Ladies, the old thread has now closed so I created a new one but can't post the link, hopefully you'll find it and we can continue.

Yes Clomid.

I think stats are conflicting. I’m trying to find ones I saw in a book...

Cleozeta · 09/01/2018 18:48

I have just read somewhere that over the age of 40, 90% of our eggs are useless Shock

Orchid222 · 09/01/2018 18:53

That doesn't sound too encouraging :( but like I said when I joined my grandmother got pregnant with her last child by accident at 44 and my friend has a friend who had kids at 46 and 48 and there are tons of examples like that so I'm refusing to believe it won't happen. Might take longer but it must happen at some point.

I think I read that it's 10% chance every cycle over 40 but then it's only 25% if under 40 I think so not great odds. AF arrived today. I didn't expect it to work this month but doesn't stop you symptom spotting and thinking there is a chance. Going to start on the evening primrose today and get some grapefruit juice tomorrow.

Sorry Jojo, onwards and upwards.

I really do think we have some good eggs left, it’s just a case of everything else lining up and catching them.

Who would and who wouldn’t go down the IVF route?

Karigan1 · 09/01/2018 20:09

Sorry JoJo.

Thank you for the info alibaba. That’s interesting to know.

Still too early to test here I think. I think earliest chance of a postive might be Sunday. Loving these hormones kicking in again signs lol. Yesterday I got blue veins on my boobs! What is with that!

littlemimosa · 09/01/2018 20:12

That was a great link on Shatavari Ali. Very interesting that it is supposed to help with follicular phase/egg maturity. That's my problem area.
Wondering if i should up my dose now from 1 to 2 tablets.....

CD 8 here and ovulation has been and gone. Interestingly my last two cycles I've noticed that i'm getting my peak on the opk AFTER i get my ovulations signs/symptoms. For some reason the LH is not showing up in my urine until either ovulation is in full swing or towards the end of the whole process. How odd. But like that link on the last thread said (sorry can't remember who posted it) it's an age thing. I t got me thinking that we're all relying on opks but that we're probably missing prime fertile days before an opks shows as positive. I know for sure that I conceived my first 3 pregnancies days before ovulation. My problem now is that ovulation comes almost straight after AF! grrrr

JoJoyorker · 09/01/2018 20:28

Little I think that must be what is happening with me. Ovulation is happening before OPK picks up the peak. I'm going to try a few days earlier this month which is our only choice anyway with DH working away. Karigan blue veins can be a sign of BFP? Maybe it's a AF symptom too but I'm not sure. it's not something I've every had for either.

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 20:30

I took 2 today Mimosa - I stop at ov right?

So Dr Zhai says 5-6 decent eggs/year over 40.

Emma Cannon says approx 10% of eggs in ivf cycles are decent over 40 (but IVF-ers have more fertility issues than average and lower fertility). That’s 2 eggs/year.

Big difference eh? Hope it’s the first figure!

Cleozeta · 09/01/2018 20:31

Thanks for info alibaba, an interesting read. A bit more positive than my find! haha
I'm sure we stand a chance. The amount of people I see having healthy babies in their 40's does not match up with the crap stats.
Sorry to hear of AF jojo, always such a disapointment isn't it. Positivity for next cycle.
Alibaba I wouldn't do IVF, for me if it doesn't happen I'll be sad, but am very grateful for the children I have. I think if I were trying for a first at this stage, then I would definitely do IVF though.
I think I'm going to continue trying naturally until about 43 or until I stop ovulating, whichever comes first. What is everyone elses cut off line?

Karigan1 · 09/01/2018 20:32

JoJo well that would be nice but most things are both so firmly refusing to symptom spot. Well trying anyway!

JoJoyorker · 09/01/2018 20:44

I think we would try everything. We have one and we both strongly feel we don't want her to be an only. I'm soon to be 41 so not sure when and how to even look into taking things further. We probably need to try for another 4 months or so then get some help. We live in the middle of nowhere so wouldn't be easy to find a clinic, it would be a big commute. I think I would stop when I get to 44/45.

littlemimosa · 09/01/2018 20:53

Jo Jo - sorry to hear AF arrived, i know that feeling only too well.

Karigan - could be PMS or could be pregnancy. Early pregnancy symptoms are often identical to PMS.

ALi - i've not stopped Shatavari at ovulation, Did you read that somewhere?

No we wouldn't do ivf now. Not for #3. Aren't we too old anyway? Don't clinics have cut off ages of 42 or something?

Cleo - i think 43 would be my cut off too. So sad that there has to be a cut off at such a young age. I look about 12 but my innards are decrepit and I have to be honest, I'm frightened of birth defects:(

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 21:03

Mimosa - I’ve read on a few forums that you should stop taking it at ovulation because it cools the body and warmth is needed after ovulation.

JoJoyorker · 09/01/2018 21:12

I am too little. We paid for non invasive testing last time and would do the same again.

Orchid222 · 09/01/2018 21:18

Like JoJo we have one child and want another one (or two) desperately so would try anything. I'm willing to do ivf if everything else fails but want to explore other options first (relatively quickly if possible).
Question to everyone who ovulates before opks turn positive: how long before opks do you ovulate? I need to rely on opks since i dont have ov signs. I get a smiley between cd14-17 but we start dtd around cd9-10 last month even as early as cd7. Is it possible we miss ovulation?

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 22:16

Do you temp Orchid?

Orchid222 · 09/01/2018 23:33

No but I know I should. Will start next cycle.

OP posts:
Orchid222 · 09/01/2018 23:36

Just saw JoJo's message about non invasive testing. We did the same and Will do it again if (or hopefully when) I'm pg again.

Orchid222 · 09/01/2018 23:39

Forgot to ask-do you take ubiquinol and epo throughout the cycle? My acupuncturist says it's fine to continue with ubiquinol but I've been stopping mid-cycle just in case. Only started epo a few days ago so need to google what to do.

OP posts:
JoJoyorker · 10/01/2018 07:21

I think someone said on here EPO from day 1 until ovulation. I've read that elsewhere too.

littlemimosa · 10/01/2018 07:24

Orchid - stop the EPO at ovulation. Think that is universally agreed. Ubiquinol is safe to take all month.

Ali - I’ve been looking into Shatavari and can only find one forum where one person said to stop at ovulation. I’m going to continue all month for now and ask the herbalist who recommended it. I won’t see her til next week though. Will let you know.

Orchid222 · 10/01/2018 07:51

Great, thanks! I'll stop EPO after cd12 since my opks don't turn positive before cd14.
