Thread five!

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

@cat congratulations that’s great news

@pink it can take 3 months or more to see changes in sperm quality. That’s what we’ve been told about DH taking his vitamins. So there may well be good changes for your DH but don’t be too disheartened if it isn’t straight away.

No idea what’s going on with my cycle, usually ovulate about CD12. Had some signs around then but no pain. Had EWCM and pains around CD15 or 16 so dtd last night anyway just to try and be sure 🙄

pinkdonkey · 28/02/2018 11:31

June it's been 3 months since DH started treatment for his diabetes which is why Ìm a bit hopeful, although only 1 month since they have consistently been in normal range so possibly still to early. He's also given up smoking and we have both Lost over a stone in weight, but he's still on medications that can cause sperm damage and erectile problems and can't safely stop those so although things may have significantly improved there may still be issues Sad that's why I'm trying not to get so excited.

Pibbee · 28/02/2018 11:53

Congratulations @Cat!!!

Si1ver · 28/02/2018 12:58

Congratulations Cat! I'm so pleased for you

RhiBee29 · 28/02/2018 13:29

Congratulations @Catscakeandchocolate

HidCat · 28/02/2018 14:59

@Catscakeandchocolate just think of it as one hurdle at a time. Getting pregnant is hurdle one and we all know how hard that can be. Are you classed as high risk with the Midwife? At least they'll be monitoring you closely if so. 🤞💐

Bubblegum89 · 28/02/2018 15:01

Dreamers I guess it makes sense to dtd the day after your first positive opk because you don’t ovulate straight away when you see your surge so the day after it is most likely when you will ovulate and then your egg hangs around for 12-24 bours after that

DoAsDreamersDo · 28/02/2018 15:54

Well, AF has got me this afternoon. Not a surprise, but still never nice to see when TTC. Onto cycle 10 and a Christmas baby Wink

Steaksauce · 28/02/2018 16:25

Hi everyone. I keep losing this thread as it moves so quick.

Just finished AF - even trying smep didn't work.
I'm done. I give up. I'm too old. DH is too old. I guess you're not meant to have everything in life. Sad

Good luck everyone I hope you get your bfps soon.

pinkdonkey · 28/02/2018 16:41

Hugs guys.

If it's any inspiration to anyone my friend had her son by IVF after years of trying, then a couple of years later in her 40s had a surprise when she fell pregnant with her daughter naturally, so it can happen.

Catscakeandchocolate · 28/02/2018 17:18

Yes very high risk not only for miscarriage but had a horror at the end of my last pregnancy and almost died. They said to call the moment I ever got pregnant again so called today and they have put me under a consultant already.

MynameisJune · 28/02/2018 17:35

@pink that happened to a woman on my baby group. Her DD was IVF baby, then her second was conceived naturally because they thought they couldn’t have kids.

Bubblegum89 · 28/02/2018 17:57

A woman I know was in the going through surrogacy after being told she would never be able to conceive naturally, and after she had just paid for her surrogate to have her first scan and tests etc and she found out she was pregnant herself. So now she’s having a baby herself and with a surrogate 😳

SoozC · 28/02/2018 22:00

Just going into the last fw to have a baby before DH turns 50. It breaks my heart for him that we've been trying for 2 years and nothing yet. I have hoped every cycle that it would happen for us before he reaches this milestone. Got to keep my fingers crossed that acupuncture and Maca root and baby aspirin are the answer.

Everything crossed for you sooz

Someone on an infertility fb group I’m in kindly reminded me March is the last chance to have a 2018 baby 😑

SoozC · 28/02/2018 22:10

Yeah, that's the next thing! It all feels so cruel, especially when we had those 2 1/2 weeks where we thought it was all happening for us.

I know we'd make good parents. I'm so fucked off with the universe that we're not allowed a child.

I really hope you get there in the end, you deserve it so much Flowers

WonkyDonk87 · 28/02/2018 22:53

Ladies I hope you're using the cold for some bonus bd'ing Wink
(Not me unfortunately, DH would have to fight past three layers of clothes and past my hot water bottle - guess who's boiler has died?)

Bubblegum89 · 28/02/2018 22:58

Oh no wonky worst time to have a broken boiler! I’m in FW so dtd already but my OH asked me today had I done an opk (he’s never asked me before) then I said that we could have a break tomorrow as dtd Friday and Saturday is going to be more important and he was like “let’s do tomorrow as well” and he was actually asking me questions about ovulation etc. After 18 months, I think ttc has finally started to get through to him!

WonkyDonk87 · 28/02/2018 23:02

I'm desperately hoping it's just that the condensate pipe has frozen and not something more technical. DH valiantly went out to pour warm water on it and said he could hear the ice 'cracking' so fingers crossed the heating will kick in at 6.30am - if not it's off to a friends for showers before work!
Very pleased your DH is being actively involved! He'll be reading TCOYF next!

FairyAnn · 01/03/2018 07:27

Oh no Wonky I sympathise! We only got ours working on Monday. Very hard to dtd under 5 layers of clothing!

DoAsDreamersDo · 01/03/2018 09:42

Well there’s no BDing from me whilst AF is here!

I’m also a little sad that I’m very unlikely to have a baby in 2018. The OCD is screaming in my head that I don’t like odd numbers, but I’ve shut it up for the past 10 months so it’ll have to stay quiet for another 12 if required (2020 would be a nice birth year though!)

MynameisJune · 01/03/2018 10:55

DD is a March conception baby, with a December birthday. Last year we skipped March so we didn’t have another December birthday. Oh how naive we were. Will be none of that this year, I don’t care if we had another Dec baby in the slightest now.

SoozC · 01/03/2018 10:56

Thanks, Bubble. For you too x

We have a boiler but the pipes to the bathroom are frozen so no shower or sink upstairs. Still got toilet though, fortunately.

Why am I such a fool, you would think by now I would have learnt not to go to Dr Google for symptom spotting! If I said my hair had turned blue there would be someone out there swearing that the same thing happened to them just before their BPD! Every month I tell myself that there are no such thing as early symptoms and its just PMS and then notice something I don't remember having before and start getting hopeful. Must have had every possible early symptom by now, this month my new one is itchy breasts. Only 6dpo so very unlikely to be anything other than normal monthly hormones at play I know.
