Thread 6... 😑

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

NEW RULE ALERT!

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Sorry about FP @bubble and wasted ££!

So we’ve decided to go ahead with the ivf, even though I’m job hunting and I’m not sure what could happen there. But I’m still waiting for copies of my nhs test results so we’re going to have to postpone a cycle. Just when I was getting myself in the right head space! V annoying. So I guess I’ve got another month of trying- am sooooooo beyond any hope of it working but hoping I ov before OH away next week so I can spend the tww symptom spotting 🤦‍♀️

Paranormalbouquet · 16/04/2018 17:10

I’ve had a bizarrely quiet afternoon in work. Which is nice!

@Bubblegum89 sorry about FP and wasted month. Although you were right about it bringing it on. Maybe I should buy one too!

@LexieJean when do you expect to start IVF?

Paranormalbouquet · 16/04/2018 17:11

Wasted money, not month. Although I can see why I made that mistake.

Miserablemouse · 16/04/2018 17:51

Para I agree, if it helps with stress and nothing else then it can still only be a good thing. Thanks for the info too - I think they checked thyroid function in my last set (GP was very vague about things being "normal" except the day "21" progesterone so I don't actually have any specifics) but I'm sure they'll do it all again. How annoying about FP being late while you're waiting for tests - I hope it turns up soon (definitely feels weird to say that!).

Silver hope the scratch goes well and isn't painful.

Bubble that's shit, I'm sorry. Will you go back on contraception while you wait to get onto IVF or will you carry on without but not "actively trying"? (if that's even possible because even if you delete/bin everything it's still there in your head isn't it)

Lexie hopefully it might happen naturally before then but if not I hope it feels positive to be making plans for IVF and getting things in order

Bubblegum89 · 16/04/2018 18:36

Thanks ladies. Feeling a bit crappy but I expected that. I didn’t put the mooncup back in and I’ve had no spotting or anything since. Even after going for a wee. So annoying, if it’s going to start I wish it just would. I’m guessing it won’t today. But if there’s brown blood up there, it should be here tomorrow, right?

miserablemouse I’m not going to go on any contraception over the summer. Only because my body does NOT respond well to fake hormones lol I turn into a right bitch and I always feel nauseous. I’m just not going to use opks, have any timed sex etc. I wasted my entire summer last year stressing about ttc and I don’t want to do that again. We have a holiday booked and I want to just enjoy that, some sunshine and pool cocktails should take my mind off it a little! Then we’re looking into IVF in the autumn.

Lexie have you chosen where you might be doing your IVF? I’ve already had a look, I’m thinking abc fertility in London. Apparently going abroad works out cheaper and has higher success rates. There’s so many options, I didn’t realise.

paranormal despite me hating periods and really not actually wanting them, I have to say the mooncup is the best thing. Especially for when my periods were rubbish, I was able to see just how much blood I was losing. I know you said you had lighter periods so if you’re not squeamish, I highly recommend one :)

I’m off to get a chippy tea because today has been frustrating and so my “eating only fresh and healthy food” has gone out of the window

Mouse - enjoy the acupuncture! Love mine, got it homeowners which I'm so pleased about because work proper stress me out today.

Si1ver, good luck with the scratch! Can't believe you tested at 6dpo though...!!

Bubble, I had everything crossed for you, gutted your fp seems to have started.

Lexie, fx for a timely ov!

I'm 8dpo today. Watery cm today, felt a bit 'wet' but I learnt my lesson last cycle; no more hoping and googling because I can't stand it. Had day "21" bloods last week so I will book an appointment and go from there. sigh

Got a big Wine because I need it and I know I'm not preggers so why go without?!

Bubblegum89 · 16/04/2018 18:44

Sooz thank you. I went for a nap to make myself feel a little better, came downstairs after and the second I stepped into the living room that bloody Clearblue digital advert came on 😒 I’ll keep my fingers crossed that this cycle is the one for you. What tests do you need doing now?

