Thread five!

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

Snap @bubble - am today feeling like it’s never going to happen. 18 months in and no medical reason. I don’t know what we do if that’s really the case. I just want to be a mum.

Yammers I dont do valentines either so yoga for me but I wish you all a wonderfully romantic evening if that’s what you do! ❣

SoozC · 14/02/2018 16:48

Bubble, we got our one and only bfp on cycle 20, but I know that doesn't help you much. I'm living with the "you're more fertile after a miscarriage" thing but in 3 months it hasn't happened. I feel like I'm always the exception to the rule. Sending you big hugs xx

Limp, do what you need to tonight, put yourself first. If it's a sticky one then 1 glass isn't going to hurt. xx

We don't do Valentine's either. Sending you all loads of love today, but that's no different from any other day!

Bubblegum89 · 14/02/2018 16:52

Limp go for it. One glass won’t hurt either way. Hugs to you ❤️

Lexie it’s silly to say but I would rather have something wrong. I feel totally helpless knowing there’s nothing and so I can’t actively do anything to get it fixed. It’s just frustrating isn’t it?

Thanks Sooz I’m sorry to hear about your baby bomb today btw. That’s shitty. Scan pics are bad enough but an actual baby... ugh. How are things going with you, still getting any odd symptoms?

DoAsDreamersDo · 14/02/2018 16:59

We don't do Valentines either. We're both off to the gym, but I'm tempted to just sack it off and go eat chocolate instead (even though I've given it up for lent)

Si1ver · 14/02/2018 18:11

I'm sorry there so much awful on here for everyone. I'm sorry for all the EDDs too.

Limp have the glass of wine, it's not going to hurt anything.

I have a test based question for you Yammers. The IVF clinic has told me what results I need to move forwards. I've checked my blood results and I'm missing E2 and AMD. I know AMD can be done at any point, but I'm finding results for both 3 and 21 days on line. When should the E2 be done?

Let's not get into why my doctor didn't do these, which both seems fairly key.

LexieJean · 14/02/2018 19:58

What’s E2? @si1ver pretty sure I haven’t had that done.
Am regretting not asking for copies of all my test results when at FC. Can I get my GP to ask for them?

Si1ver · 14/02/2018 21:06

It's for estradiol levels apparently and is a common test, up there with FISH and LH. I've never heard of it.

Yes, just ask your doctor for a copy. I was told my copy would cost me a tenner but there was no charge.

Si1ver · 14/02/2018 21:14

Ahahahaha

FSH not fish. FFS.

WonkyDonk87 · 14/02/2018 21:19

Doctor, doctor, there's a fish in my ** nope too rude! blood work Wink

Si1ver · 14/02/2018 21:25

I never drink blood, fish in it..... No that's not Oscar Wilde

SoozC · 14/02/2018 21:38

Hey, Bubble, pretty symptom-free today, apart from quite gassy. Have had plenty of twinges and full feelings and less appetite over the past few days though. I'd like to say my left boob is more veiny, but I still have pregnancy boobs a little and my right boob had been veiny ever since before my bfp! So not reliable.

I am in limbo but af will hopefully arrive on Saturday so I can start on the next cycle. I'm almost (but not quite!) wishing the cycles away as we've basically decided (well, I've decided and DH is fine with it!) to try until April (6 months post-mc) and then apply for adoption! I feel better having that as a focus now, with any luck in a year or so we could have two kids!!

Bubblegum89 · 14/02/2018 21:45

sooz looks like we’re af buddies, mine is due Saturday too. I’ve had no tww symptoms this month. Apart from weird twingey cramps that started today. I don’t even know why I thought twice about it as we actively DIDN’T dtd in my fertile week this month because I was having my HyCoSy. Why do we do this to ourselves?? I know for sure my af is going to show up on Saturday but I’ll keep my fingers crossed that yours doesn’t!

Highwater · 14/02/2018 21:49

Hi everyone, I'm going to book my 12 month appointment with my GP shortly, can you give me some advice on what tests I should be asking for except for the day 3/21 bloods? I know they will try and fob me off so I want to go prepared!

