How old were you when you first started ttc and how long did it take?

Tilapia · 29/10/2017 08:11

I was 30 (31 when he was born) and it happened on the third cycle of TTC.

PotteringAlong · 29/10/2017 08:12

I was 31 and it took 7 weeks.

Oysterbabe · 29/10/2017 08:14

34 and 5 cycles.
With my second I was 36 and it took 2 cycles.

NickMyLipple · 29/10/2017 08:15

I was 27 and I am l
(We are) a one shag wonder!!!

Whisky2014 · 29/10/2017 08:16

Oh wow ok. All quite fast then!

physicskate · 29/10/2017 08:22

I was 32 when we started ttc. Still not pregnant 20 months later...

So no, not all fast. Statistically, 80% will fall pregnant within a year. I did (twice) but both were early miscarriages.

koalab · 29/10/2017 08:23

31, 6 months.

Lizi192 · 29/10/2017 08:25

I had my coil removed on 3rd January. Partner went to work (army) on the 5th, he came home from 3rd-5th feb, by the 20th I had a positive test 😊 honestly thought it would take months. Turns out we only needed a weekend 😉

Whisky2014 · 29/10/2017 08:28

I didn't realise it was as high as 80%. I'm feeling less worried now. I just turned 31 and was starting to think I really need to get on with it.

I was very lucky - and it really is pure, blind, luck, I was 37 and it happened on my first cycle.

I hardly believed it, it made the first trimester feel very scary indeed (I felt that if it was that ‘easy’ to conceive surely something must go wrong).

I also felt, and still feel, a bit guilty about hw straight forward it was. I had several friends undergoing fertility treatment, and given my age, the fact I’d never been pregnant before (to my knowledge), I’d presumed it’d take some significant time.

Orangedaisy · 29/10/2017 08:29

33, 9 months. DD2 (in case you're interested) 36, 15 months but bf for first 12 months of that.

Cakescakescakes · 29/10/2017 08:30

29 and 14 months
32 and 11 months

ScarletSienna · 29/10/2017 08:32

First time I was 32/33 and first cycle. Second time at 35 took a bit longer but under 6 months.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 29/10/2017 08:35

I was 28 when we started, but it's been 15 months and three miscarriages now, so I'm now 30 and still trying... No one can say. Lots of people fall very quickly, lots don't. I suppose I fell in a reasonable time, since my first pregnancy was on cycle 7, but getting them to stick has been another matter.

eurochick · 29/10/2017 08:36

For contrast:

  1. 3 years and 2 rounds of iui and 4 rounds of ivf. No reason diagnosed - we were "unexplained".
AJPTaylor · 29/10/2017 08:38

child 1 26 and one shag.
child 2 28 and second month.
child 3 started trying at 36. fell pregnant at 39!

KarateKitten · 29/10/2017 08:38

31 and 1st cycle. A honeymoon baby. We've been lucky and never had any difficulty, 4 babies first try. But that really is a rarity. I think you'll find the most people who post on this thread are the ones who got pregnant quickly and easily.

usersos · 29/10/2017 08:41

38.....first time jackpot!

MsJuniper · 29/10/2017 08:42

34 and it took a year.

Tried again at 38 and it’s taken 3 years and 6 mc to get to being currently 17 wks.

Flowers to all those who’ve had to deal with issues ttc

AccrualIntentions · 29/10/2017 08:43

Started at 30. Took 2 and a half years.

AccrualIntentions · 29/10/2017 08:43

(Undiagnosed PCOS, needed Clomid in the end).

converseandjeans · 29/10/2017 08:45

31 and took 4 years for DD then 36 and second cycle for DS (so way quicker than expected)

tiggersdontlikehoney · 29/10/2017 08:45
  1. Had sex once. Took the MAP and it didn't work.
ScarletSienna · 29/10/2017 08:47

I just wanted to add to my post, the second time we were ttc my periods and cycles were erratic and I think this is linked to me being older even though only three years so. I was also shocked to learn just how much the odds of chromosomal disorders increased year on year.

Badgoushk · 29/10/2017 08:50

Aged 36, on my first cycle
