Ladies, the old thread has now closed so I created a new one but can't post the link, hopefully you'll find it and we can continue.

That is reassuring. Thank you for telling us. I went fishing for reassurance innthe chat pages too and there are loads of 40 plus ladies who have had babies!

JoJoyorker · 29/01/2018 11:35

That would be lovely, I've always wanted twins. Not sure my DH would agree! I've heard that about your body releasing more eggs. I've had my last 21 day test today due back weds. Hope your results are ok.

Cleozeta · 29/01/2018 11:48

Good luck with your results Jojo! I wasn't sure when I would need to get my results (I forgot to ask!) So I guess I'll check on Weds too. Fingerd crossed we both get good results

Karigan I did that too a while back, was good to see!

Clara101 · 29/01/2018 14:08

Hi all, not posted for ages but great to see all these discussions. I'm 45 now so my time pretty much out but we are gonna keep trying regardless. Am lucky to have DD born when I was 38 and Ds when 41.

I think there's a lot of truth in the article someone posted a few pages back. I also read that lady's book and found it v helpful.

Are you gonna do IUI Ali? Good luck everyone.

Dontfencemein · 29/01/2018 21:28

Ladies, may I jump upon this hopeful boat?

I’ll be 44 soon and am blessed with 2 DSs, conceived when I was 38 and 41, but I yearn for another one although I know it may not happen.

Have any of you noticed your periods getting shorter after children or with age? Is this a problem when TTC?

Karigan1 · 30/01/2018 06:47

I only just came off the pill so not really sure if they are shorter or just like that but this is my first proper cycle post pill and I got a peak on the opk on CD 10 or 11 which is disconcerting.

Evening primrose oil taken up to ovulation not after can push them back.

Karigan1 · 30/01/2018 06:48

Article I read yesterday said too early an ovulation May lead to immature eggs.

HappyHedgehog247 · 30/01/2018 07:15

Hi yes my cycle is getting shorter. Even over the 8 months I've been trying it is edging down! Acupuncturist said not great to ovulate too early as egg has not had time to fully mature.

JoJoyorker · 30/01/2018 09:14

What day do they say is too early? So for example on a 28 day cycle?

Karigan1 · 30/01/2018 10:07

The article I read was suggesting 8,9 and 10 was early. Hence why I’m hoping the LH surge was 24hrs before. Pushes it into day 11/12.

Alibaba2 · 30/01/2018 19:52

I’ve conceived on cd11 before.

Clara - I’ve gone cold on IUI idea but I’ll see how I feel once AF arrives on Thursday. Feel like I’m coming to the end of the road. And coming to terms with that. I hope I don’t crash later this week.

Cleozeta · 31/01/2018 15:10

Got the results from my day 21 blood test today. It was 28.4
Is that good or bad?

JoJoyorker · 31/01/2018 15:28

Did the doctor put a comment on? I think they say over 30 indicates ovulation so is just below. Was it definitely 7 days before AF due?

Cleozeta · 31/01/2018 16:11

It was 8 days past ovulation according to opk's & temps. (Day 7 was a Sunday)
Receptionist initially had just said 'normal', so I asked for the number.

Cleozeta · 31/01/2018 16:11

Did you get your results back jojo?

JoJoyorker · 31/01/2018 16:56

It was 91 this time but it's been a real range between the 4 results. Are you having more than one test? What are the other tests they do? I'm concerned about the dark hairs on my chin and wonder if that's related to TTC. Is it FSH or something? I'll book another doctors appointment I think.

Cleozeta · 31/01/2018 18:13

Wow 91 is really high. What were the other results? How come you are having so many? I have only been offered the one and it's marked as 'normal' so no more actionn required.
Next test will be FSH next week when AF arrives (cd3) that is the one I am most nervous about as last time it came back borderline and relates to egg reserve and menopause, although last time I was not on cd3, so this time will be more realistic. The result of that could depend on weather to continue this crazy journey or not.

JoJoyorker · 31/01/2018 19:35

My first result was less than 10! So they said they were going to do another 3 tests to get a pattern. The others were 50 and 70. It's higher each time which is strange. I think the FSH is what I need next too.

JoJoyorker · 31/01/2018 19:36

It's a bit unfair they only do the one day 21 test as mine show it can vary a lot

Cleozeta · 31/01/2018 20:41

That's massive variations. And what can they tell you from that? Have they given you any information or reason behind the rise? Will next time be even higher?? At least you know you are definitely ovulating now anyway.
FSH test is always useful at our age. It can give us a vague idea of how long we have left. That is a test that we need results LOW!!

Orchid222 · 31/01/2018 22:01

Well we finally got a letter from the fertility clinic our gp referred us to. I was positive it was going to have an appt date but it only had info on how to log in online to fill out a questionnaire so our case can be reviewed and appropriate tests organised prior to an appt so I dondon't t think we'll have an appt until March at the very earliest. :(

Orchid222 · 31/01/2018 22:29

Cleo-when you get the FSH results make sure you get all the numbers. I was told normal for everything. Then I went to see my acupuncturist and she asked to see the results saying normal didn't tell her much and it really helps to see where on the scale you are so I now have to go back to my gp practice to get the results.

OP posts:
JoJoyorker · 31/01/2018 22:44

Cleo I've not spoken to the doctor about the results. I just rang the receptionist and she said normal each time so I asked for the figure. I guess when I book to see doctor again and ask for FSH I will see if he knows why it's varied so much. It's difficult to find anything about the ranges on the internet just says over 30!

Cleozeta · 31/01/2018 23:40

It's interesting how mine came back as 'normal' at 28.4 when the line seems to be over 30. I do wonder sometimes if it's a fob off. I will deffinitely get numbers for FSH. I don't trust 'normal' any more!
It will be interesting to hear what your gp has to say about your variations jojo, especially as they seems to actually be a steady rise over the months. Intreaguing!

Sorry to hear about your appointment orchid. I've heard these things can take ages, bloody annoying when we don't have ages to spare though!! Hopefully it'll move quickly once you get going with it.

sparklyglitterball · 01/02/2018 12:48

Hi ladies, hope you're all doing ok. Sorry to hear you're finding it all really stressful little mimosa, but I completely agree. It does wear you down. Orchid, I hope your fertility appointment comes through soon. I'm coming up to fertile time this weekend, so need to get bding! We're supposed to be aiming for dtd every other day throughout my cycle, but just been too busy since last af. Like you Ali, I sometimes feel like I'm coming to the end of the road with ttc. If I was following my head instead of my heart we wouldn't be trying at all! I'm not going to pursue any fertility testing, or even bother seeing the gp. If it was meant to be hopefully it'll happen...........but soon would be good as I'd like to put this chapter behind me before too long. Hope everyone is having a good daySmile
