Who’s trying SMEP this month?

Support thread for those giving smep a go this month! I’m CD6 so going to start soon. All fingers crossed that this works for us all this month.
Debating whether to buy CB OPK or just stick with IC - might do IC until around FW and then see if I can find a few old CB lying around to confirm a positive.
Anyone else giving this a go?

Putting up my ic opks out of interest:
Top - CD10 thought I was going to ov early
Middle- fmu today CD20
Bottom- 3hr hold 9pm

Been trying to check ewcm better - I've had it the last two days but more watery today. Been waiting on Ovusense since 24/June emailed them for an update! I have never checked cp either but tried tonight and felt it right away it is so low lol!

@angelmiracle eek! Well to be honest we DTD the night before my static then still did 3 after that so ended up doing 4. But then again I didn't have the flashing smiley beforehand just the empty circle.

@TheMagicTorch It has fallen nicely at the weekend so I will see if DH is agreeable 🤔 We done 4 in a row last month didn't work but we started 2 days before pos opk so that might have had an impact. Just so glad to see it.

Last month I also detected my surge later in the evening with tesco opk and got smiley the next day so must keep in mind to check at night time ---- if I need to next month 😂

@Bas27 we started BD on CD4...basically as soon as we could! Then did on CD6 and CD7....break on CD8 which is when I did the OPK and was convinced I had ovulated.

Who knows...it's all so very confusing when one normally has a regular cycle! I'm going to start temping again from tomorrow morning and keep doing an OPK until CD20 at the very latest, just in case it was a false surge and I have another one around my normal time.

In the meantime, I seriously have to find the strength to BD every other day. Where do you ladies get the energy?!?! Don't get me wrong...we always had regular sex but I swear I'm starting to feel muscle fatigue down there already!!! Part of me is wanting to go back to 2-3 times a week but the thought of having a wee one next spring is keeping me going

Plus...my best friend literally just told me she's 12 weeks along with #2. If I didn't want a child badly enough before, the thought of both of our kids growing up together has certainly spurred me on now!

I tested when I woke and it was bfn - not, like, maybe, just really, really negative. It was a frer at 12dpo so feel like it would have picked something up. I'll still test Monday night to be sure before my next leg of the trip (a minibus and mountain roads aren't something I fancy preggers!) but I'm pretty sure I'm out now.

It's so weird because I still have the metallic taste - it's so strong I had difficulty sleeping last night! - and couldn't finish my breakfast from queasiness. But I guess it's just my mind playing tricks on me.

Anyway, I guess I can have wine now!

Sorry for the BFN @WaitingforDaffodils! I had a BFN at 12DPO with DS2 and a BFP the next day. I do wonder if my days were wrong but maybe he just implanted late. Hope you're having a good trip and enjoy the wine!

My temp went up this morning so after the positive OPK yesterday, I'm fairly confident that I'm in the TWW now! Very excited! Going to keep going as per SMEP though!

@WaitingforDaffodils sorry for bfn but don't give up yet, with ds1 I didn't get bfp until after 12dpo (not sure when as I wasn't tracking anything - but I know I tested when I thought I'd be due, and didn't get anything until a week later!)
Finally got static smiley today 🙌🙌
Had to wake dh up when I got home last night from a friends to dtd and he's out tonight so not sure when we will make it happen but have to get on it!
Excited the tww is finally in sight.

Expected to see a static smiley today as CD 15 today and got my static this time last cycle but still a flashing one so not sure what is going on... hoping to see it tomorrow but will enjoy a day off from BD today anyways!

@waitingfordaffodils sorry for the BFN but you are never out till you’re out so keeping everything crossed for you! The symptoms sound so positive!

Wonder if it would be worth taking another OPK tonight as might get my static smiley then - what do you think?

@Becca444 yes I would test twice a day once you see static.
I got circle on Monday.
Flashing on Tuesday morning.
Static on Tuesday evening.

Thanks @angelmiracle and @bas27 I will test again later. I definitely feel some twinges that feels like ovulation so I’m convinced it’s happening and I should see my static smiley!

@Becca444 yes good signs - I had ovulation pain yesterday that's why I really wanted to check last night!🤞🤞

Hi lovelies, thanks for your messages. I still have the taste so I guess it's not over yet... Still, this is my current view which is helping me bear up 😁. I've been reassured by everyone that one glass of wine is ok & it's soooo goood after a month without anything!

Okay...what the eff?! Four positive OPK's!!! I googled symptoms for PCOS and I literally have none of the symptoms....so I'm mentally ruling that out.

I had a period! I can't be pregnant...can I? We've been trying for three cycles and AF has been bang on time every single time. The two (cheapy) hCG tests I did were both BFN, and if I was pregnant from my last cycle I'd be surely showing up positive by now, even on the cheap tests.

Guess SMEP is the way forward until my body decides what it's doing

So I apparently can't count. 5 positive OPK's. There's 5 there

@Kelsoid I wouldn't say any of them are positive. The line needs to be exactly as dark as, or ideally darker than the control line.

Maybe buy a clearblue one with the smiley face to see what is going on?

@JustLikeTheySaid thanks...I think you're right. Sometimes some extra line eyes really do help! I asked DP to check and he swore they were positive.

My temperature is high enough be concurrent with my ovulation phase...maybe it's just coming up in the next few days!

It's so annoying isn't it. I hope they turn super dark for you in the next few days x

@Kelsoid maybe you have strong LH levels and you'll get a really dark line right before ovulation! My cb opk was darker than the ic opks when I got my peak so I'm not fully trusting them.

I had such sore left ovary pain this afternoon it almost stopped me on my feet. Thankfully has eased off. Hopefully released a big juicy egg 🥚

@Kelsoid I hope you get some answers soon! Must be frustrating to not know. Those IC OPKs can be so much hassle. I do wonder if forking out for digitals can be worth it to save on stress!

@NoseringGirl that's definitely what I'm thinking! I'm currently in the states and those digital ones are INSANELY expensive here...so it might just have to wait until I get back to the UK. I know they're still not cheap but anything's gotta be better than reading these bloody stupid lines.

Out of interest, does anyone else here use the app Natural Cycles? I started using it last year as a natural form of contraception. I cancelled it three months ago when we started TTC, but I've restarted it again in the hope that it'll help me conceive if SMEP doesn't work out this cycle. Be curious if anyone else here uses it for tracking their BBT!

@Angelmiracle here's hoping...I'll continue with the OPK right up until around CD20 I reckon...keep them all and compare lines :) hopefully I'll get an actual positive around CD16/17, as per usual.

Hello, a lovely lady just recommended this thread and told me about SMEP, which we are going to try next cycle. I have been using clear blue but can anyone recommend a better OPK? Sending lots of orange fertile luck to everyone trying.
