Ladies, the old thread has now closed so I created a new one but can't post the link, hopefully you'll find it and we can continue.

Thanks all Smile. I'm 41 weasel. We'd only planned to have two dc and have the baby making done before 40. Still feels surreal!

sparklyglitterball · 19/02/2018 19:51

Does anyone know much about taking baby aspirin to prevent miscarriage? It's my understanding that Drs feel it won't do any harm, but I don't know if the research on benefits is clear yet. Is anyone taking it while ttc?

MrsBobDylan · 19/02/2018 19:51

Congrats Sparkly! I was just wondering if we should dtd tonight as we did it last night (and I got a positive ov stick this morning) when I read that you did it 5 times in fertile week!

On that inspiring note, I shall crack on tonight, and keep my fingers crossed we don't both fall asleep on the sofa or find a child already in our bed...

Alibaba2 · 19/02/2018 20:38

Congrats Sparkly!!!

Alibaba2 · 19/02/2018 20:43

Sparkly, any idea which day you ov’d and is brown discharge normal for you or was it perhaps the first pg symptom?

Jojo - I normally get ewcm from cd6 and it turns creamy in the day of ov. Occasionally I get ewcm after ov and sometimes around 7dpo.

Alibaba2 · 19/02/2018 21:01

I take baby aspirin - some days I forget and some cycles I don’t bother.

I read it’s to improve blood flow to uterus but does it also prevent clots?

Not sure about starting it BFP.

Karigan1 · 20/02/2018 06:47

Well got my opk peak today :(. CD 9. I guess my only hope is if I actually ovulate a day or so later otherwise it’s far too early right?

Alibaba2 · 20/02/2018 07:07

It’s stull possible Karigan. I googled it and found people who’d conceived on cd9 or even earlier.

Orchid222 · 20/02/2018 08:05

I have the opposite. Cd18 and still nothing on cb though I think I saw the faintest line ever in a cheapie this morning so will test mid-day and see. Dtd this morning just in case since my DH was too ill last night and I was worried if we lwavevit until tonight it might be too late (keeping in mind the surge might be detected late)

Karigan1 · 20/02/2018 09:16

Weirdly I didn’t have a short cycle last month so heavens knows what’s going on.

Just so happens we dtd last night anyway so guess I’ll just find out in a few weeks. Might book in with dr now anyway. Can always cancel if it does work.

Went for acupuncture & chinese herbs today. Interestingly the guy seemed to think my FSH was raised due to lack of nourishment (particularly meat as I was
Vegetarian for 20 yrs) I will be having weekly acupuncture and herbs then need to get my FSH checked again in 4-6 weeks.
He has advised i eat meat (specificaly lamb)

Orchid222 · 20/02/2018 14:12

Interesting about FSH and lamb! I had to change my diet too. Cleo how much are your herbs? I know you're not in London although I think I pay quite a bit even for London. That being said the woman seems really good, I could definitely see the difference between my acupuncture session with her and with my previous acupuncturist.

Cleozeta · 20/02/2018 15:12

My herbs were £50 but I got the powder variety, which is apparently more expensive. How much were yours?

Orchid222 · 20/02/2018 15:40

How long do they last? Mine are £90 pew week. Ouch 😣 they say I should do 3 months but no way am I spending that much on herbs! Can't afford it is rather keep the money in case I need any private scans/procedures

OP posts:
Karigan1 · 20/02/2018 15:57

Wow those are some pricy herbs! I hope they work ladies! Fingers crossed for you all.

Booked a Drs appt. will get them to check bloods I think.

Cleozeta · 20/02/2018 16:19

Ouch! 90pw is a lot! I don't know how long mine will last but I'm hoping more than a week...
I have been told to get FSH checked in 4-6 weeks, so hopefully they will have done their job by then!

Cleozeta · 20/02/2018 16:27

Good luck karigan! Let us know how you get on

littlemimosa · 20/02/2018 17:12

Sparkly congratulations!! So great to have some hope for us golden oldies. I bet you are seriously shocked. I would be lol.

So I went to fertility appointment today. It was just a consultation but I came out feeling reasonably positive. She basically said that over 40 you are still fully fertile but not every month and that it just means it will take longer to get pregnant than if you are in your 20/30s. She said she sees loads of women in their 40s and many end up pregnant. She also said my blood results were very good (my fsh was 6.5 but was taken on day 21 which I know is completely wrong but she said that it still indicates decent fertility) and she has referred me for the dye test to check tubes. It was all I could hope for really. They are going to repeat the bloods and also do a sperm test:) She really made my day when she said there was no reason I couldn’t fall pregnant and that I was healthier than most of the younger women she sees as they smoke, drink, eat cr@p and are overweight!
I took that as a compliment lol.

JoJoyorker · 20/02/2018 17:19

That sounds really promising mimosa. That is a really good fsh by the sounds of it. I hope you feel a bit more positive now and it's great they are looking into it. Is this NHS or private?

sparklyglitterball · 20/02/2018 17:22

Hi ladies, Ali I stopped using opk's a few months back, but I reckon I ovulate day 12/13 of a 24/25 day cycle. Interestingly I've never in my life had spotting before af, but have developed this in the last few cycles. So I really thought it was just that! But the pink/red/watery stuff was strange. Also that it was only on two occasions when wiping rather than a build up to af. I've had a rollercoaster day emotionally........a tiny bit of light brown discharge on wiping this morning, followed by boobs feeling less sore. Mentally busy day at work! Just got home and re tested with an ic and it's still positive. I was convinced af would start today, and I'd get a bfn. Really not allowing myself to believe this yet! Your appointment sounded really positive little. Good for us all to hear Smile

Orchid222 · 20/02/2018 17:47

Sounds really good and positive mimosa! Though itd be nice if it didnt take longer thsn a year even at our age. I'm waiting for cd1 to call and schedule the tube test so another 12 days or so to go.
Still nothing on opk which is driving me mad but I'm expecting it to change tomorrow since it's never been later than cd19. We'll see. I nust font know what to do about dtd. We did it this morning so is waiting until tomorrow night too long or do we go for it tonight and tomorrow night? Thus whole cycle is messed up and confusing...
Re: herbs yes they're v expensive hence I will only do one cycle even though they say it really takes 3 to take effect. I hope I'm not totally wasting my money doing it for just 1 month 🤔 but easy for them to say do 3 months, they're not the ones paying for it! 🤐

sparklyglitterball · 20/02/2018 18:06

Good luck with the herbs orchid, it must feel good to be doing something proactive to help things along. How long have you been ttc again?

Cleozeta · 20/02/2018 18:23

I wasn't told about 3 months needed to take effect, I got the impression it was pretty quick. I also have a friend who had the acupuncture and it fixed her cycle after 3 sessions. Hopefully you will get your moneys worth!!
As for when to dtd we can only ever do every other day so hopefully that would be enough! And with still no line on opk I wouldnt worry too much about doing too much at this stage, you don't want to wear yourselves out too early!

Orchid222 · 20/02/2018 18:32

Thanks sparkly it feels good but I think I'll change my mind when the credit card statement arrives :( we've been trying for 10 months which almost feels like 10 years!
Cleo-I I've had acupuncture since end of Oct...maybe the acupuncturist wasn't that good I don't know but this woman knows what she's doing so that's something. Hopefully herbs will be quick because I only have 1 month for them to work!

sparklyglitterball · 20/02/2018 18:53

I know it feels like an age. Took us 11 cycles to conceive dc no 1, and I was a mere spring chicken at 34!! I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Be great to see some more bfps on here soon.
