we can symptom spot and discourage early-testing etc.

I often think that I keep Clearblue in business!

Now at least I have a genuine excuse to test......I can't start jabbing myself with the IUI hormones unless I am absolutely sure that I have a BFN.....HURRAH!

excuse my ignorance but whats the diff between ivf and iui?

IVF involves taking eggs out and fertilizing them and then putting them back in.
IUI is squirting the washed/prepared sperm up into the uterus so it gets right there....the eggs stay where they are!

This is obviously very simplistic but these are the main differences as far as I see it.

ah! weve been advised that ivf is our best chance now of a successful pg, but im determined to keep trying til thats our only option iykwim. are you still ttc naturally then?

I had one cycle of IUI and then a month without and now my second IUI.
You have you abstain from BDing 36 - 48hours prior to OV.
Still BD up til then and a couple of days after to give it the best chance.

How long have you been ttc then if they say IVF is the next step?

6y with ds and have been ttc again for 18m but had 4 confirmed mcs and 2 suspected along with 1 ep in between. they had to remove my left tube with the ep and with ds i bled from 5w-20w. so the chances arent fab

have started taking asprin as well now, getting pg is no prob at all, i just cant hang on to them. now i know for def what a mc is like im sure i had 3/4 before ds was conceived too

Sounds like you have had a rally tough time with it all.

Isn't it frustrating when you hear of people who accidently fall pg when we are trying so damn hard?

im considering getting wasted as a fertility aid!

seems to work for loads of people!

tbh, i try not be resentful or jealous, but its so difficult! every week i hear about someone else getting pg or having a baby and i want to scream. pretty sure that ive ovd from my tubeless side too this month, but you never know!

Excuse the ignorance but I don't know.

I have to say that I got pg the month I had decided it was all a waste of time and I was having a break from the clomid tablets.
Having said that though.....if you try to tell yourself that you have given up in the hope that you might fall pg....then you haven't given up have you??!!!
It only works once!!!!!!

yes, the ovary is fine, but my tube had ruptured, so half my eggs are just going to waste!

How blimin' frustrating.
So I guess you're not on any medication for conceiving then.....are you self-medicating with the asprin.
Have the consultatnts suggested progesterone to support a pg?

Again, I am totally ignorant in this area....just thinking out loud really.....

im self-medicating with the asprin with the unofficial support of the fertility nurse. im going to ask about progesterone(sp) at our next appt. have had loads of bloods done so should get those results soon. i always mc at around 6w (so when the heart starts beating)

sorry if im being insensitive but do you have any lo's?

I fell pg after nearly five years of trying but my ds was till born due to a knot in his cord.
Rather a shock to everyone including the poor midwife who came to see how advanced I was in my labour. All was normal til then and my ds even decided to come on his due date! But I guess as he dropped dwon to be born the knot tightened and that was that.

We have been trying again now for another 22 months.

What an effort it all is!!!!!

oh how awful, im so sorry! wish there was something i could say {{hug}}

youve hit the nail on the head, its just exhausting! you spend 2w waiting for your optimum time then have 3-4d of frantic shagging then 2w of torture! i cant even have sex during my 2ww coz im too tense!

again sorry if im prying but did the docs find out why you are having probs?

LOL at your summary of ttc!!!

No...just unexplained infertility...seems to cover a wide variety of things!

However, I'm pretty sure that it's because my luteal phase is too short.
On a natural cycle I only have around 8 days.
With the IUI they given me a shot of hcg 5 days after the procedure which tricks my body into thinking that it's pg and, so, I guess making the LP longer.

Think getting pg with my ds was as a result of having clomid...which also lenthens the LP apparently.

Is there room for a leetle one ??

I'm on CD21 (5DPO) and feeling very mixed emotions. Normally super-confident but this cycle not feeling as positive as normal. Probably because it is cycle 8 and the GP appointment that I never thought I would need is looming ever closer.

Lissie - I am actually one of those highly annoying people that don't feel the urge to test early. Sickening I know. To this day I have never peed on a stick. Quite sad really.
Well, I intend to go to my GP next month, she suggested I go before 12 months to get any tests started so that she can refer after 12 months without having to wait for test results etc. I am really lucky to have her as my GP. This is our 8th cycle ttc, but I went for a smear a couple months before we started ttc and I told them we were, so she would log it on my notes, so the system thinks we have been trying longer. In hindsight I wish we had started sooner, but hey ho - you live and learn.

thanks sometimes i forget just how lucky i am! your gp sounds fab! ours is awful, after my last mc she asked if i was sure it was a mc and not just a af think i should know by now! she also missed my ep despite me having all the classic symptoms!

GPs vary hugely don't they.
Mine is fab....although he didn't know that every woman didn't ov 14 days before AF.....I taught him that!!!!
