Thread five!

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

Wow.. I don't check this thread for a few days and suddenly lots of reaponses. Haha

@lookingatthestars89 I had strange CM and a burning sensation down there. I just thought I was reacting badly to my husband's sperm. (Stupid I know.)

Anyway I called my doctor in a panic and she has given me antibiotics . . And was like take them when you start your period if you are worried.. and guess what started today. Sad

MynameisJune · 12/03/2018 21:05

@pink sorry for af arriving, hope you feel better soon.

@si1ver that’s exciting that your first (and hopefully only) round of IVF is just around the corner. Keeping everything crossed for you.

CD29 here, still no af. Just want it to show up now after negative tests. My apps have stopped predicting anything now as even they don’t know wtaf is happening.

SoozC · 12/03/2018 21:30

Pink, sorry for af.

I was just thinking earlier that we're approaching 40 pages... Didn't think I'd be here for thread 6 (no offence!). :(

June, sorry it's still mia. I had a cycle in my first year ttc where I was inexplicably 5 days "late" for af. I was so excited. I don't know why I ov'd late (guessing it was that) that cycle. I hope you find out one way or the other soon, and obviously I hope it's the good way x

@LookingAtTheStars89 Haha! A TTC twin not something I ever dreamed of having 😂! I ate a ridiculous amount of chocolate at the weekend to get rid of it all before starting health kick today! As a result I woke up spotty and bloated but feeling ready to start. Fortunately I'm only slightly overweight - it's been creeping up over last few years and everything I've read says losing weight is harder with pcos so it's probably the scare I needed to sort that out before it gets worse.

I've been referred for an HSG scan next, and another procedure involving a camera up my foof which I don't know the name of!

Hi @SoozC , yeah - we were referred for DPs poor SA results ... and I ended up being diagnosed with pcos and endo as soon as the doc did internal sonogram! Bit of a shocker and a lot to get my head around. Feeling more positive than a few days ago by taking action, but our chances of natural bfp must be very very slim. Nice to have some answers though, must be more frustrating for those of you with unexplained issues. X

MynameisJune · 12/03/2018 21:38

Thanks @sooz I’m pretty sure I’m not pregnant just having a random long cycle. Unfortunately this is not the first time my body has decided to throw completely change what it has been doing just to mess with my head a bit more than usual.

SparkwoodAnd21 · 12/03/2018 21:50

Sooz we are cycle twins, I’m about 6/7 dpo and also around cycle 24. Or more, who fucking knows anymore.

Eek good luck si1ver! Scary but exciting.

Sorry for diagnosis

SparkwoodAnd21 · 12/03/2018 21:54

Aaarrrgghh stupid phone. Sorry for diagnosis chook and looking. And for AF Pink.

I have an Ovia question. I’m due AF on the 22nd, which is ten days away. But Ovia is telling me it’s 7 days till pregnancy test. Surely it doesn’t normally tell you to test three days before you are due on? Or have all our apps given up on us too?

SoozC · 12/03/2018 22:10

Spark, just checked my Ovia, says test in 7 days but af not due for 12 days. I think it's basing my af on cycle length for past few cycles (unfortunately post-mc they were longer) but test date on 14 days from peak fertility day. So basically it's talking out its arse.

I will test a week on Sunday if no af by then, not before, as I have no idea when I ov'd.

Bubblegum89 · 12/03/2018 22:39

Sooz are you due af on sat/sun same as me?

WonkyDonk87 · 12/03/2018 23:12

She mentioned she's somewhere between 5-8dpo I think
I'm due Sun x

MynameisJune · 13/03/2018 06:18

Bfn on a first response this morning so definitely sure I’m out this month and it’s just being a long random cycle. I’ve always had a bfp on an FR by this point in my cycle if I’m pregnant.

SoozC · 13/03/2018 07:16

Bubble, if I'm sticking to my usual cycle then yes, around Sunday. But I get the feeling the maca delayed ov by a few days so I don't know when to expect af now.

Cariad2017 · 13/03/2018 07:59

BFN at 11dpo at this end so I’m pretty sure I’m out (back in the days when I could actually conceive (which is now 3 years ago), I always got a BFP and had all the symptoms by this stage in a cycle... Roll on Cycle 20. At this rate, I’m fairly confident that an entire cycle of abstinence would give us exactly the same chance of pregnancy as a cycle of ttc...

Off to the Fertility Clinic on 28 March to get the ball rolling on IVF, but first I’m keen on a proper internal exam to check whether I have any chance of conceiving naturally at all...

We’re also off next week to get the results of DH’s sperm fragmentation test which should help us (i) have an indication of whether the quality of the sperm are likely to cause our prospects of IVF success to nosedive; and (ii) decide whether further tests to try and work out the underlying cause of poor morphology are warranted (as certain causes may well be treatable).

Bubble - Can you remind me what test you had done recently?

WonkyDonk87 · 13/03/2018 09:04

Sorry for the bfns ladies. I'm dreading the weekend tbh.

