of Mr Shehata and can’t recommend him highly enough x

MATTSMAMMA · 06/09/2018 22:24

Also TAXGIRL there is a thread called IMMUNE/NK ISSUES - pred thread 21. A lot of the ladies on there have been to see him or Prof Regan. Another is Prof Quenby whi specialise in this area x

Russkispy · 06/09/2018 22:43

@CritterTamer I bought the powder maca root from Holland and Barrett. And mixing it into my herbal tea in the morning. Gulp it down without even tasting it! The only way.
@Taxgirl1 TCM - traditional Chinese medicine

Chatbash72 · 07/09/2018 07:15

@ckc45d10 is Coq10 is better than ubiquinol? I know the ubiquinol is more absorbent but don't know about the blood sugar aspect..

karryk · 07/09/2018 09:16

Morning all Smile

Still no AF here which is annoying now Hmm

Just to throw my tuppence worth in about the immune issues. I went down that route and unfortunately it didn't work for me as I had a horrible reaction to the steroids and had a mmc. I then quit the treatment and had dd1 a while later without any issues so if it doesn't work for you it doesn't mean it's the end of all hope Wink but if it does work then hurrah! I have two friends who have lovely daughters and they both were on the programme xx

Floofsquidge · 07/09/2018 14:56

Random question, is anyone using more than one fertility app to track ovulation? I’m using natural cycles and the Ava bracelet. Both use differing forms of temping, with Ava also tracking heart rate, sleep etc but no input for OPK tests, whereas NC will include OPK test results in the calculation. Ava seems more consistent with the temping (easier to see rises etc), but NC seems more accurate because of the OPK input. Case in point this month: NC I had positive OPK on CD 13 and the app calculated OV on CD14 after temp rise. Ava on the other hand has changed its mind twice when ovulation happened, originally confirming CD15, and now shifted to CD16, which seems unlikely given the surge was morning of CD13. Annoyed we may have timed DTD too early if Ava is accurate. Wondered if anyone else is either using Ava and what their experience is, or whether you’re using more than one app?

Karigan198 · 07/09/2018 15:02

Hi everyone. I haven’t checked in for several weeks as been gallivanting to various countries. Back to work Monday though :(

I haven’t been able to catch up yet so I’ll just wish everyone well.

Was reminded to check in as limbo finally ended today! AF looks like it’s here. Only took 11.5 weeks!

Taxgirl1 · 07/09/2018 15:52

@MATTSMAMMA thanks for the info. Was the NK treatment successful for you? How long was it after your initial appointment with Dr Shehata were you able to ttc? I'm curious. Going to do some more reading. I feel as though my immune system goes into overdrive when I'm pregnant - I seem impervious to all bugs. Can the steroids cause issues for the baby?

@karryk thanks for sharing your story.

@floofsquidge I only use one - natural cycles.

mondaycando1 · 07/09/2018 16:03

So cd6 now and 20 opks purchased so here's to cycle 3. Looking at at the school gates at pick up for ds1&2 and for the first time in a long while I see really how old I will be if this works and I start it all again Shock

Cleozeta · 07/09/2018 16:04

Floof - I am using ava and fertility friend. Only my first month with ava though and only cd8 so not been through fw yet. Have given up temping and am instead imputting ava's temp readings into ff. I will still use opk's too.

Karigan - glad to hear limbo is over. That was a long one!

karryk · 07/09/2018 16:35

What's Ava? Blush

Floofsquidge · 07/09/2018 17:46

Karryk it’s a bracelet you wear while you sleep and monitors heart rate & takes lowest temp from your skin, so is supposedly more accurate than remembering to take your temperature the traditional way before moving when you wake up. Anyone who has one has incentive vouchers to pass on for discount.

karryk · 07/09/2018 21:26

That sounds like something I might be interested in. I used to find temping easy but since dd1, I can never predict exactly when she might get up so it's a bit hit and miss Smile

SparrowSG · 07/09/2018 22:09

Hi all,

Just a quick message as I’m away but catching up with the posts. For those asking about Inositol, this was one of the ingredients in the Ova-Max tablets my IVF Dr recommended I take. I’ve attached a photo of the ingredients list here as it may be of interest to others. I’ve bought a few things on the list (as I couldn’t get hold of tablets), esp the Chasteberry as it’s meant to help regulate cycles.

Over 40 ttc - August baby dust for me!
MATTSMAMMA · 07/09/2018 23:54

TAXGIRL - I was very fortunate and conceived on the first cycle of Mr Shehata’s plan at age 42. I felt great on the steroids and had no issues at all apart from the moon face which is common with steroids and this was only after being on them for 12’weeks. I appreciate some people may have issues with steroids but I certainly didn’t. I had just been 1 month previously to see an nhs consultant at our nhs recurrent Miscarriage dept and they kept putting the emphasis on age being the problem but this was not the case and I conceived straight away. I am also like you - never catch colds and I also have hypothyroidism (hashimitos) with antibodies so this was an extra factor. Also Killer cells can fluctuate so there may be times when they are high and other times when they can be be nearer normal but as I understand it each pregnancy can cause the killer cells to increase. The only issue that can arise with regard to the baby is a cleft palate but they say it’s not that common and to take folic acid which is a given when ttc anyway Smile.

MATTSMAMMA · 07/09/2018 23:56

Also nowadays cleft palate is something which can easily be rectified

Funkypuzzle · 08/09/2018 14:48

Thought Id drop by.
Welcome new members!
I am approaching 42 and TTC #3..
I have 2 boys age 8 and 5.
2 years ago I terminated at 13/40 due to positive harmony. I decided then that I did not want TTC again and my family was complete.
But I experienced a renewed urge ttc over the summer. #lastchancesaloon.
I had mirena removed 20/8/18 and haf a light period 25/8.
I am now 4dpo..
I am taking 5mg folic acid, 600mg Coenzyme 10, Vit B1 and Vit D 100.

My EWCM has dried up, my nipples are tender and I have dull back ache.

Funkypuzzle · 08/09/2018 14:49

BTW I meant a positive harmony test not just "positive harmony" 🙃🙃🙃
the baby was much wanted..

Martydog · 09/09/2018 11:39

Welcome to the new posters. Sorry for the bfns.
I am 12 dpo and I think I got a very faint bfp this morning. It is so faint I don’t think the line will even show up on a photo. I am going to test again tomorrow and hopefully it will go darker. I burst into tears when I saw it. 🤞🤞

Chatbash72 · 09/09/2018 11:46

Ooh @Martydog 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Af is due over the next few days and trying very hard NOT to symptom watch 😞 I hate this time

weasledee · 09/09/2018 13:51
