Coming off Cerazette to TTC

Hi,

I took my last pill on Thursday 17th August and since coming off I've had loads of pregnancy symptoms. Feeling tired, bloated, feeling sick, backache, stomach cramps, mood swings, sensitive to smells etc.

Whenever I've missed a pill before I've had a bleed straight away, even when I was ill on holiday I had a bleed (apparently due to pill not being absorbed properly). So far I've not had any bleeding at all since properly coming off the pill. Surely it's way too early to have pregnancy symptoms! Confused

Wooo amyleigh, congrats on your BFP!! 🥂

Kit1411 · 29/11/2017 19:54

Well I broke down in tears this evening over dinner, good job my DF is a good one, he could tell this morning I wasn’t myself and came home with hugs and chocolate. I know it’s pms as af is due Monday, I tested today BFN (I know it’s early and you’ll probably saw I’m not out til af arrives) but I know in my heart I’m not going to get a BFP this month despite dtd every other day for two weeks over the fertile period. I just don’t think I had enough CM. So I’ve got the primrose oil tablets and fertility lube so I’m prepared for next month. Least I can enjoy the Xmas market I’m going to and the 3 Xmas do’s I have and Xmas day of course with some wine. 😔 deep down I’m really disheartened though.

Kit1411 · 29/11/2017 19:55

To make it worse though one of the Xmas do’s will be all about my friend’s pregnancy news.

Kit1411 · 30/11/2017 13:49

So just had another friend announce she’s pregnant, that’s 4 friends now!

LifeOfRiley63 · 02/12/2017 21:00

Hang in there Kit, it'll soon be your day to be the one with the news. In the meantime, you can be smug with a glass of wine while they lick their lips in jealousy 😉

Kit1411 · 04/12/2017 12:33

Thanks lovely x

LifeOfRiley63 · 04/12/2017 18:01

Amyleigh, what was your cramping like for your first period? Its been 6.5 weeks now and over the last 2 days I have been in agony with cramps. But no actual AF! Did you have this?

Lora4ster · 11/02/2018 23:20

Hi, hope you don’t mind me joining the thread! I’m just abit worried as I came off cerazette 3 weeks ago and have not had a period yet 😩 I never thought I’d wish for it to arrive like this, but I’ve been on it for 15 years and I’m now hoping to convince. Any advice would be lovely thanks

lovesrunning · 12/02/2018 05:13

Hi Lora, obviously I couldn’t say how it will be for you but I don’t think you’re alone in that worry. I came off it after ten years in August and did a lot of googling and worrying! My GP said to go in and see her if nothing had happened in 3 months, but AF arrived in just under 3 months. The second one was 35 days later, the third one 26 days after that and I haven’t had a fourth cause I just had a positive test after starting ttc this month. I wouldn’t even want to guess how it will go for you but I think hearing this in August would have been very helpful for me so I’ve posted in case it can help put your mind at rest. Good luck!

Oops only just seen your question to me. I tested 2 weeks after coming off the pill and got a false negative. I then tested again 1 month later and got a positive. My first scan showed growth in line with pregnancy from 3 days after I stopped the pill. This was confirmed at dating scan.

I had been on the pill about 6 years prior to this with no days off for bleeding as had low egg reserve.

LifeOfRiley63 · 12/02/2018 08:29

Hi @Lora4ster
I don't want you to feel downhearted by this, but think 3 weeks is still early days. Some people can take up to 6 months for it to come back. I'm approaching month 4 after coming off Cerelle with not a snifter of a period or anything.
I would advise though, this happened with me and many many other women... You will likely feel EVERY pregnancy symptom under the sun in your first month off the pill. I convinced myself I was pregnant but it's your hormones returning back to normal (cruel trick ey?)
Stay positive and keep having fun! xxxx

TheSarahChronicles · 12/02/2018 08:32

@Lora4ster try not to fret, although it is super hard not to! Aunt Flo didn't turn up for me for 5 weeks, no withdrawal bleed either (this was after being on some form of the pill/implant for 11 years and always having a bleed if I even missed one pill!). I was going half insane doing pregnancy tests and thinking the worst it was awful! - it's incredibly frustrating! Three months later I've now got my BFP and we're expecting our first baby in October. Just try and stay positive if you can (I know thats a big ask having been through it myself) and if AF doesn't turn up after 3-6 months go to your GP and they can give you medication to kick start everything again 💕

Lora4ster · 12/02/2018 11:15

Thanks ladies! I really appreciate your reply’s, you’ve reassured me that it’s nothing to worry about and I’ll just enjoy the practise 😂 I’ll keep you updated x

MrsHolmes11 · 18/12/2018 11:39

Currently 40 days off of cerazette and I too am still waiting for AF to arrive. I'm being very impatient and just starting to panic now that something if wrong.
I have one son already who is 6 and have been on this pill since he was born (so 6 years). I just never believed I would ever be so desperate for a period!
