[... Insert jazzier title here!]

The bus is still running, we're sick of bastard bfns, and crossing fingers (and some) for Feb 2019 babies. Come join!

I'm 35 yo
DD is 3yo
Cycle 25 (urgh!!)
Af/bfp due 18th June

After a few months charting and opk-ing, I've decided to chuck it all out and try and dtd every other day. Eek. Only two more cycles until we start ivf in August so crossing fingers we can get a natural bfp before then. Here's hoping!

Oh no @mayago poor you!

How's everyone doing?

I could be anywhere between 9-13 dpo, no signs of af yet but no hints of any lines. Pretty ready for ivf next week so I'm not feeling too down that it didn't happen this month, think that would have been too good to be true!

Sorry @hisashiburi, fingers crossed for a luckier September!

Sorry for the BFNs 💐. Sorry I haven't been on for a bit, got a new phone and couldn't work out how to use it 😂
5dpo for me. Used pre-seed this cycle, so hoping it's helped 🤞
Absolutely no symptoms this cycle, compared to the last one. So no idea whether this will be the one. Really hoping so. I would probably break down crying if I got my bfp after all these months! X

Hisashiburi · 13/08/2018 10:46

Wow. So I was a couple of days late (I'm usually 26 days like clockwork), had been feeling a bit off so I took a test and got a BFP.
Very, very early days though x

Hey, is this a closed thread? Would anyone mind if I joined?

(DC1 born in 2016, been TTC for over ten months for number two. Looking for a safe space to rant and find kindred spirits).

CatRen27 · 13/08/2018 12:16

Hi @lavender not closed, we just decided to keep chatting past the June expiry! Welcome to the chat. How old is your dc? Hope you're lucky this month

OP posts:
LavenderBear · 13/08/2018 12:20

Thanks @CatRen27! Appreciate the warm welcome ☺️

DC is almost two. Like @LethargicButAwesome, I'm bf'ing, and not entirely sure I'm ovulating all the time. Seems a bit all over the place, and it's all so frustrating.

Wishing everyone on this thread lot of luck!

Hisashiburi · 13/08/2018 12:23

So BFN day AF was due and BFP when AF was 2 days late. I think my line was very faint with DC1 the first week too.

mayago · 13/08/2018 12:42

Congratulations @Hisashiburi !! It really warms my heart when we get a BFP here.

Welcome @LavenderBear and I hope your stay here isn't a long one Smile I'm still breastfeeding as well, but my cycle is pretty clockwork.

I've been to the GP this week, who sort of gave me a funny look, said to keep on trying and they'd look at doing blood tests and sperm analysis if I went back in six months or more. I thought after you're 35 the advice was to see your GP after 6 months with no success. He really made me feel foolish, and I left feeling lower than I had in years.

CatRen27 · 13/08/2018 12:55

Oh my god @mayago that's bloody awful. You're right, 35+ should definitely go in at 6 months and either way he shouldn't have left you feeling like that. Can you see a different gp? Dare I say it a female one? Sending hugs xx

LethargicButAwesome · 13/08/2018 14:21

Welcome @Lavender it's sucks right? The not knowing the hoping....best of luck and hope the bfp is not far away for you. I would say My periods are regular, not quite clock work but then they never have been, I've go from having very heavy flow to very light - when bf anything is considered normal.

@maya are you able to get tests done once you have a baby? Our GP is quite firm with help, they only offer to first time couples, in fact the nhs even rules you out if your partner has children. Ttc dc1 was a long process we went through the referral process and had a lot of doctor appointments was an awful time and drs were so dismisive, on more than one occasion I had a good old cry after visiting the GP. My advice is to just kee trying with the GPS find someone that is sympathetic. Meant to finish af on Wednesday, so back on the ttc process.

mayago · 13/08/2018 14:53

@CatRen27 it took me three days to get this appointment!! I'd been putting it off for a few months, just hoping we'd fall pregnant and wouldn't need to think about going further with anything. I think there is a female GP at my practice, but it's so hard to get an appointment full stop, let alone have any choice over who you see.

We do have a few nurses I can book in with, but never sure where the line is. Plus one of them I've had quite a bad experience with late in my pregnancy...