Forgot to say good luck for your scratch si1ver :)

OP posts:
SoozC · 16/04/2018 18:49

Oh that advert, Bubble, that sucks. I'm going to push for everything they can give me because I'm "too old" for IVF on the NHS in my area, so they can jolly well pay for me to have some tests. Starting from the beginning though so got to go through blood test first.

Miserablemouse · 16/04/2018 19:21

Urgh that advert. All the weeps. Although the one where the man “proposes” having a baby to his partner with a bloody OPK gives me all the rage!

Thanks Sooz, hope acupuncture tonight helps chill you out and enjoy that well earned chippy tea Bubble!

Si1ver · 16/04/2018 19:23

@LexieJean that's exciting, but sad at the same time. What's taking so long with copies of your tests? I called my surgery and picked mine up the next day.

I've had my scratch. It was not pleasant.

Si1ver · 16/04/2018 19:25

Oh and @SoozC, technically I had to test before the procedure. No idea why as it couldn't show anything.

Bubblegum89 · 16/04/2018 19:40

Sooz yeah definitely get what you can. I’m not entitled to IVF funding either so I got all the tests done I could on the NHS.

OH asked me before if my period had shown up (before I found the brown blood that was hiding up in my stupid cervix) so I said no and the smile on his face... ugh. I just said “don’t bother smiling, it’ll be here it’s just late for some reason.” Why is ttc so rubbish? :(

OP posts:
LexieJean · 16/04/2018 19:52

Thanks @miserable 🤞

@para next cycle will be June so technically 2 fw til then. Not that I’m holding out much hope. Maybe my OH and I just don’t do sex correctly!

Thanks @sooz 😊

@bubble we’re going with abc. We might need ICSI which they seem to do automatically elsewhere in Europe. Depends on these blasted tests as OH SA had low morphology first time. But I’d like to do it without if we can so there’s a bit of natural selection in there and the strongest swimmer does the fertilising. @si1ver my GP didn’t have my results from the hospital where the fertility clinic was, maybe because I went out of borough? I asked for them to request them and they said it would be faster for me to do it. But I’ve had to go through medical records and it’s 21-40 days!!!

QuietTime · 16/04/2018 20:13

Ugh bubblegum was really hoping this was the month for you - hope FP shows up properly if it's coming, what an arse. Sending you a big hug; enjoy your tea xx

Bubblegum89 · 16/04/2018 20:31

Lexie oh you’ll have to let me know how it goes with them! We are leaning more towards them due to the package they offer (even though we live nowhere near London!) I’ve heard very good things about them too. When are you planning on starting the process?

Thank you QuietTime my tea was lovely! I genuinely thought this was my month. It doesn’t help that other than that little bit of brown spotting earlier that nothing else is happening. If I’m not pregnant, why won’t the damn thing just hurry up and show its ugly face?!

OP posts:
Paranormalbouquet · 16/04/2018 20:45

Good luck with the last months trying properly Lexi and Bubblegum. LeciI’ve thought about a mooncup, how messy are they? (thinking of communal bathrooms at work etc!). I’ve actually had more bleeding from miscarriages than periods since last summer sadly, and can only use pads for that.

The clear blue ads just give me the rage. Backwards chest x-rays (why a chest x-Ray!) and pretending to be as accurate as an ultrasound!

Sooz hope you get your investigations quickly.

Owlpatrol · 16/04/2018 21:10

@Bubblegum89 argh sounds frustrating hopefully more answers tomorrow in the knicker department.

I've had a frustrating day, workloads, boss ttcing basically everything I'm exhausted! Blood test tomorrow yaay! My boss has guessed we are ttcing she's very abrupt and nosy so anyway that was good not!

Paranormalbouquet · 16/04/2018 21:13

Sorry I pressed post too soon! @Lexi I didn't know they usually went straight to ICSI on continent- is that more successful or a way of increasing profits I wonder?

