10dpo BFN - am I out?

So I promised myself that I would follow the advice of fellow Mumsnetters and not test too early....last all week but then couldn’t resist.

AF is due between 1st and 7th January. It will be the 1st if following trend on last cycle! Opk showed positive on 19th December so according to instructions ovulation should have taken place within 12-36 hours?

Hence this is why I think I’m 10dpo but BFN with a FRER this morning.

Do you think that I have just tested too early or that I’m unlikely to get a BFP this month?

Too early. Only a handful of people get bfps at 10 dpo. There really is no point in testing so early.

You're not out until AF arrives!

I got a BFN at 10dpo then a BFP at 11. Ended in MMC but wouldn't be related to that. I'd try hold off until AF due date and test if it doesn't arrive. Easier said than done I know! Good luck! x

Far, far too early to test. Give your body a chance! Your cycle sounds irregular too so your dates may be out, ovulation predictor or not. No testing until 8th Jan!!!!

Thanks for all your advice. Thought it may have been too early but wasn’t sure! Didn’t want to remain positive if I was completely out so thanks for reassuring me that it might just be because I stupidly tested too early! Hope you all have a great New Year xx

Hi hun i just saw this thread while searching on google as i had a bfn this morning and im 10dpo too! Cycle buddies lol. Af is due 3rd jan for me and im always regular the waiting game is awful! How long have you been ttc? Fingers crossed for us xxx

@ameliaxx. Yeah I got impatient and tested when I probably shouldn’t have! Only on cycle 2 of ttc so pretty new to all this...what about you? I’d love if we both started the new year with a BFP x

This is cycle 4 for us. Ive lost hope after my bfn yesterday so im going to wait it out as long as possible to see if af arrives she is due either the 2nd or 3rd so we will see! How od are you if you dont mind me asking? I feel like ive been trying forever considering im 23 and everyone my age gets pregnant accidently on the pill 😔🙈xxx

You are not out until af arrives. It’s perfectly normal for it to take up to 12 months to fall pregnant so you are still pretty early in the journey. I’d try not to worry too much although it’s easier said than done!

I do know what you mean though as there are babies everywhere. It seems as if everyone else gets that BFP at a drop of a hat my best friend has just had her baby 2 weeks ago and my cousin is due any day now....they both conceived first cycle.

Yeah it seems like everyone gets pregnant accidently and then theres people like us trying our best and it still not happening!

What has your cycle been like this month? I had some pink spotting when i wiped on 6dpo and a temp drop that same morning. Temps went higher after that and went triphasic im just extremely tired and at a complete loss of appetite! Been going to bed at like 8pm lol. Been having a LOT of white lotiony type cm too so no more spotting since. And lots of pulling twinge pain in my left pelvis everyday. I hate waiting 😂🙈

So do you use opks and bbt? Xxx

I use OPKs but I don’t BBT. Last cycle was 30 days but the two prior to that were 36 days. So still think my body is settling down after coming off bc in May!

Got a positive on my opk CD18 so should have ovulated with 12-36 hour period (at least according to instructions).

Af should be due anytime between 1st and 6th Jan depending on this month cycle length. Haven’t really had any af symptoms yet to be honest. Trying to not get my hopes up as I know that if longer cycle then af not due until the 6th and wouldn’t usually get af symptoms this early anyway....if that makes sense?

In general I have been hungry all the time, really tired with some twinges every so often. Especially if I stretch to reach something?!? Not too sure if they count as pregnancy symptoms though. I’m not getting any of the usual ones i.e. sore boobs, nauseous, dizziness.....

I’ve never had lots of cm so find it quite difficult to tell by that method!

I presume that you are ttc your first?

Oh right bbt is good but quite obsessive 😂🙈 i keep having loadsss of white cm to the point i think oh crap af is here then i go to the toilet and its not 🙌🏻🤞 yeah im trying for my first what about you? Yeah thats quite a big range of dates isnt it to be waiting til the 6th i just dont know if mines due the 2nd or 3rd. I came off the pill in september so the first month i didnt have a clue about ovulation n all this so that month was written off anyway but ive been using opks for three cycles now and bbt for this cycle and the last one. My cycles tend to be 28 or 29 days.

At least you know youre ovulating as a lot of women dont so thats a worry off our minds! When are you testing? Cant wait to see if you got bfp this month 🙌🏻🤞

I got a bfn at 14dpo when i was preg, when my previous pregnancies got bfp at 11dpo onwards. Each woman and each cycle can be different so try not to worry. Its not over til its over

@Ameliaxx. Yeah it’s my first as well so trying to be quite relaxed about it. Trying but not quite succeeding! Lol

I was thinking about testing on the 4th Jan as that’s halfway between 30 and 36 days. No rhyme or reason to that though! I’m not ‘feeling’ pregnant like some women say they do so not convinced that this is my lucky month! Although @honeycake 86 has given me a little bit of hope! I’ll be approx 15DPO on the 4th so fingers crossed!

