Who’s trying SMEP this month?

Support thread for those giving smep a go this month! I’m CD6 so going to start soon. All fingers crossed that this works for us all this month.
Debating whether to buy CB OPK or just stick with IC - might do IC until around FW and then see if I can find a few old CB lying around to confirm a positive.
Anyone else giving this a go?

Hi all. I had a MC on 17th June but ovulated on about 30th (got peak fertility on digital CB OPK) But we only DTD once and it was on the peak day. Does anyone think there’s any hope? AF due in about 6 days but that could be messed up due to MC (and that would be tracking my cycle as if MC was day one of my cycle if that makes sense). Really hoping there’s hope! Was devastated when MC happened. Have the same symptoms as before, sore boobs and tired but that could be AF too. I’m too terrified to even consider testing after all that’s happened! X

Firsttimer16 · 07/07/2018 19:48

Hi @Fae1989 sorry to hear about your mc - there is certainly a very good chance of you dtd on the peak day. All fingers crossed for you - when are you going to test.

@Caramelgospel I use IC OPK throughout the month but then use clearblu when it gets near my fertile window to check and know for sure. The IC are cheap enough to do throughout the whole month though just incase you have another surge randomly later on. Welcome and good luck!

@firsttimer16 thank you lovely! I’m not sure when to test as I’m really nervous now. I tested quite early last time and now I think I’ll wait until I am due on at least but who knows when that is as I feel like my cycle is messed up! How are you getting on?

@CaramelGospel -I’ve only used the CB digital but I found to work (it’s a bit pricey) and it’s really easy to use :)

Caramelgospel · 07/07/2018 19:59

@fae1989 I was told that the first couple of months post miscarriage you are more fertile- I don’t know how true that is but wishing you every bit of luck. It’s such an emotional roller coaster but hoping for happy news for you soon x

Caramelgospel · 07/07/2018 20:01

@firsttimer16 thank you for the advice, I had never heard of a second surge so definitely helps and I was worried with CB that I would miss the surge by only testing once a day.

Fae1989 · 07/07/2018 20:02

@CaramelGospel - thank you lovely. I read that there’s a decreased risk of MC the sooner you start trying too so that’s hopeful! TTC is so stressful isn’t it?! All the best of luck to you too, fingers crossed we all get what we want. Will be worth it in the end :) x

Caramelgospel · 07/07/2018 20:03

@fae1989 thank you so much for the advice and keeping everything crossed for you. It’s so reassuring to chat to people going through the exact same thing. I hope we all go on to have our little bubbas soon x

Fae1989 · 07/07/2018 20:06

@CaramelGospel - thank you for your advice too, it’s really helpful and reassuring like you say, a lot of us are in the same boat! I hope we all do too, our times will come I’m sure! Fingers crossed for us all :)x

Firsttimer16 · 07/07/2018 20:09

@Caramelgospel - the reason I do it is a read that some times you can get surges when your body prepares to ovulate but maybe you don't actually ovulate that time, so you may surge again later and actually ovulate. Not sure how common that is though....but it's a good way to pee on a stick without peeing on a hpt stick 🤣 so takes away some of my urge to do that!!

Caramelgospel · 07/07/2018 20:15

@firsttimer16 sorry for the stupid question- I am new to mumsnet (and loving it) is hpt a pregnancy test? I have driven myself mental taking multiple tests over the last few months so you are right peeing on a stick for ovulation is a relief! I am definitely going to make sure I follow your advice. Thank you so much xx

Firsttimer16 · 07/07/2018 20:26

@Caramelgospel yes sorry a Home pregnancy test!
I love ovulation sticks I must admit - they don't have the pressure of a pregnancy test but you know you're working towards trying to conceive by doing them!

Fae1989 · 07/07/2018 20:38

@firsttimer16 @CaramelGospel with you both on that one! I just potter around waiting for the OPK test and with a HPT I’m pacing up and down with anxiety haha! X

Angelmiracle · 07/07/2018 20:39

@Fae1989 Hi my dear so sorry to hear about your MC...that must be so hard 💕x Praying this is your time now 🤞

@CaramelGospel welcome! Yeah same as @Firsttimer16 I start after AF (Aunt Flo ie period) with ic (internet cheapie) opks from Amazon. Then approaching suspected ovulation I use CB advanced opks. I order box of 20 from Dr Fertility with some PreSeed (lube) Good luck 🤞

Fae1989 · 07/07/2018 20:45

@Angelmiracle thank you lovely, fingers crossed this time but feeling doubtful as I normally feel it when I ovulate but not this time :/

Awesome advice, what a good idea - the CB are so pricey aren’t they? This forum is so lovely. Hope you’re doing ok! X

Firsttimer16 · 07/07/2018 20:55

@Fae1989 how far along were you when you had mc?
I had a vv early mc cycle before last (about 5 weeks). I then ovulated a week later than I would've expected after it - and I felt very (tmi) dry the whole month even around ovulation when I got positive OPK. We didn't get bfp that month unfortunately despite dtd over the right. This month (so after my first proper period post mc) it feels much much more like normal and I've just got my positive OPK at the right time. So your body may just need a little more time to regulate again. 🤞 for you

Fae1989 · 07/07/2018 20:59

@firsttimer16 sorry for your loss too. Pretty much the same boat, about five weeks. Like you say maybe it’s best to wait and your cycle goes back to normal again. On the tracking app it was saying I’d be fertile too but I guess you can get a positive without having actually ovulated. Fingers crossed
For us all now! X

Angelmiracle · 07/07/2018 23:48

After those ovulation pains today I have been feeling really emotional all evening. Almost like I could cry but not quite that bad. Never had that mid cycle before is it normal enough??

NoseringGirl · 08/07/2018 08:35

@Angelmiracle I get all sorts of weird mood swings that I put down to hormones. I didn't used to ovulate as regularly as I do now so I still feel a bit new to it! I've noticed it can be quite variable for me though. I do have the tendency to blame everything on my newly working hormones 😳 Saying that, I definitely notice a difference in how emotional I can get from ovulation right through to AF.

HoldOnToHope · 08/07/2018 08:45

Hey everyone, not sure if you'll remember me, but I was here at the start of the post!

@HoldOnToHope Congratulations best wishes for a H&H pregnancy 🎉😊

Angelmiracle · 08/07/2018 10:59

@NoseringGirl yeah I will just blame it on hormones. I get AF regularly never had such a feeling of emotions like that- maybe its the big egg I released 😃

I got my peak opk Friday night should I have ovulated yest do you think? Saying as I dont temp and that awful ovary pain yesterday 🤔