WonkyDonk87 · 14/02/2018 22:13

Sooz and Bubble can I (tentatively) join and be an AF buddy too? Had ewcm on the 1st, sensitive nipples on the 2nd and yesterday and today started a pathetic bit of brown spotting. Surely I must be deserving of AF by now? Saturday will be cd80

Highwater sorry I can't help - I get fobbed off every time and just shuffle out muttering "thanks" then cry in the car like a knob

Bubblegum89 · 14/02/2018 22:21

Course wonkydonk join away haha hopefully she won’t show up through ;)

highwater you will need the 21 day bloods done first then ask about your OH doing a semen sample. Once they’ve been done (if they’re all normal) they’ll refer you to a fertility clinic who will take over with more blood tests and scans etc. If there is anything you are particularly concerned about, make sure you mention it to your dr. They will follow the basic “script” usually but will take things you suggest into consideration :)

SoozC · 14/02/2018 22:22

Definitely welcome to join, Wonky, hopefully the cycle will end for you one way or another at the weekend! x

WonkyDonk87 · 14/02/2018 22:27

Thanks, pretty sure this is the start of it as what I've got going on looks nothing like the IB pics on google. Cycle this long and I'm still symptom spotting 🙄

Did most people get referred to a fertility clinic after 12 months then? I've got to wait until I reach two years.

Bubblegum89 · 14/02/2018 22:39

Why do you have to wait until it’s been two years? I was referred after all my blood tests from the doctor came back normal. In my area you are referred after 12 months and if no issues are found, you have to continue ttc naturally until it’s been two years before they will refer you for NHS funded IVF. I don’t qualify for that though, but if you are o think that’s the general rule but it’s different in different parts of the country. Which I think is wrong but there you go!

MynameisJune · 14/02/2018 22:42

@wonky one Dr tried to fob me off with two years so I went and saw a different GP. A women this time and she took our TTC history and asked for the test straight away. We got a bfp before we got our referral so we are pushing that in April along with going private for tests too.

Have a read of the NICE guidelines, I’m sure it’s in there that it’s a year of TTC before 35 and 6 months over 35. The amount of testing/help you’ll get depends on area and if you already have children or step children etc.

WonkyDonk87 · 14/02/2018 22:43

Our local CCG guidelines say two years unless there is a known cause of infertility eg.PCOS. I tried to suggest my wonky cycle was evidence of infertility in of itself but no joy from the GP and a cry in the car for me 😒

RhiBee29 · 15/02/2018 06:41

@SoozC @Bubblegum89 @WonkyDonk87 af is due on Saturday for me too, can I buddy up?

Pibbee · 15/02/2018 07:15

I am over 35. (Eeeek). In my area, they do the initial tests, at your GP, after 6 months. Can’t get a referral to fertility clinic without day 3, day 21 and pelvic scan for females, and SA for males, without having those tests done via GP first. The whole testing process took a couple of months due to having to time for certain cycle days etc. I had my first appointment at the fertility clinic end of Jan and my next appointment with the consultant is mid-April. During that time I have to have a couple more tests via the hospital. I don’t think it has been that bad in terms of timing and waiting times.

I think the guidance for IVF for unexplained is 2 years ttc but my consultant said they can take a view on that and go for ivf at less than 2 years. The upper age limit for IVF in my area is 43.

Highwater · 15/02/2018 07:51

I recently found out that my CCG has ceased all IVF funding which I had a little cry about so my only option will be going private but I'd like to get the tests done on the NHS if at all possible....

SoozC · 15/02/2018 09:24

Blimey, it's like when women live together and their cycles apparently line up! Anyone else? Come join us, Rhi, we can all commiserate together on Saturday x

Hi All, I've popped on here at work to catch up as I've still no internet at home and have managed to rinse all my data now as well.

I'm so sorry to read so much bad news and that everyone is feeling down. I really really want there to be some good news coming through on this thread, we're long overdue for it and we've all earnt it haven't we?!

I'm in yet another TWW. In desperation we tried that SMEP thing this month which was gruelling -and won't work-
My husband is going for his SA on Monday so we're a bit nervous about what that will show. I've already had my blood tests so depending on the SA results, we will we back to the drs for further referral.

I'm 38 now though so I'm well into the "too old" zone Sad

I'm currently about 5 or 6 dpo and I feel sick so naturally I'm getting my hopes up and will no doubt have them crushed at the end of the month.

Flowers and Wine to all. x.
