Ladies, the old thread has now closed so I created a new one but can't post the link, hopefully you'll find it and we can continue.

Oh Cleo that sounds so stressful! 😣 I don't think I could temp for that reason. I tend to get obsessed with things and I struggle to sleep at the best of times. I know I would over analyse all the time if I temped. Do you have a regular cycle? Do you use OPK

Karigan1 · 25/01/2018 09:52

I purchased a thermometer. I lasted 3 days then thought I can’t keep this up lol. Cervix monitoring and peeing on sticks seem best to me lol at least until I find out what kind of cycle I have without hormone interference.

Cleo you need a spa day!

JoJoyorker · 25/01/2018 09:54

I just typed a message but it's disappeared. I was reading a long term TTC board earlier. They had a rare two BFPs this week and both were from posters who thought @&£! It and didn't temp, test or DTD at the right time. It does make you wonder.

JoJoyorker · 25/01/2018 10:29

I am obsessed. I just rang to book a service on my car and I said to the receptionist can I book a cervix. So embarrassing 😳😂

Karigan1 · 25/01/2018 11:02

Lol did you cover it quickly! Yeah the dr said to me that stressing about it temping etc actually stops it happening. :/

Alibaba2 · 25/01/2018 11:08

That’s brilliant Jojo!

Cleozeta · 25/01/2018 11:22

Haha jojo that properly just made me LOL Grin

I think there is definitely something to be said for not stressing, I've heard of so many people who struggled to conceive for a long time and then succeeded on the one time they chilled out about it. Maybe I need to drop the temping. It's tricky as it is useful for confirming ov, and I've had a few months where I did not ov at all, so I'vee found the temping really useful for the confirmation, but maybe I need to literally just temp on the days of +opk then finish once confirmed. I do really need to chill out though, it's not going to happen like this

LimpLettice · 25/01/2018 12:22

Hello ladies. I hope you don't mind me delurking but I think I might be one of the long termers with the unexpected BFP, I am also 40. I am also terrified and not smug - who knows if this one will stick.

I was told last month by a cousin who is a midwife and had her 3rd child in her 40s that the clearblue digi ovulation tests are not always great for 40+ers. They work, but the gap between LH surge and ov is much shorter than in younger women, so by the time you get your peak, you likely have ovulated. Especially as you do them in the morning which could be a fair while after your surge. So I ditched them this month. Not saying that is why, but though I would pass that on :)

Karigan1 · 25/01/2018 12:31

Ah that’s interesting and useful to know. To be honest though I’m going for the good old having sex every other day anyway :). The sticks are more for peace of mind knowing somethings happening hormone wise :)

If this baby doesn’t happen it won’t be for lack of ‘doing it’ ;).

LuckyHappyMummy123 · 25/01/2018 12:37

LIMPLETTICE - whispering congratulations and fingers well and truly crossed for you Smile. Thank you for that info re the Clearblue digi ovulation tests - that is very interesting to note. May I ask how old you are? It seems ok to ask on here when I would not even dream of asking anyone in RL!! xx

LimpLettice · 25/01/2018 12:52

Not at all Lucky I was 40 in September. I have a DD who is 8, and have been TTC since early last year. Early m/c in July and a chemical not long after. Thanks for the whisper - I am so nervous!

Karigan we have done that too a fair amount of the time, but I still think we were mistiming fairly often over the last year.

Karigan1 · 25/01/2018 13:03

Hey you were 40 at the same time as me. :) hope everything goes well for you

Orchid222 · 25/01/2018 13:05

I'm actually wondering about the whole timing thing, sure it's important but at the end of the day I think things happen when they are meant to happen. We've been dtd every other day pretty religiously and only using opks for confirmation, first cheapies then digital cb. I just find it hard to believe that dtd every other day we mistimed it each time for 9 months. I think it just wasn't meant to be then but hopefully a BFP is on the cards soon.

LimpLettice-congrats btw and fingers crossed it all goes well!

HappyHedgehog247 · 25/01/2018 13:20

Congrats @limplettuce my fingers very crossed for you! how exciting!
And your comment on CB digi confirm my experience. Used it fine at 36, at 42 it's not working the same way.

LOL@ Jojo! I think I need a cervix-service!

I'm 8dpo and starting to get twitchy to test even though a)it's too early and b) we had some logistical challenges this month that meant timing wasn't perfect!

JoJoyorker · 25/01/2018 13:40

Limp lettuce yes I think you must be one of the BFPs I read about! Amazing news. Congratulations and fx all goes well for you.
I have heard that a couple of times now about CB and being over 40. That's why I made sure we did it the day before our peak this month but then I don't know what happened, maybe it was the EPO delaying ovulation this time.

Orchid222 · 25/01/2018 14:35

Happy-whats your experience with cheapies do you think at our age they're more reliable timing wise than digital cb?

OP posts:
HappyHedgehog247 · 25/01/2018 16:48

@orchid the cheapie are working well for me whereas I was getting Highs on the CBFM but not always peaks. I've always had a visible LH surge on the cheapies. Mine comes and goes quite fast but because they are cheap I can do 2 x day. What the temping has shown is that by the time they are darkest I have already/am in process of ovulating so I now know I need to try as soon as the colour starts changing. I know we are all different though. X

Alibaba2 · 25/01/2018 19:59

Hedgehog, I’m also 8dpo. Cycle-twin!

HappyHedgehog247 · 25/01/2018 21:58

Happy to have a cycle twin!

Karigan1 · 26/01/2018 07:12

Sooo yesterday I got a blank circle face on the cb advanced digital. We did the deed the day before yesterday but partner has a cold so I thought I’d let him sleep yesterday. This morning he’s on the way out the door and the test comes up with a static face!

Do they often go straight from nothing to static face?

Anyway I lured him back in with a promise of a bj to get him started and now he’s going to be late for work lol.

Hopefully there’s still a chance even if we didn’t do it yesterday we did do it the day before, the day before that and this morning!

JoJoyorker · 26/01/2018 08:19

I've never had it go from the blank circle to static. Have you been testing for a few days? As the first test you do will always be a blank circle. Sounds like you covered it anyway! I would probably try tonight and tmrw too.

Karigan1 · 26/01/2018 08:24

No I haven’t been testing. Yesterday was the first test. Was being cheap and saving tests lol.

Yeah I was thinking of dtd plenty in the next few days :)

JoJoyorker · 26/01/2018 08:47

You've probably been flashing smiley high fertility the last few days then so if you've been DTD sounds like you will have covered it.

Alibaba2 · 26/01/2018 09:09

So your surge is today and it probably didn’t pick up oestrogen rise as it didn’t have a baseline. Glad you got one in anyway!