I've had a strange day- family death (not unexpected, need to fly for funeral later this week though). School offers in also- simultaneously delighted that DD got into our first choice school (which is literally next door) and desperately sad that she will be starting school still without a sibling.

starwishing · 16/04/2018 21:19

@Paranormalbouquet I've been using mooncups and csp's for years and there's no mess at all. I change mine at school and in public. What I do though is take a bottle/cup of water into the stall with me to rinse it out quick and put it back (it's a bit chilly though😆). They're so much better for you and if you forget them overnight... so what! You can't get TSS from them or any sort of grim effects. Plus with moon cups and csp's that horrific chemical smell is gone.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 16/04/2018 21:21

Well I take back what I said about my new diet and lack of spots! I have backne and one on my chin. My skin feels oily too. Yuck.

@Bubblegum89. I'm sorry that your body is being a dick.

@LexieJean. Can they do IVF without ICSI for poor morphology? We were told if we have to have IVF then we would need that.

@Si1ver. I hope you are feeling ok x x

Bubblegum89 · 16/04/2018 21:22

Right, I’ve had my pity party and I’ve decided to be positive. So fp isn’t here yet. I’m not pregnant. Whatever. I can’t do anything about it now. Have any of you watched This Time Next Year? Well, this time next year, I WILL be pregnant. Failing at this is kind of making me more determined to prove myself wrong. Okay so there you have it, by next April I will be preggo. You heard it here first...

Paranormal not messy at all really. If you don’t have a crazy heavy period then it wouldn’t be anyway. On my heaviest day, I can fill about 1/3 of the cup. There’s a knack to getting it in/out but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy. When my periods were much lighter, I found tampons horribly uncomfortable because they were dry and I could feel them when they were in, and they were a nightmare to remove. When I have the mooncup in (properly) I don’t even notice it’s there. Plus you can sleep with it in and you don’t have to change it as much as you change a tampon.

OP posts:
MynameisJune · 16/04/2018 21:34

@bubble sorry fp is messing you around. If it’s coming I hope it turns up soon.

@lexi hope you get your results ASAP so you can start. Nothing worse than making the decision then having to delay things.

@paranormal hope fp shows up soon and I’m glad your DD got her first choice school. Sorry for the family loss.

@si1ver glad the scratch went okay. They really need a new name for it. Even the name makes me cringe in pain.

As for me, I’m quite enjoying have a month off and not thinking of TTC at all. DS is poorly, my sleep is shit and work is manic so once less thing to take up brain space is good.

Paranormalbouquet · 16/04/2018 21:40

Thanks @MynameisJune. Sorry your DS is poorly, hope he improves quickly.

@si1ver scratch is a bad name. Hopefully it works for you.

My DD is sleeping badly, she's anxious that we will disappear overnight. So she wakes up to check we are there and then kicks me all night. Probably the reason for my temps still being high- I think I'm getting so little sleep that they are inaccurate?

starwishing · 16/04/2018 22:05

@Paranormalbouquet my DS is the same at the moment. He's convinced I'm having a baby and won't love him anymore because I'll only love his brother.

In reality my SIL has just had a baby, I've just had surgery so he can't touch my tummy and he's probably heard things from school.

LexieJean · 16/04/2018 23:09

Will do @bubble We were due to go on Friday to have the consultation before the drugs start but have pushed it back about a month for next cycle.

Thanks @para And defo try a mooncup, once you get the hang of it I find it much more comfortable.
I think it’s just a different way of doing it always with icsi. I’m not sure if the results are that much better. It wasn’t an option for us to go abroad with time off work but who knows further down the line (depressing thought!).

@looking that’s why we have to wait for our test results: OH had low morphology on first test (which was before last summer) then in January he did it again and it was normal. He didn’t really change anything except multi-vitamins so I wasn’t convinced and really questioned the doctor! But you’re right- if it turns out the morphology is low then we have to have icsi too. I just wanted the option to not if his swimmers were good enough. Plus it’s extra ££££.

Thanks @june Hope you’re enjoying a month off!
