Thread five!

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

catherine1988 · 24/02/2018 07:35

@limplettuce I had my fingers an toes crossed for you, it is so sad, drink the wine and grieve.

Maybe you can get some answers x

LexieJean · 24/02/2018 10:34

That’s horrible for you @limp I’m glad they’ve referred you and were kind to you 💐

@chook that’s not long to wait at all

SparkwoodAnd21 · 24/02/2018 14:51

Limp hugs and more 🍷🍷🍷 for you. Flowers

SparkwoodAnd21 · 24/02/2018 16:18

Uuuugggghhhh. AF. And I just saw that bit of Gavin and Stacy where Ness is having her first scan and all I could think was that I’m never seeing that for myself again. DSis had her 12 week scan yesterday and it’s totally wonderful for them as they’ve been trying for ages but it also makes me feel sad. Selfish and mean, but sad too. 😢

SparkwoodAnd21 · 24/02/2018 16:37

Also accommodation in Amsterdam is bloody expensive.

Highwater · 24/02/2018 17:19

@sparkwood Not sure I've seen your conversation on Amsterdam but try Airbnb for somewhere to stay!

SoozC · 24/02/2018 17:40

I've decided I'm not symptom-spotting this cycle. Hah. I can only say that because I'm in the proliferative stage!

Sorry, I know this is a basic knowledge question for you expert ladies but is it ok to take B6 all cycle long or just after ov?

SparkwoodAnd21 · 24/02/2018 18:45

highwater air b&b is about £200 a night for when we want to go. It’s for a lovely friend’s wedding so I’m definitely going, but we can’t afford for DP and DS to come too. I’ll have another solo friend there so we will be each other’s dates.

Bubblegum89 · 24/02/2018 20:46

I’m so pissed off that OH has a cold sore in time for fertile week. No dtd for me. What a waste.

ronswansonstache · 24/02/2018 21:03

Hi looking afaik it's safe to take for the whole cycle (as long as it is under 200mg) but it helps lengthen the lutuel stage so I've just been taking during the second half of the cycle.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 24/02/2018 21:22

@Bubblegum89. Ugh that sucks. I hate it when something comes up...or doesn't come up Hmm during fertile week. Are you giving him internal evils Angry? Lol. I have never had a cold sore.

@ronswansonstache. Ah thanks. I might take a lower dose during the first bit and then boost it up after OV. I just wanted to make sure. Those vitamins do affect us, I have been taking zinc and magnesium and don't laugh but my last cycle was 26 days - I have NEVER had a what I call normal length cycle before, I wasn't only pissed off when flo showed on Thursday, I was gobsmacked. I also had a good libido throughout the cycle too Blush which had kinda been lacking before.

@SoozC. Ha ha! I tell myself all kinds of crap during those days!

@SparkwoodAnd21. I well up at the clearblue advert where they do the digital test together in the bathroom!

@limplettuce. Flowers Flowers

Hi, I was previously one of these threads with a different username. Just had a check up and been told I may have PCOS based on an ultrasound, get the blood test results back on Monday (possibly).

Hope you are all doing okay, have missed you guys. I just needed a break from Mumsnet and the internet in general for a while, but I realized that you guys were the only thing getting me through this, so I am back!

FairyAnn · 24/02/2018 21:56

Bubblegum Can you not dtd if your partner has a cold sore? I didn't know this, what about if you have one? My OH doesn't get them but I do all the time.

I know they're dangerous for newborns

Chooklass · 25/02/2018 07:16

I love your username @JaggyJobby! 😂

DoAsDreamersDo · 25/02/2018 10:15

I think my body hates me. Not only am I —probably— not pregnant but now I’ve come out in a massive itchy rash all over ny torso. I think it may be related to stress (I don’t even know if that’s a thing but I’m going with it). This feels like the longest TWW so far and I’m so over it already.

pinkdonkey · 25/02/2018 11:17

Hi guys, I was here at the beginning of these threads but haven't been around for a bit. Still TTC, now on month 23 turn 35 next month. Since I was last here I've stopped medication I was on and my cycles appear normal again thank goodness, I've started using opks which I'd resisted because DH was against the idea I love knowing for sure we are hitting the right days, he hates it says it's too much pressure so this month I've not to him the results till after. DH has been diagnosed with diabetes which may have been damaging his sperm for a long time so I'm hoping that having his blood sugar under control will do the trick. DH has had some other medication changes which seem to have increased his drive (which was very low, picture me begging for sex in the fertile window) but not improved erectile difficulties. And we have both LOST over a stone in weight each.

This week I ended up mentioning how long we had been trying to my GP in an unrelated appointment (I've been dreading the conversation as a previous GP was very judgemental due to DHs health problems. This GP was great has said we need fertility tests and to get DB to see his GP about semen testing as a starting point. Just wondering is it normal to book an appointment together to discuss this further or to book seperate appointments. And what happens next?

pinkdonkey · 25/02/2018 11:21

AH typo DHs semen checked not DBs that would be so wrong!

Si1ver · 25/02/2018 12:42

Ahahahaha DB. Grin

Get him to speak to his GP who will refer him for SA testing. We had separate appointments. I've no idea if that's normal.

As I mentioned a couple of pages back, we've decided on privately funded IVF and the only blood tests we were missing were AMH and E2. They both need to be 21 day blood tests. So I went back to my private testing facility who did my HCG tests while I was miscarrying. And they were AWFUL. They only take AMH and E2 Monday to Thursday. The next time that day 21 of my cycle falls on a day they'll take my blood is in six months time. Their response to this was "oh well, you'll need to wait"

Sure because at 37 I have all the time in the fucking world to wait about.

Anyway we did some research and found a company who do the blood tests by mail. I asked my dad about it as he was a surgeon and he seemed to think that this would be fine as we don't want to interpret the numbers ourselves, we just want to send them to our clinic.

So I've just taken my own blood and I have it packaged up ready to go in the post. It feels super weird.

Bubblegum89 · 25/02/2018 19:58

Cd8 and just noticed ewcm. I’m getting so fed up of this. I never even bother starting opks until cd9 because I don’t start getting any fertile cm until around cd11-12. And I never get ewcm either. Why can’t my body just pick a pattern and bloody stick to it?!

Hopeislost · 25/02/2018 20:33

CD26 here and still no temperature rise. Oh and DH has injured himself at work so there will be no DTD for around 2 months while he recovers. So another 3 months of fuck all.

We are both off to the GP this week to get our test results. I have PCOS so am expecting bad news there but hopefully we'll get a referral.

pinkdonkey · 25/02/2018 20:35

Thanks Si1ver, sorry you are having such a rough time with the testing. I'm feeling a bit nervous now the GP has said we need to go down that route, I have been fooling myself that it's just going to happen on it's own I think. Anyway DH and I have decided to wait out this 2ww in a last bit of hope and then if we don't get our BFP this time he will go see the GP.

Bubblegum, I feel your pain, my cycles were all over the place the 12 months I was on Mirtazapine and it did my head in.

Si1ver · 25/02/2018 21:00

@pinkdonkey I get why you think you'll wait it out. But when you go and you're told it's a two month waiting list to get tested, you might feel frustrated. Go now and cancel if you get a bfp.
