Just that really.
Me and my partner are trying to conceive our first child together.
I have two children aged 10 and 8 and he has a daughter who is 9. We all live together and are very happy so this would be the perfect thing to complete our family.
We have been trying since May.

We have been trying for just over 2 years and nothing. Tests have all come back normal so it’s unexplained. Will be starting IVF next year.

DailyMaileatmyshit · 17/12/2017 21:29

1st cycle (age 32) very, very surprised.

ChrisPrattsFace · 17/12/2017 22:00

So many first cycles!
I’m on cycle 7. Starting OPKs this week and have an appointment with the Dr tomorrow.
Hopefully I’ll come back soon with an actual answer!

Kintan · 17/12/2017 22:19

StiltonForDays · 17/12/2017 22:22

Third cycle at 30
Third cycle at 31

florafoxtrot · 19/12/2017 09:08

On Cycle 18 and nothing - will likely start IVF next year. Should NOT have read this thread.

MJordan I was in your situation a few years back (though my periods have always been irregular). I had a period in September/October and then nothing after that. We were TTC so tried not to think about it too much. I found out I was pregnant in Feb/March and had conceived around NYE, so yes, it's possible to conceive even if your periods aren't regular.

ApplesTheHare · 19/12/2017 09:18

MJordan posted too soon! Also meant to say try not to worry and fingers crossed for your bfp Flowers

Lofari · 19/12/2017 09:22

1st baby.....13 cycles.
2nd.....2 years and ended up on clomid... ended in Mmc.
3rd.....conceived naturally 2 months after MMC.
4th......unplanned happy accident.

Backhometothenorth · 19/12/2017 09:27

First month at 38 for dd1. Eight months for second pregnancy, six months for third but both ended in MMC at about ten weeks. Then we had all but given up after eight months of trying at age 42...then conceived dd2. I am 44 now and we have finishe.

All the best OP - it is such an emotional rollercoaster Thanks

DownNotOutt · 19/12/2017 09:57

Pregnancy 1 - cycle 4 but ended in MMC Sad
Waiting for cycle to return to try again.
Age 31.

OrangeCatnip · 19/12/2017 10:12

3rd Cycle using Clearblue fertility monitor. aged 30. Currently 31weeks pregnant!

It took us that long for the monitor to learn about my cycles (2 months) and we conceived on the first cycle where it was fully working. We actually DTD a day early so thought I had missed the opportunity that month but tested before my P due and voila.

I had bought the monitor as we had had a couple of friends have real problems conceiving, years in one case so had visions of having the same problems and not sure I could have dealt with the heartbreak. Once we had decided, that was it I wanted to be pregnant. Turns out I didn't need to worry. Would definitely recommend the fertility monitor though, it was with that our friends got pregnant after 3 years of trying. it isn't cheap tough :(

lovingfridays · 19/12/2017 10:20

Ds - 15 "busy" cycles
Dd - 1 single "event" Blush

LollaLaLuna · 19/12/2017 10:20

15 months- twins.

MJordan · 19/12/2017 10:28

@ApplesTheHare we got BFP just 2 days ago. I had a random inkling to take a test after I saw my nipples in the bath, changed a lot! (TMI sorry!)
We are so shocked! I have no idea how far along I am since my period hasn't come since 21st October... and we had the negative tests early November! Doctors appt on Thursday, hopefully that will give us more of an idea!
Christmas has come early to say the least! Xx

DoneAdulting · 19/12/2017 10:35

1st - unplanned surprise
2nd - 2.5 years and counting

ApplesTheHare · 19/12/2017 10:48

MJordan what a lovely surprise! Congratulations and I hope it all goes well. When we had no idea about conception date they did an extra scan to find out so fingers crossed they do the same for you Flowers

PirateWeasel · 23/12/2017 19:45

@NimbleKnitter - your post about cumulative odds is actually really comforting, so thank you! I realise that nature doesn't always follow logic, but it's a psychological boost to see that the odds aren't in your favour until six months and over. There's hope for me yet! How do you work it out, incidentally? Maths was never my strong point! x

Mrsjones17 · 23/12/2017 20:11

Wow lots of first cycles! Lucky ladies! 13 cycles later in trying everything possible and still no luck! The odds are not in my favour! Hmm

dancingunicorns123 · 23/12/2017 21:59

DS1 13 months later. Not trying

DD2 3 yrs 10 months later.

No contraception used from day started ttc until menopause.
Regular sex with DH and numerous tests of both of us. No reason ever found.

SnowFairyDust · 23/12/2017 23:10

DS - 4 months, I didn't know how to do it, nothing about fertile windows, ovulation etc etc Blush

Then read a book...

DD - About 10 minutes on first cycle!