@LethargicButAwesome I have no idea. I know thinks like funded IVF, etc are out, but I would think they would offer the most basic of tests or a bit of support at least. I had questions about supplements whilst breastfeeding, and he advised to take folic acid only, so I suppose he did do some 'doctoring' in the visit at least!

Pudding01 · 13/08/2018 17:11

Congratulations on your BFP 🙂

sodababy2 · 13/08/2018 20:05

Congratulations @Hisashiburi! Lovely news!

@mayago I went to the GP too. I'm 35 and actually said to them that the NHS recommend going to get tests after 6 months when you're 35+. GP made me feel stupid and said to come back a year after my m/c! I cried and begged them to run some blood tests and they did 'because I was stressed'. But you're right, there's not much they'll do anyway on NHS when you've already got one child. I had LH and FSH blood tests and DH got a sperm analysis (went to his GP and lied about how long we'd been TTC). My blood tests were fairly borderline (GP predictably said they were fine) so I paid for an antral follicle count and internal scan as well as thyroid blood tests at private clinic. Came back as quite a low ovarian reserve which is when I decided not to wait around much longer and press ahead with IVF. Don't be fobbed off by the GP. Go in again and request those blood tests and get your OH to get tested too. My scan and blood tests were less than £200 privately so really doesn't cost the earth if you wanted to go down that route too. Good luck! Smile

CatRen27 · 13/08/2018 23:12

@mayago that's such a nightmare i can't get over how hard it can be to get a gp appointment in the uk. It used to take me weeks sometimes in London. I went in (to London gp, before we moved) after a year of trying for #2 and they only offered the hormone blood tests for me and dh did a sperm analysis. Told us nothing. Beyond that i was told i was on my own and to go private. Cheers mate.. i wish i had have paid for a scan straight away. But I sorted it all out privately when i got to Australia - scan, more bloods etc and they found all sorts. Still didn't get me pregnant but the polyp needed removing even with ivf. If you can, pay for the private tests. Terrible that gps don't take this as seriously and sensitively as they should.

Meanwhile my body is playing silly buggers. Af was due at very latest today but it's nowhere to be seen. Sorry for tmi but cervix is well and truly closed when at this point it's usually opening a day or so before af arrive. I only poas once today, so i might try again later. Obviously its staying away when I'm actually wanting it to come so i can get this ivf business started! Ffs!

OP posts:
Hisashiburi · 14/08/2018 10:25

Thank you all for your kind words. I'm really crossing my fingers for you all over the coming weeks. Thank you for all of your support.
Catren-fingers crossed AF stays away for you xx

Mammyofasuperbaby · 14/08/2018 13:16

Finally got a GPS appointment for the 23rd so I'll see what happen then. I'm currently 9 days late with lots of bfn tests and lots of pregnancy dreams which are killing me. Dp is trying to stay positive but it's getting harder to believe him.
Massive congrats @Hisashiburi

LethargicButAwesome · 14/08/2018 22:30

@catren and @mammy, my sister had a load of bfn too...it was only until she had her blood tests 2 weeks after period was due that it came up as her being pregnant so it's not over till she arrives! Fx'd for you ......

Hishash kee us posted, how far along are you according to you?

LethargicButAwesome · 14/08/2018 22:31

Also @sodababy what clinic did ou go to that sounds very reasonable ?

CatRen27 · 15/08/2018 02:08

Wow @mammy 9 days late? I really hope it's a good sign!

I'm officially a day late, and coming up with the biggest fattest bfns, and definitely dont feel upduffed so I'm pretty sure its just my body messing with me. I've got a gp appointment tomorrow so might mention it although not sure i can handle the shame of him officially confirming its a bfn! I'll see how i go today.

OP posts:
Mammyofasuperbaby · 15/08/2018 07:11

I have everything crossed for you @CatRen27.
@Lathargic and CatRen27, it's not unusual for me to be massively late (sometimes months) so I'm really not expecting to be pregnant.
All opks and hpt have been negative for months now apart from one nearly positive opk a few months ago.
If I was pregnant I could be anywhere between 2 weeks to 11weeks as my last af was short and light but a definite bleed not spoting