When do you think you will be testing?

Well i tested yesterday with a frer and it was completely negative but i was 10dpo. 9dpo i tested with an internet cheapie and theres some kind of line shadow there but idk could just be evap but ive ran out of them now just my luck lol. Im going to try holding out as long as possible to see if af arrives if i can help myself but if af hasnt come on the 2nd or 3rd as expected i might do the 4th as ill be one or two days late if nothing by then.

15dpo will be a really good day to tes thas when a lot of people have got their bfps so you never know! Hope thats a lucky day for both of us ive got an interview that morning for a much better job so hopefully i get lucky with that and send some luck over to you and you get your bfp 💖🙌🏻🤞

Dont know whats come over me today but im constantly going dizzy and have to like stop what im doing for a few seconds to regain myself was scared i was going to pass out in tescos earlier lol 😂🙈

Ooh I do hope we get our BFPs together 🤞 how amazing would that be!! You do seem to have some of the key symptoms so sending you lots of baby dust.

I have no choice now but to wait at least a couple of days as no pregnancy test in sight and too late to nip to the shops to buy any....much better for me that way! Lol think at 15DPO I’ll get a pretty accurate result one way or the other. It just seems that the tww drags in each month

Yeah just realised we’ll both be 15dpo (hopefully) on the 4th eek 🤞🤞 yeah lol ive got a CB digital and two CB ones with the + and - the nondigital ones as all my cheapies ran out so cant even satisfy my cravings for squinting for lines haha

Yeah it drags SO MUCH an we put ourselves through it then AF comes lol. Dont think theres much more we could have done this month for trying though as we BD for four days before i ovulated and then the day of ovulation and the day after so if that hasnt covered us i dont know what will lol 🙈😂

Thank you i really hope so its quite a big deal for me not just because its a really good job but also because ive just come out of a three month long suicidal/psychotic episode so if i do get the job itll be a lovely fresh start for me but if not ill be staying at my current job afer my phased return from being off sick for three months and be moved to a different team (my team dont want to work with someone ‘mental’) which is fabulous lol but fresh start either job really. Do you work? It can take your mind off the TWW ive heard lol

My DH and I definitely dtd at the right time this month so here’s hoping! It’s just rubbish that there is only a 20% chance per cycle of actually getting that BFP. I go from being excited to hopeful to disappointed when af arrives!

Just ignore your work colleagues. Clearly they do not understand your situation at all. You should be proud that you have come through the other side much stronger and happier Don’t let anyone put you down!!

Yes I work in a fairly stressful job so don’t really have much time to think about anything. Think this tww seems longer as I have been off over xmas and can’t get it out of my mind. My DH and I have already discussed baby names.....talk about jumping ahead lol

Aww what field do you work in? As ive been off sick for three months i havent worked through any TWW as yet but itll go a lot faster when im back at work lol.

I know 20% is crap when people just so happen to get accidently pregnant on the pill or without even tracking i just dont know how that can possibly happen!

Yeah AF comes and its like a sinking feeling isnt it. I usually have cramps a few days before AF but i havent as yet and my temp from this time last month was a lot lower and started dropping fairly rapidly at this point. I swear throughout today my boobs have doubled in size theyve gone massive and heavy dont know whats happening want to chop them off lol 😂

Lol we discussed baby names before we even came off the pill 😂

I work in a sales team within financial services so the pressure is always there to hit the many targets set!

My af hasn’t shown yet and not feeling any of the symptoms so far. So think I’ve either had a longer cycle (and it will show later this week ) or I’m in with a shout of being pregnant . Don’t want to get my hopes up though!

Well my AF has shown today, so that was my last cycle trying lol ive given it 4 months if it should happen it would have so im having the implant done tomorrow

Ah I’m sorry to hear that. Gutted for you 😢 are you just going to have a break for a bit and then try again? I wouldn’t get too disheartened as it is perfectly normal for it to take up to 12 months xx

No im giving up with it completely now and the implant lasts 3 years n then its changed. Its just too much with my bipolar my lifes already a rollercoaster without adding this rollercoaster to it. And my personality disorder isnt being helped by any of it either so its for the best really i was warned against it months ago and ive been getting worse mentally everyday as ive got to be off meds while ttc too thats why i ended up psychotic for three months. So its for the best wasnt meant to happen else it would have wouldnt it :)
