How long did it take you to conceive?

Just that really.
Me and my partner are trying to conceive our first child together.
I have two children aged 10 and 8 and he has a daughter who is 9. We all live together and are very happy so this would be the perfect thing to complete our family.
We have been trying since May.

Pregnancy 1: first cycle (aged 29)

Pregnancy 2: first cycle (aged 32)
(ended in early miscarriage)

Pregnancy 3: 10th cycle (aged 33)

Baby 2 8 months of ovulation sticks, sperm friendly lubricant and lots of dtd at right time

I've just bought some ovulation sticks so hopefully they will help.
I conceived first time with my older two but I was 23 and 24 then I am now 34.

Currently 29wks pregnant with my first baby at the age of 39yrs old! Took us 5-6mths after coming off the pill x

First baby: 2nd cycle off pill, age 25
This time: HOPING for the 2nd cycle again haha! Age 28. Fertile week here we come...

At 37 the first cycle. . At 42 the third cycle and 3 chemicals and a mc at 45. Given up now.

Third cycle, aged 28.

Second cycle with DD1 (aged 27), third with DD2 (aged 29).

I didn't realise I was pregnant with DD2 until mid way through what I thought was our fourth month of trying, so that felt longer.

DD- 4th cycle (I was 28)
DS- 8th cycle (I was 31)

Felt like forever with DS, I was tearing my hair out! We tried everything! In retrospect it wasn't that long at all but the rollercoaster of emotions every month is exhausting at the time.

1st time 2nd or 3rd month but I MC'd

2nd time took us over a year and in the end acupuncture made the difference

I then got pregnant when DS was 6 months & hadn't had a period yet as still breastfeeding. That ended in MC

Now pregnant again just over a year later.

Dh and I have one child.
I came off the pill in July 2014, I got pregnant in November 2014, so 4 months.

I was 22 at the time.

Using the odds of a 15% success rate each month (which may not be accurate, but best I could find) your odds of conceiving each cycle (assuming regular sex and no fertility issues) are as follows:

Cycle 1 - 15%
2 - 28%
3 - 39%
4 - 48%
5 - 56%
6 - 62%

with DD3 - 8 cycles, aged 29
with DS0- second cycle using Clearblue Advanced Fertility Monitor

So you’ve only just entered the phase where you’re more likely to get pregnant than not.

Some people will be in the minority and get pregnant in the first few cycles. Most will not.

But most will be pregnant within a year x

Only at the start of cycle 1 though, Nimble. It all resets once a cycle hasn't worked out. My statistician DH did my head in with his explanations while we were TTC!

@MelvinThePenguin same here! The odds of getting pregnant each month stay the same - but the cumulative effect of trying again means it gets more likely each time.

For example - you’re 85% likely to be not pregnant in cycle 1, but 85% x 85% likely to be not pregnant in cycle 2

Okay, that makes more sense (and is more positive) than the explanations DH gave me!

When he started on how likely the baby was to arrive on any given day, I stopped listening!

1st baby 11 months (age 26)
2nd was 3rd month
3rd?!? Have now not been using contraception for over a year but nothing....

Yeah, you basically need to allow 6 months just to get anything like decent odds.

Which is what I keep telling myself two cycles in

Three years and counting, starting IVF next month

First time was an accident with a condom (age 28)
Second time was the first time we had sex after deciding to try (I didn't have a sex drive so only did it once that month) age 31
Possible third time... period is late, condom came off right at the end but I've been stressed so it could just be really late (age 32)

DC1 probably about 3-4months .

DC2 2 weeks from starting TTC .

Pregnancy 1 - (age 27) cycle 1

Pregnancy 2 - (age 29) cycle 1 but ended in mc

Pregnancy 3 - (age 29) cycle 1

I have been extremely lucky but more so because when I was 27 I was told I would never naturally conceive. I was put on my first lot of fertility treatment and after 1 week of starting it found out I was already 7 weeks pregnant! And zero issues since!

DC 1 cycle 3 (age 28)
DC 2 cycle 1 (age 31)
DC 3 hopefully not very long...
