Where there’s a Yam, there’s a way

Thread numero four-o.

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shall not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shall not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shall not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shall not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shall not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shall not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if they do so.

Welcome and welcome. We’re all very nice and friendly despite being horrible bitter old cows ☺️

Oh, so sorry, Limp. The waiting is bad enough, I remember what it's like. Still keeping fingers crossed for good news tomorrow x

SoozC · 07/02/2018 16:59

Totally, Spark! Everyone knows it only takes a yam to get preggers. I know someone who's a friend who has a colleague who's sister got pregnant and she ate a sweet potato that month.

SoozC · 07/02/2018 17:02

And I'd just like to say - sorry for the three posts in a row - that I'm having right hip pain and I've had trouble sleeping the last two nights. I'm clearly preggers, despite the fact that I'm not even 100% sure I ovulated at the weekend. What else could all these symptoms mean?!?!

RhiBee29 · 07/02/2018 17:15

Oh @LimpLettice hang in there, what utter bollocks!

@WonkyDonk87 could you look into a private consultation or ask for a 2nd opinion.

@SoozC you are 100% upduffed!

@Bubblegum89 hope all was ok.

I'm trying to decide whether to make a gp appointment so I get in for the 3-5day test or wait until af arrives then call. No positive opk this cycle had things haven't felt right since mc. Just worried the gp will be dismissive as I already have a DS and a mc so pregnancy is possible for me.

SparkwoodAnd21 · 07/02/2018 17:16

Oh limp that totally sucks.

Bubblegum89 · 07/02/2018 17:18

Oh fgs limp what a nightmare! I can totally understand your frustration, hopefully you’ll know what’s going on by tomorrow morning.

My HyCoSy went fine. Wasn’t a HSG because it was an US not an X Ray. Was a bit uncomfortable but not too bad. When I heard her say about the dye spilling through my tubes I could’ve honestly cried. I so thought they’d be blocked but they’re not, they’re totally fine. She also said she couldn’t see my adhesions when she inflated and used saline in my uterus but I’m not 100% convinced so going to see if they will do a hysteroscopy, will ask the consultant at our next appointment. So yeah, getting there slowly. Honestly after the few weeks I’ve had, I really needed to hear some good news. Obviously now I’m worrying that it’ll be unexplained infertility but that’s a bridge I’ll cross when I get to it lol

Sooz everyone who has been pregnant has eaten or been near or knows someone who’s has been near a sweet potato or maybe even an actual yam at some point. #fact

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 07/02/2018 17:21

Arghhh @LimpLettice how unfair! I really hope you get answers soon.

I'm 8dpo and have the usual sore breasts and irritability which I'm taking to mean AF will be here on Monday as predicted. I hate TTC so much. I've been much better at not symptom spotting this month.

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 07/02/2018 17:23

Glad to hear about your tubes @Bubblegum89. Going to book with the GP next week myself and try and get the ball rolling.

QuietTime · 07/02/2018 17:27

limp ffs, not what you need - glad Monday's levels looked OK and everything crossed the clinics sorts its shit out soon & things still look good; hope you can get some rest or distraction in the meantime XXX

bubblegum that's great news! Is there any reason why you're not convinced? Did they say what next steps would be? Hope this gives you a bit of comfort, I know it's frustrating in many ways xxx

QuietTime · 07/02/2018 17:28

sooz totes preggers with those symptoms ;)

Biscay am in a similar position, waiting for AF - really hope yours doesn't show xx

QuietTime · 07/02/2018 17:29

P.s. great you're getting the ball rolling, Biscay! It can hurt to have to take the step, but at least it's some kind of progress xx

LimpLettice · 07/02/2018 17:32

It's going to be bed and try to sleep through it again I guess. You know that bit at about 8dpo where you try not to get your hopes but secretly think you feel sick and your head aches with it? It's that times a zillion Sad

Bubblegum that is good news. I know how worried you were about blocked tubes.

Bubblegum89 · 07/02/2018 17:44

Thanks everyone :) QuietTime I’m not convinced because my periods went south after my d&c which is the main symptom of uterine adhesions (that and infertility)

It's still positive news, Bubble, even if you feel further tests are required. It must be something of a relief! So pleased for you :)

I realise I am upduffed, hence my being in the pub drinking real ale and having a Pringle-frenzy!

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 07/02/2018 18:15

@SoozC being in a pub drinking real ale is one of my favourite things.

LexieJean · 07/02/2018 18:19

That sounds excellent @sooz Cheers 🍻

SoozC · 07/02/2018 18:38

I should have mentioned I'm playing darts too!

Biscay, I feel a Yammers meet up coming...

Yes @Milknosugar1 I'll raise a pint of ale to you from up north next time I have one. I would have never had myself down as an ale drinker but DP has me hooked and now I love the stuff. We're even getting a few barrels in for our wedding next year!

DoAsDreamersDo · 07/02/2018 20:11

I’m working tonight or I’d definitely be joining you ladies for a drink 🍻

Bubble that sounds positive! Although still no answers for you!

SoozC · 07/02/2018 20:20

FFS, still feeling a bit nauseous, had spaghetti hoops and a penguin biscuit for dinner though, that's probably the cause. But then I go and have back pain to go with my earlier hip pain and I think I must be preggers.

I can't believe I'm two years in and I'm STILL fucking symptom spotting. Will I never learn?!

Glad I had the ale though - Holy Grail from the Black Sheep brewery, yummy!

Bubblegum89 · 07/02/2018 20:27

Sooz I don’t think any of us ever learn, not really!

MynameisJune · 07/02/2018 20:44

@limp sometimes you just couldn’t make this shit up! Hope it’s fixed and sorted for early tomorrow morning.

@bubble glad it was positive even if it doesn’t provide any easy answers to your questions.

I’m 9 or 10dpo no symptoms to speak of, could have pre-af symptoms that are being masked by jet lag, but who knows!

MynameisJune · 07/02/2018 20:46

@sooz it’s human nature to hope even when we try to convince ourselves that there is nothing to hope for. Really hope this is your month!
