Hi everyone, I’m sorry we are all here on this thread but hoping I could join in. I found out on 18th jan when I was just over 11 weeks that I had had a MMC and baby stopped growing around 7+5, we were obviously devastated and had previously seen a healthy heartbeat at 7 weeks so it was a massive shock. I was meant to get a D&C however ended up miscarrying naturally, 10 days later I have now stopped bleeding and got a negative test so just waiting for AF to turn up. It took us 11 months to conceive after coming off the pill and having long cycles, they had finally started to sort themselves out when I got my BFP so worried the miscarriage will make them all over the place again but will just have to wait and see. Midwife at the EPU suggested I wait a few months however I am eager to try again as soon as I get my first AF xx

peachesarenom · 03/02/2018 16:49

I've given up on waiting for AF just gonna start ovulation tests.

dulwichdays · 03/02/2018 16:56

Hi, I have a a question for everyone. I’ve seen on this and other forums that quite a lot of people have blood tests after miscarriages to test their HCG levels. I was told at the hospital that I wouldn’t get an blood tests and just to take a pregnancy test at 3 weeks. Any one have any ideas why sometimes they do blood tests and sometimes not?

@dulwichdays I think it depends a lot on how far along you were at point of mc, where you are in your TTC journey and whether it happened naturally or with help - mine was a first attempt at TTC, very early, over quickly and very manageable at home; advice from EPU was to ring back if test was still showing positive ten days later (and they'd have run bloods to check), otherwise to carry on TTC again. I believe higher risk pregnancies after recurrent mc's are (rightly!) taken more "seriously" from the start, early scans / tests are offered and a generally keener eye kept on things.

PassTheAfterEights · 03/02/2018 17:07

Welcome and sorry for your losses also @welshsoph @LisaLou88 @Hortonlovesahoo

Good luck @peachesarenom & hope you're feeling OK this weekend @llondbol

Llondbol · 03/02/2018 17:13

It's like you read my mind @PassTheAfterEights xx Physically I've mostly been ok after the D&C Wednesday - just a couple of cramps and no bleeding. But this afternoon I'm having really painful cramps - much worse than period paid. Didn't really get any advice about symptoms to expect after the surgery, so I'm not sure if this is normal?
How are you feeling? X

dulwichdays · 03/02/2018 17:16

@passtheaftereights - thank you. I definitely understand that in terms of early monitoring etc in future pregnancies. I guess I was thinking about monitoring Hcg levels reducing after the pregnancy. I had a silent miscarriage found at the 12 weeks scan on our first time TTC. Had a D&C as management.

PassTheAfterEights · 03/02/2018 17:25

Hmm @dulwichdays seems like more of a case for a follow-up then - guess it's health authority specific but seen many posters more experienced than I recommend a call back if you're unsure that your HCG has dropped back to 0 after a few days & HPT - hope you get some reassurance anyway, sorry for your horrible situ x

@llondbol so sorry you're having another rough day lovely, can't speak from experience but you'll prob get some good advice from other ladies here. I searched "cramps after ERPC" on MN and there seem to be a few threads but please don't suffer on too long. Are EPU's open at the weekend? Mine was very reassuring on the phone - might help you rest easy if you can just speak to them? I'm OK thanks, feeling very normal and unpregnant and trying not to obsess over what cycle will do this month x x

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 03/02/2018 17:47

@dulwichdays I've only ever been offered blood tests with my 2nd mc, and that was after a month and a half afterwards as I was still getting positives after AF and they weren't sure what was up.

With my first, like most people I was told to wait a few weeks and take a test. Generally it should sort itself out fairly quickly after a complete mc and there shouldn't be much interference needed in general.

2nd time round I just got screwed over so badly and had a tiny amount of tissue left, which did pass eventually. But I think I was a rare, super annoying case, which pretty much sums me up in general Grin

peachesarenom · 03/02/2018 18:08

Thank you PassTheAfterEights I'm embracing the crazy again. I've just bought some urine collector things they give you in the hospital, you know the ones where you pee, they're kind of diamond shaped and have a little handle. Disposable. I find it really difficult to poas so they'll help me with my ovulation tests.

Claire138 · 03/02/2018 18:31

Hi @Llondbol sorry for your loss. I had an ERPC in December there, I had bleeding and cramps (very much like a period) for about 8 days with the bleeding being very light in the last few days. I remember feeling OK first couple of days and then on the third day I felt a lot more tender, sorry prob TMI but going to the toilet felt tender. Wasn’t anything sinister just like my muscles knew something had happened down there and then in a couple of days it was gone. I was advised to look out for foul smelling discharge as this can be a sign of infection. Just take it easy these next few days...if your cramping stays bad I would advise going to get a scan...just to be sure!

MrsMac1489 · 03/02/2018 21:10

@dulwichdays

Testing bHGC levels after a miscarriage is to rule out a pregnancy of unknown location. The only reason they wouldn't do blood tests is if you'd had a scan which has confirmed a viable interuterine pregnancy. Only then can they say it was a miscarriage otherwise it's an PUL (ectopic, extrauterine, abdominal, molar...etc).

peachesarenom · 03/02/2018 22:58

dulwichdays I only got the blood hcg because after the three weeks I still had a positive preggo test!

