Hi Ladies.

Anyone else on their first cycle and TTCing?! I'm seeing all these beautiful posts about ladies getting pregnant and how they have bonded with people on here soooo, thought I'd make one at the start on my journey!

@CookieWaffle you speak my mind!
Moon cup - love it and will never go back (@RanchoRelaxo, snip the end shorter and persevere -it's quiet it!)
OPKs - never got a positive but do it anyway (though I may give up eventually)
Charting (temping in particular) - love it and a little bit obsessed.

Sorry you have such a crap GP. I hate the postcode lottery. Why can't we all have doctors like @Saraelle?

ChaosMoon · 20/06/2018 08:52

Oh and I've just ditched pregnacare for plain old folic acid. I used pregnacare last month and I had spotting, cramping, nausea, and sore breasts from O until 9 days after. None of which is normal. So I felt crap and got my hopes up, all for nothing. I lost the pack and immediately felt fine. Maybe it's just my body, but they didn't work for me. Now I'm just taking folic acid. I think I get everything else I need from my diet.

CookieWaffle · 20/06/2018 09:08

@ChaosMoon yes!! xx

I looked into pregnacare and was a bit wary about that happening to me so never tried. Giving this folic acid stuff a go.

Delilah7 · 20/06/2018 09:19

@CookieWaffle @ChaosMoon I'm with you ladies too. I'm gonna start taking it. Where did you get yours from? Xx

EllaR1 · 20/06/2018 09:28

I first started taking folic acid and it made me so ill so switched to preganacare and im fine now. I soppose everyones different.

ChaosMoon · 20/06/2018 10:06

You're so right @EllaR1.

I got mine from Boots @Delilah7. I'm on the contact lens scheme, so they're a bit cheaper.

RanchoRelaxo · 20/06/2018 12:55

Thanks @CookieWaffle and @ChaosMoon will continue to try it Smile have cut some of the stick off am just worried that it will go somewhere and get lost! Am finding it tricky to get it out again.
Finally got the positive opk this morning! Hooray!

MrsSquidler · 20/06/2018 13:13

Excellent news @RanchoRelaxo DTD tonight then 😏
I'm also on Folic Acid, and I got mine from morrisons, nothing fancy they're just straight up folic acid 400s one a day.
So I was wondering about folic acid, most places say to start taking it one month before TTC and one or two months after conception... however, what if it takes a while to conceive and you're taking FA for a while... can you OD on it? Will it have any adverse effects to think about?? (Maybe I just worry too much!?!) 🙈

CookieWaffle · 20/06/2018 14:13

That's a nice looking stick @RanchoRelaxo! Now go BD! xx

From what I've read you'd have to be guzzling down alot of folic acid in one go to OD on it. One tablet a day sounds fine. Seems it treats all sorts of things too. I'm sure it's fine xx

EllaR1 · 20/06/2018 14:15

@MrsSquidler iv been taking pregancare (which also has folic acid in) for nearly a year now. They say to start taking them as soon as you ttc and for the first trimester when your pregnant. Iv decided to stop taking anything because like you said you could be taking them forever! They can be pricey aswell so im going to lay off them for a while and see if theres any difference. I recommend you keep taking them though and I dont think it will have any adverse effect on you if you have been taken them for a while. I just found pure folic acid was too much for me so had to have a less dose with other vitamins with it. Hope that helps Smile

MrsA89 · 20/06/2018 16:09

@cookiewaffle @EllaR1 thanks ladies. Would have been shocked to fall on the first month of trying.

I don’t think I could use a moon cup at work Confused but worth considering! I’ve been taking seven seas folic acid (when I remember). Planning on ordering OPKs from amazon and some more tests. Is it worth getting the clear blue or just the cheap test strips?

PixieLoo · 20/06/2018 16:38

Hi ladies, sorry I've been slow to update been very busy with my DP parents visiting, I've had lots of symptoms in my TWW, sore boobs, headaches, nausea & fatigue, AF is due today but hasn't shown up yet. I've taken several cheapie tests that have all come back negative so I'm not getting my hopes up. Hope everyone else is okay and sending baby dust to you all 💜

CookieWaffle · 20/06/2018 16:44

@MrsA89 the glory of the moon cup is at least for a regular day I pop it in in the morning and take it out in the evening when I get home. I can totally get how some people can't get used to it though! It's certainly weird at first.

@PixieLoo thanks for checking in, positive signs so far, will keep fingers crossed for AF to stay away! xx

CookieWaffle · 20/06/2018 16:47

Oh and for the OPKs, I'm no expert. I just tried some cheapy stick ones that look like Rancho's above. Was a pack of 30 on amazon or something.

ChaosMoon · 20/06/2018 17:01

That's great news @RanchoRelaxo! Sending baby dust for tonight. Smile

@MrsA89 I've tried both and never got a positive. Sorry I know that's not helpful!
You only have to empty a moon cup a couple of times a day so you shouldn't have to worry at work.

RanchoRelaxo · 20/06/2018 17:29

The opks I use are just the cheap ones from Amazon, you can get like 50 for around £8.
I take folic acid and vitamin D daily, they are just the basic ones from Morrison's, figure they all contain the same stuff Smile

EllaR1 · 20/06/2018 17:58

@MrsA89 I think cheap tests are the best as you never get a fake positive.

Oooh @PixieLoo fingers crossed for you! I hope its the signs your after.

Im 2 days late but still have weird spotting. I think its just going to be a reeeeeally long cycle.

ChaosMoon · 20/06/2018 22:25

Oh wow, a lot of this had not come through when I updated earlier. How weird.

Sorry you feel rubbish @PixieLoo but crossing my fingers for you.

ChaosMoon · 20/06/2018 22:26

And you @EllaR1!
(Why do I keep missing things)

CookieWaffle · 21/06/2018 04:51

So I just woke up this morning feeling really sick. The doc I saw on Tues, I mentioned I was stressed and worried that stress would cause problems conceiving. She put me on some tablets for anxiety and said it was safe to take. Just did a Google to find out why I feel so sick. According to the NHS site they are unsafe to take if you're pregnant or trying. So now I will be marching back to the docs this morning and demanding to see someone else... Joy.

Aims4 · 21/06/2018 08:03

CookieWaffle I don’t like the sound of your dr I would see someone else and get a second opinion!!
I’m 7dpo and trying hard not to symptom spot.. need to stop looking online! hubby told me yesterday that his cousin is pg (she got married few weeks before us) felt so upset last night and really jealous which I hate feeling! Feeling bit pessimistic about it all this month x

lolacola13 · 21/06/2018 08:15

@CookieWaffle was it propranolol? I was on these but when I did fall preg they said immediately come off them as they aren't safe when preg so I presumed also not safe when ttc . I sadly miscarried but won't be taking them again whilst ttc xxx

MrsSquidler · 21/06/2018 08:30

@Aims4 I'm 8dpo and also trying not to symptom spot, it's so hard though!
I'm sorry you're feeling this way, I can imagine how you're feeling though as my friend is also pregnant, she told me about a month ago, she's baby #3 and all I can think is how come it's easy for others and not me?! But you never know how long they've been trying. Just try staying optimistic and I'm sure it will happen soon.🤗

Delilah7 · 21/06/2018 09:46

@MrsSquidler I'm the same I'm either 7/8dpo bit unsure this cycle. I feel weird been abit crampy etc! Xx

OP posts:
MrsSquidler · 21/06/2018 09:52

@Delilah7 yeah I had cramps two days ago. Sensitive boobs today... Hoping it's a good sign. Let's keep our fingers crossed for all of us 🤞🏻
