hello ladies, i have been told by my doctor that every other day is more t`han sufficiant when ttc. However I am panicing that if i dont bd every single day then when i ov there will be nothing there, this is not helped by the fact that I dont quite know when ov will be only some time in the next week.
So opinions please - will there really always be sperm there if i bd every other day or shall i stick to the side of caution and wear my poor dh out? thanks

The sperm will be there for every other day, and they will have a chance to 'strengthen' too, rather than being shot out there every day! my gp said 2-3 times a week is enough.he also recommends abstaining for 3-4 days before ov, then doing it just before you ov.i did this last time, and got pg straight away.

Good luck

mine are 4 (5 next week) and 2.7

spugs · 30/05/2007 13:02

ooo going to check next time i go to loo (ttc makes you share far tmi!) My girls are 6 and 1, after my first labour i said never again but came round eventually. I had also said my dd2 would be the last but changed mind as I fell accidently (ended in mc) and realised how much i wanted another. I do think i must be mad

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 30/05/2007 13:03

as mad as me

i want loads.....dp already warming to dc4.

btw, this baby to be made will be 4th one between us - dp has a son who is 5.

spugs · 30/05/2007 13:05

boys are weak

beansprout · 30/05/2007 13:13

Spugs - I thought the same about sticks and temping but starting temping last month and got a chem preg and this month got a bfp. I'm not saying it is the answer to everything but it really gives a much clearer picture of what is happening (and more importantly, when you can stop shagging!!)

scorpio1 · 30/05/2007 13:14

does everyone just have sex when they need to??

spugs · 30/05/2007 13:14

I heard that as well, this is my 1st cycle trying. I mc 3 weeks ago with an unplanned pregnancy, at my follow up scan on fri they said i had an active ovary and was going to ov (when i have no idea) so were trying now, i still have the faintest BFPbut its so faint if you wernt examining it in huge detail it could be missed so therefore i dont think ive ov'd yet. I hate ttc its so much simpler to have an accident, a bit more of a shock but at least you avoid all the am i arent i>

Scorpio - duh! I didn't realise that our ds's are the same age. Ds was born in Oct '04 (and is a scorpio, just like his mummy!) Dh had better watch out!!!

every other day .. from the consultant in charge of the assisted conception unit at KCH

best for sperm

so unless you have medical research that shows otherwise I wouldn't disagree with experts on this one

beansprout · 30/05/2007 13:15

Not just when we need to but we are old and knowing when you don't need to is quite useful

scorpio1 · 30/05/2007 13:17

Fio - of course, you are a woman

Beansprout - my ds2 was born beginning Nov 04, scorpio too yes, i am cd41 today...and counting. last cycle was 41 days.before that i dont know, all over the place cos of coil.

spugs · 30/05/2007 13:17

congrats on your bfp beansprout, i will prob start temping in a few months if i dont get lucky before then.
