How old were you when you first started ttc and how long did it take?

DC1 24 straight away
Dc2 27 forgot to get the depo injection by a few weeks, went to get it had to do a urine test which was positive
Dc3 32 was a one off as we had split up so first time if I was trying

BeanSprout79 · 30/10/2017 10:40

I was 37 when I got pregnant and it took us 5 years to get pregnant with first (mmc) and then 2 months after to get pregnant again which we weren’t trying for!!

Eryri1981 · 30/10/2017 10:49

36 and took 5 months, but really only 3 or 4 cycles as was spending time away from DH a lot seeing terminally ill dad and missed the crucial few days of one, if not two, cycles.

Now 26 weeks pregnant, and same as pp, very anxious during pregnancy, as everything seems like it's been too easy (apart from hyperemesis) and is too good to be true, and therefore something will go wrong. Also a lot of guilt as db and sil have had had multiple unsuccessful IVF attempts and are still trying :-(

demirose87 · 30/10/2017 10:52

20 with my first
26 with second
28 with third
29 with fourth

Polly99 · 30/10/2017 11:13

6 months for DD1 (probably fewer times we timed things correctly as DH was away a lot) . I was 30.

18 months for DD2. I had 3 losses during that time and was pregnant 4 times in a 9 month period. I got pg with DD2 3 months after one of my tubes was removed. I was 33.

7 years and counting for DC3. I’ve had 2 miscarriages (both abnormal pregnancies) and 2 rounds of IVF which looked successful (produced decent looking blastocysts) but no dice. I’m now 42 and can only assume my eggs are so raddled it’s game over. It’s pretty stark that my last viable pregnancy happened when I was ‘only’ 33.

Hi @LisaSimpsonsbff thanks! I've been wondering how your testing was
going. I was on prednisolone from ovulation and progesterone from bfp this time, and it worked for me. NHS told me it was just bad luck too and offered me nothing. Hope you get some answers and some good news soon - pm me if any questions x

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 30/10/2017 13:29

25 after 6 months of trying. Only 2 cycles though.
30 after 20 months of trying.

I have PCOS. When trying for DD1 I was put on metformin after 3 months of trying. With DD2 I wasn't on metformin. I had very irregular periods the first year and had a bit of a pattern to them for the last 8 months

SeamusMacDubh · 30/10/2017 19:06

22, had sex every night from the last day of my period and fell pregnant within that cycle. (We were super keen Grin)

24, had sex every other night from the last day of my period and fell pregnant within that cycle. (We were a bit more tired what with looking after a 1 YO)

T00ManyB00ks · 30/10/2017 19:07

34 and two cycles.

Hushabyelullaby · 30/10/2017 19:11

31 when I got pregnant, it took 11 months

jenp256 · 30/10/2017 19:17

26 and took a year, then when baby was 8 months old we found out we were having another without trying.

DillyDally15 · 30/10/2017 19:39

First: 27 years, 1st cycle
Second: 30 years, 1st and only shag!

Like some have already said, it can take a good year for a healthy couple to conceive. Most of my friends took anywhere from 3 months up to a year and a half to conceive naturally.

tararabumdeay · 30/10/2017 19:58

25 years old and 20 cycles
29 years old and 14 cycles

No intervention or ovulation testing. With DC2 we had decided to go to doc if nothing by October but it happened in August.

Once we knew we wanted to try every month nothing happened felt awful. I did test if I was ever late but always came up negative.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 30/10/2017 20:10

I have been pregnant 4 times aged 20, 26, 27 and 30, and each time I conceived immediately. The first was a condom- breaking incident plus MAP failure (grr) and I had an abortion. My second pregnancy ended in stillbirth at 41 weeks. It took 3 months to get my period back after that (and was waiting for post-mortem and various test results), but when I did I conceived the same month.

Enterthedragons · 30/10/2017 20:14

31 and 1 month
32 and 1 month
34 and 2 months

NoWordForFluffy · 30/10/2017 20:30

35 (almost 36) and 4.5 months (6 cycles).