Has anyone seen the news about homeopathy? Apparently they're pulling the plug on NHS funding for it in London but that it's still being prescribed in Bristol and Glasgow. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ Head. Desk. Slam.

WonkyDonk87 · 13/03/2018 09:07

Sorry - I'm aware that seems a bit irrelevant, just made me think of earlier in the thread when someone said that fertility funding in the Bristol area was pitiful. I get that they have to direct their health services to the population they serve, but homeopathy makes me 😡 (I'd rather hug a tree, probably just as effective)

Bubblegum89 · 13/03/2018 09:11

wonky ah me too :( I’ve already booked in a hair appointment for Friday and messaged someone about getting another tattoo done. All hope for this cycle is kind of gone now.

sooz well hopefully it doesn’t show up at all. How have you been feeling this cycle?

cariad at the fertility clinic, OH had another SA done (came back normal) I had my AMH tested and blood test for rubella and swab for chlamydia. All fine. Then went back for an internal US to check my ovaries and do a follicle count. Then lastly, I had a SIS and HyCoSy to check my uterine cavity and my tubes.

MynameisJune · 13/03/2018 09:22

@bubble you’ve just reminded me that I’ve got my tattoo cover up booked for next month. Not being pregnant at least means I can get that done still.

@wonky is Bristol under North Somerset NHS? It was them and Bath that were cutting funding for IVF is the man has a bmi of over 30. To do that but keep homeopathy is insane to me. If people want to try homeopathic remedies at their own expense to feel like they are doing something to help that’s fine. But to me the NHS should be soundly rooted in medical science. Especially now when funding is so short.

WonkyDonk87 · 13/03/2018 09:49

@MynameisJune hmmmm, not sure about the trusts actually. But my irritation with homeopathy stands. It's not even that there's not enough evidence yet to prove it works (which is what they say about acupuncture etc), it's been proved to be junk science!

Si1ver · 13/03/2018 11:04

@LookingAtTheStars89 I had to send them EVERYTHING.
Height, weight, blood type, family history (for both of us) all my blood results, all my scan results, medical history for both of us, what sort of treatment we were interested in. I can link you to the online questionnaire if you're interested.

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. I'll let you know how we get on.

@WonkyDonk87 it was me that was bemoaning Bristol PCT and yes it falls under BANES. I truthfully feel very let down by the PCT over my TTC problems. I feel that had they investigated properly I would have had a first run at IVF a year ago rather than being told to wait and see for a year. I would still have had to pay for my own, but I'd be 36 going for it rather than nearly 38.

LexieJean · 13/03/2018 12:47

@si1ver I’m going to my first ivf appointment on Friday. I felt so confident booking it and am now bricking it. Do please keep us updated- maybe I’ll see you on another thread? I’ve been trying to find out info but have only managed to freak myself out! 😬

Af finally arrived yesterday as I was in the midst of trying to recover from food poisoning. My body hates me. Oh and a baby bomb via work email as well. SHIT day.

Sorry about the bfns ladies.

@wonky and @june I’m off to find some trees!

Si1ver · 13/03/2018 12:49

@LexieJean good luck lovely. Let me know how you get on. We're going to a foreign clinic so my experience might be a bit different.

SoozC · 13/03/2018 12:52

Bubble, not been feeling much except positivity and most of the time I have the feeling I am preggers. But I know that doesn't mean anything.

Cariad, fingers crossed for all your tests.

Wonky, I find the whole NHS postcode-lottery thing ridiculous. It's one reason I'm not even looking to the NHS for tests etc as we're not eligible for IVF where we are because I'm too old at 36.

OP posts:
LexieJean · 13/03/2018 14:05

Thanks @si1ver you too.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 13/03/2018 15:55

MAJORLY pms'ing today! I have cried and raged over a lost item and I have a giant pimple on my chin! I also have some Fertile looking cm so I don't know what that's all about! I'm peeing like an elephant too - very annoying!

@SoozC. We don't have a ridiculous age cut off like that but instead of the one year wait we have a two year wait!! I think I could lucky with my diagnosis coming earlier because you can visibly see I have a hormonal imbalance (chunky and hairy Grin)

@Si1ver. I'm interested yeah :-) Where is the clinic?

LimpLettice · 13/03/2018 16:19

I think I missed a bfp somewhere - sorry and congrats.

I am feeling like total absolute shit today. Started spotting a little, back to the same old pattern although it does mean cycle has barely blipped from m/c. Plus I have had 3 (not one, not two) RSVPS to my wedding announcing pregnancies, and this week was my due date from first miscarriage. One of the ladies is DPs oldest friend, she had an ectopic and lost a tube 8 weeks, so I am pleased for her, but can't shake my bitterness on them being able to just go oh well and fall again so soon minus a tube. I cannot even sob and rage as DP adores her, and I have a million things to do today, so I don't have time for the luxury of a weep.

If I could get over my own self pity I would be interested in all the IVF talk and asking questions but I am selfish as well as dried up and prune like. We are still waiting to hear from miscarriage clinic and while I don't think we will want to try ivf, its still an idea to pay attention.
