Ladies, the old thread has now closed so I created a new one but can't post the link, hopefully you'll find it and we can continue.

Here’s a link on Shatavari:

www.google.co.uk/amp/www.thehealthsite.com/pregnancy/reasons-shatavari-is-a-wonder-herb-for-women-trying-to-get-pregnant-d1215/amp/

What caught my eye is that it keeps temps low during the follicular phase and improves egg quality.

Orchid - I would have thought a decent prog level like yours would mean decent egg quality as prog comes from the corpus luteum.

It is frustrating when you’re told everything is good and still nothing but 8 months ttc is not that long so keep going!

How often do you all dtd?

I was told every other day. I see a guy at The Women’s Natural Health Clinic.

Karigan1 · 09/01/2018 09:57

I just discovered this site. I signed up to one of the lessons and it’s giving interesting info and a link to a Facebook page. Might help with progesterone issues or irregularity

Orchid, I noticed a small difference with epo the first month. Nothing dramatic, but something rather than the usual nothing!

Alibaba do do you think shatavari can be taken alongside soy? Or is it estrogen based?

We dtd every other day. Apparenently that is the best way of always 'having in your system' but also giving it opportunity to replenish

JoJoyorker · 09/01/2018 11:26

Ali we only manage twice each time. We need to DTD more. It's always tricky with DH working away. So next peak should fall Tuesday Wednesday when he will be away. Would you suggest DTD Saturday and Monday or Sunday and Monday? Does there need to be a free day in between to replenish? But Sunday and Monday closer to ovulation day. I know they says every other day but then that SMEP I keep seeing others talk of says every day when ovulating

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 12:14

I would say Sat and Mon evening.

Similar to us, I’m hoping for ov next Monday at the earliest and OH is away Fri-Sun so I’m hoping Fri am and Sun pm will be ok. I do sometimes ov earlier though.

Cleo, not sure but I would say either Soy or Shatavari, not both.

Orchid222 · 09/01/2018 13:06

We dtd every other day an every day from peak on opk but might try just every other day this cycle.
Alibaba-did you have to be referred to that consultant by a gp?

OP posts:
Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 13:28

It’s a private clinic. The initial consultation was £200ish plus blood tests. They tested FSH, LH, oestrogen, AMH and progesterone. I’d had 2 scans done on NHS so didn’t need that.

Karigan1 · 09/01/2018 13:34

Did you have to be referred to it or could you just go along?

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 14:07

I just booked - no referral needed.

Are you based in London/south-east?

Cleozeta · 09/01/2018 14:11

What things do they do that they don't do on NHS? I had been considering going private

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 14:28

Some GPs do not offer many tests over 40. I had a few done on NHS but they wouldn’t prescribe anything other than refer me for self-funded IVF.

This private clinic has prescribed Chinese medicine - but still not pg! I have another consultation in 15 mins. I’ll let you know what he says.

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 15:19

So he’s recommended trying IUI next. He says with everything functioning normally, chances of conceiving each cycle 40+ are 10% and with IUI it’s 25%. But first we need sperm test, cd21 test, high vaginal swab and a tube test. He said total cost is around £600 per cycle and he’s recommend 2 cycles. No meds involved but he can give me herbs to improve endo lining.

Orchid222 · 09/01/2018 15:19

Very interesting curious to hear what he says now. My gp is referring me to a fertility clinic but didn't offer any scans beforehand hence I'm going to see my ob-gyn. If he spots something or gives me something that helps and I get pg I'll happily share his details with you. :)

Good luck ladies. I thought it would be more than that. Nice to know there’s an affordable back up option.

Karigan1 · 09/01/2018 15:23

can I be a CF and ask how old you both are and how long you’ve been trying? Sorry!

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 15:50

I was expecting £1000 for IUI.

I’m 42 and have been trying 19 months.

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 15:54

I also asked him about Soy and he said it boosts oestrogen and can’t do any harm.

Hurry up Shatavari - I want to get cracking on that!

Cleozeta · 09/01/2018 15:57

That sounds worth doing alibaba, 25% is good odds. What does IUI involve?

JoJoyorker · 09/01/2018 16:21

25% is really good, I had no idea it was so affordable. How did you find a clinic did GP refer?

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 16:26

I think it’s cheap because it’s non-medicated IUI. I found the Clinic through Clara on this thread but had heard of the guy already.

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 16:28

Reading online, I’m not convinced of that 25% success rate.

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 16:40

This is what I read online:

As with any fertility treatment, the younger the woman is the higher her chances of getting pregnant. You’re also more likely to get pregnant if you have fertility drugs to stimulate your natural cycle.

For women under 37 about 13% of IUI cycles result in a pregnancy (a cycle is one full round of IUI treatment). Women aged 38 to 39 get pregnant in around 10% of cycles. For women over 40 your chances are lower (less than 7% for women aged 40 to 42 and 3% for women aged 43 to 44). These statistics are for people who take fertility drugs – success rates are lower without any drugs.

Many women will have several cycles of IUI before they have a successful pregnancy so it’s worth considering that when you’re thinking about costs of treatment.

Alibaba2 · 09/01/2018 18:20

Does anyone take DHEA? Where do you get it from?

Cleozeta · 09/01/2018 18:20

Wow. So if it's less than 7% with IUI for 40+, what is the % naturally?....

Cleozeta · 09/01/2018 18:21

And when they talk about fertility drugs, which ones do they mean? Clomid?
