Ladies, the old thread has now closed so I created a new one but can't post the link, hopefully you'll find it and we can continue.

I got pregnant in the 1st month at 38 which is probably why this feels even longer. Oh well need to keep going.

littlemimosa that all sounds really positive. Will you continue to try naturally if all other tests are good, or are you thinking of taking the assisted route?

Orchid I was the same m. First month at 38 so why is it so difficult this time!

I know JoJo, I didn't think we'd be lucky enough to conceive on the 1st try again but I certainly didn't expect it to take that long!

Some more BFP would be good!

Also still got ewcm and um plenty of fluid ‘down there’ so with a bit of luck ovulation will actually be tomorrow or the day after! Dtd again today. You got to be in it to win it afterall 😉

That sounds good karigan, it could be the EPO? I think I did have a lot more watery EWCM on my last day this month I think r must be the EPO

How long after the CB peak do you think you ovulate?

I don’t know. It’s only my second cycle after stopping the pill so still learning. I suspect the following day as last cycle opk peak was day 10 and it was a 25 day cycle

Well I've been stressed at work for months so that hasn't changed. The only thing different this month are the Chinese herbs so here I am paying a small fortune for something that's supposed to help but seems to be doing the opposite. I asked the Chinese place about it yesterday but they said no the herbs wouldn't delay it so I am at a loss. Unless my in surge was so low opk just didn't pick it up? It's so confusing.

Orchid, my opk did not show positive this month but I definitely ovulated acording to temps. Is it possible you missed it? Have you had any other symptoms earlier in the month?
Otherwise it may still be yet to come.

Maybe that's it. Not sure how I'd miss it doing cb in the morning and cheapies 3 times a day. I thought I was ovulating on the weekend but since I didn't get anything on opks I figured I was wrong. Hopefully not as I'm waiting for af to arrive so I can have my tubes checked and get on with the fertility clinic appt.

This is my first post but I've been reading posts here on this thread for the last couple of weeks. I felt the thread needed some cheering up and more BFP stories. It felt wrong to just lurk when I have something positive to contribute.

Firstly, I'm aware I'm very lucky but in case this gives anyone hope..... I had my first baby last year conceived when I was 41 after 4 months of TTC. He's now 8 months and I got my BFP a week ago aged 42 and a half. This time it took us only ONE month of TTC. I'm really hoping it works out as I'm desperate for DS to have a sibling and I loved having a newborn and really everything about motherhood so far. We will have a 14 month gap and there are lots of reasons why this is a bad idea practically and financially, but I'm thrilled.

Wishing everyone here the best of luck. I take my baby to various baby activities in my area and I've met quite a few mums over 40. I rhink I've had an easier time than most of them getting pregnant but they are not all IVF mums. Plenty of natural conceptions amongst them.

Wow thanks for that positive post petra! We all need to hear that! So much disapointment on this thread it does make me wonder if it's an unrealistic dream. So good to hear of real life successes. Congrats to you, I hope pregnancy 2 goes really well

Cleo - no we will draw the line at fertility treatment. Couldn’t face that. Just going to take the tests so I know I’m not flogging a dead horse, then all being well with those we’ll just keep going naturally.

Petra - great to hear of over 40s pregnancies. We do need positive stories on here. And congratulations on #2.

Orchid - do you usually have ovulation symptoms? Ovulation is so obvious to me I cannot fail to miss it. Very weird.

Same here Mimosa. Ever since DD2, ov has been quite painful. Am beginning to wonder if my tubes are blocked.

Lovely positive post Petra, hope all goes smoothly with no 2. I'm now wondering how much impact age has - it's only taken us two more cycles to get a bfp this time than it did at age 34 with first dc. I think some people are just naturally more fertile than others.........we fully expected it to take a long time as it has with both dc. But I have friends who literally fall pregnant in the first one to two cycles every time they try! Even late 30's. I'm now pretty anxious about miscarriage statistics at our age.........but whatever will be I guess. Good luck ladies.

Mimosa-I don't have many ov symptoms which is why I've been relying on opks. That being said last month I had a good amount of ewcm which I attributed to epo and greifruit juice but this cycle there hasn't been much at all despite of me taking both. On Saturday and then Monday I felt quite a bit of pain and, like Ali, started wondering if my tubes were blocked. One more reason why I'm so anxious for this cycle to be over so I can get them checked out! This morning a cheapie showed a faint line so maybe something is about to happen though cb didn't pick anything up.

I got a fairly obvious right sided twinge pain yesterday on Cd 10 24 hrs after the positI’ve opk. I suspect that as ovulation. Going to speak the the dr about the early ovulation tomorrow. Don’t get huge amounts of ewcm but do get some for a couple of days.

Ah thanks! It's really exciting. I know it's easy for me to say but I do think age is less a factor than it's made out to be. Most of the couples I know who had fertility problems started TTC quite young- very early 30s. But I do feel very fortunate to leave it so late and be in my current position. I wanted to take advantage of the supposed fertility boost immediately after having a baby- I definitely think there is something in that theory. Almost everyone I know who had a miscarriage got pregnant again in the 2 or 3 months afterwards so I think that also gives a fertility boost. I so so so hope mine sticks but even if it doesn't I will remind myself getting pregnant at all is a really positive sign.

Ali would you consider getting your tubes checked? I’ve been referred for an hsg so just waiting now on the date.
Karigan - I would be very interested to know what your doctor says about early ovulation. Do keep us posted. I have the same issue.