SoozC · 03/02/2018 23:47

Hi guys. I'm just wondering if any of you experience nauaea around ovulation? Particularly after a mc?

Since my mc I've had two 36-day cycles, ov had moved a week later than my cycles before mc. This cycle, I had ewcm cd13 and cd15 (today). This evening I've felt nauseous. I'm just wondering if I'm possibly experiencing ovulation nausea? It would mean my cycles are pretty much back to normal.

Of course, I know none of you can tell me for sure. I guess I'm just interested if ovulation nausea is a thing and if my mc could be the reason I've started to get it.

Glammeup · 04/02/2018 01:12

@peaches don’t want to give false hope but I think all of us are symptoms spotting anyway re the lotion like discharge this was one of my first indicators for a BFp I just knew this was diff to normal discharge
@ everyone new I’m sorry your here but grateful for your support so much of your stories are relateable can’t begin to explain

Glammeup · 04/02/2018 01:14

I’m sorry don’t mean to sound insensitive just meant to support each other

Hortonlovesahoo · 04/02/2018 06:50

@dulwichdays: I’ve not been offered a test. They did a full scan post d&c to confirm removal though so that could be a reason

Mimilicious013 · 04/02/2018 06:51

welcome newbies, sorry you are here but these ladies are amazing

Mimilicious013 · 04/02/2018 06:54

@peaches sorry it's taking long but my 1st af after mc was after 6weeks.gl with the opks

Mimilicious013 · 04/02/2018 06:56

having a shitty weekend. 11dpo and struggling with terrible pre-af pain. now just waiting for the witch. honestly I am soooo tired of this endless painful journey

dulwichdays · 04/02/2018 07:37

@Mimilicious013 Sorry your having a shitty weekend - is there anything you can do to take your mind off it? I find a trip to the cinema helps me, allows me to totally zone out and get lost in whatever I’m watching. That or Grey’s Anatomy!! I’ve just started bleeding again after 3 days about. This is my third phase of bleeding since D&C on 24th Jan. Hoping that at some point I’ll get some remblence of a normal cycle back.

@Hortonlovesahoo - thanks. I had a D&C but no follow up scan. I guess each health authority is different!

@SoozC - I have no symptoms of Ovulation except EWCM or at least I didn’t pre-MC. I’m trying to stop myself from symptom spotting otherwise I’ll drive myself crazy......and most likely my DH too!!

Cakelaur · 04/02/2018 08:49

@dulwichdays I haven’t had a scan or a blood test after my erpc. I did finally get a negative test two weeks after the op though. Although a week later and still no sign of Ov. Was hoping my body wouldn’t make me wait so long.
It’s like a constant waiting game. Waiting for +opk waiting for +hpt waiting for AF waiting for bfp waiting for MC waiting for bfn waiting for +opk and then once you get a sticky bean waiting to give birth! 🙈

peachesarenom · 04/02/2018 10:36

MrsMac1489 how are you getting on? Any sign of AF yet?

Glammeup I know! I just want AF so I have a vague idea what part of my cycle I'm in. Just felt properly not pregnant for the first time yesterday. I didn't think you sounded insensitive btw, we're all in the same boat!

Cuddles Mimilicious013 it is a very painful journey. Can I ask how long your normal cycle is? Mine is on average 32 days so maybe it'll take up to 8 weeks for mine.

Just gonna opk to keep myself busy, like I'm doing something useful. Also, gonna have a go at bbt for fun! I will prolly give up a few days in, I just took the shagging approach first time round!

PumpkinPatch000 · 04/02/2018 10:41

Hello All,

Sorry to see you all here, this is a thread I was also hoping i'd never have to join but here I am. I fell pregnant a few weeks ago for the first time but unfortunately on Thursday experienced a miscarriage. It doesn't still feel real. Even being pregnant hadn't sunk in yet so my head is all over the place that at just under 6 weeks we've now had a miscarriage.

I don't really know what to expect. On Thurs and Friday I had very light brown spotting for a couple of hours each day . I had an early pregnancy scan on Friday where they couldn't see anything at all but they thought maybe my dates were out so gave me a blood test. The result came back very low so they said i've had a miscarriage. Yesterday i started heavy bleeding and painful cramps and back pain. Last night the pain continued but the bleeding has gone back to brown spotting. Barely anything there this morning and very mild pain at the moment.

I'm assuming at some point it will get heavier again as from what i've read it sounds like it goes on for a week or so. Is that always the case?

Emotions are up and down at the moment too. Waves of guilt and being upset mixed with thinking practically and logically about what has happened and how to cope with it.

There seems to be so much mixed info online it's hard to know what is true and what isn't. I didn't ask the hospital much because I was so shocked and upset I couldn't speak. i'm not even clear when it's okay to start trying again.

x
