Thread 31, TTC1 | Jam and her dodgers still riding the bonking bus for that elusive BFP

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has well and truly worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Oh mouse that sounds awful. Poor you and poor pregnant lady too if she didn't want people knowing - 8 weeks is still so early. I had no idea how insensitive people could've until I started ttc. I'm on a whatsapp group with DH's big group of uni friends (about 20 of them) and two ha e just had babies in the last couple of weeks and there is a CONSTANT stream of photos and congrats messages every time I pick up my phone. I'm such a bitch I just want to leave the group!

flash I saw that thread and couldn't agree more. You just cannot have a hierarchy of pain and loss. Hope you're not feeling upset about it.

harrietm87 · 29/07/2017 07:28

So I don't normally do this and feel like I need to just calm down and stop being ridiculous, but I took a test today at 10dpo and think there is maybe a squinter of a line?! Am I going mad or can anyone else see it?

Kathrino · 29/07/2017 07:34

I don't want to give you any false hope harriet but I'm pretty sure I can see something too!!

QuietTime · 29/07/2017 07:35

I think I can see something harriet! When is/was AF due? Everything crossed - hope you have something to distract you til another test...

Kathrino · 29/07/2017 07:38

Sorry Flash, I got overexcited by the pic and didn't reply to you very rudely! Appointment was fine, pretty routine. I've got a relatively detailed treatment plan if anyone wants to see if :) We're off to France for 3 weeks of wine, cheese and sunshine. Can't wait.

Mouse, what an awful situation. Hope you're feeling okay this morning Flowers

harrietm87 · 29/07/2017 07:40

I don't know quiet as I had a stimulated cycle this time (took femara to bring ovulation forward) and apparently it can lengthen the luteal phase. My LP is normally 11/12 days so I'd expect AF Monday or Tuesday. I have to test at 10dpo though in order to know whether to continue taking the steroids I'm on (I have to stop after 10 days if not pregnant) and know whether to start progesterone. In my last pregnancies (all mcs) I didn't get a proper line until 11dpo, though not sure whether that's cos they were doomed to fail?

QuietTime · 29/07/2017 07:43

Ugh mouse that does not sound like fun...

Think will look into the job jam, but it's a long shot. But as with the car decisions, think I just need to get on with my life and think as if not TTC, else everything's just on hold forever

flash good for you for posting - and your run; glad to hear you're feeling better about things - it did seem like a really ignorant thing to say

Hope people have fun at their weddings - you're so much more sociable than me, I usually have to be dragged to them :)

But it is lovely to hear from the newly marrieds, skip and McT!

QuietTime · 29/07/2017 07:46

Oh wow Harriet am (appropriately) quietly excited...I guess you can only take 1 day at a time before you know for sure, but at least you have some treatment to support you now - hope you're able to enjoy the weekend xx

sk1pper · 29/07/2017 08:08

It doesn't look snowy white to me Harriet - if i got this I'd be pretty excited.

Scandalicity · 29/07/2017 10:19

Hi ladies - just nipping in to say there's definitely a squinter there Harriet, fx for you! I'm still following this thread and rooting for you all for your BFPs, wherever you are on your journeys Smile

Jamon · 29/07/2017 11:45

Can definitely see it too harriet - tentative congratulations lovely and hope to see a stronger line very soon !

Skipper glad the new job is going well, v exciting about your loft conversion

Mouse that sounds SO tough well done holding it together

Hallows gah how exciting getting your wedding dress! When's the big day?

Flash your response on that thread was thoughtful and compassionate. AIBU board is brutal.

Kath definitely not telling them this weekend , BIL and his fiancé are here so don't want some kind of weird family discussion. Funnily enough I'm drawn to talking to BIL about it more as he's a gp but I think DH would be mortified. What did you mean about the treatment plan - were you joking saying it's to eat cheese and drink wine in France? If so this is my kind of plan

OP posts:
Kathrino · 29/07/2017 15:47

Haha Jam, the wine and cheese is my own personal pre-treatment plan ;).

Seriously though, they gave me lots of bits of paper setting out the timeline and useful info (who knew you weren't allowed to wear perfume for the embryo transfer?!). Let me know if you want me to share it.

Jamon · 29/07/2017 16:07

I think I'm going to follow the August wine and cheese plan for sure Grin

I had never heard that about perfume ! How strange. We have our initial IVF appointment at the end of August so hopefully they'll be giving us this advice then - but it would be good to compare notes!

OP posts:
AlexiaB · 29/07/2017 16:25

CD1 for me today ughhhh. Also got baby-bombed by a friend. Typical!

Congrats Harriet. That looks like the start of a bfp to me!

Exciting that Sept/Oct is so close for those of you starting IVF. Jam I think it was you who asked me about treatment? We can only go private but we'll start with IUI. I don't know when though, probably not until March now Sad DH's visas has been a huge expense, we have a lovely big tax bill due in Jan, an over indulgent holiday in October, Christmas and then Rome in Feb. It's quite depressing really as it's going to take a miracle for anything to happen before then.

Mouse what a shitty situation. You handled it all very well Flowers

Kath your holiday sounds blissful. Have an amazing time.

Flash your reply was very well put. I can absolutely relate to the whole car thing too. We upgraded from a coupe to 4x4 in March 2015. It was supposed to be a family car- massive LOL

Welcome all newbies 🖐️

Love and Flowers to everyone else xx

McTufty sorry, you asked about my chart the other day. Thing is my charts are textbook and follow the same pattern every month. Once they drop, that's it. It always means AF is coming. I like it this was though as I don't need to be hopeful any more and I get most of my crying done before af even arrives.

This was an all natural cycle (no vitamins either, apart from folate). I'm proud of O on CD16 and a full 12 day LP. No bfp obvs but it would be nice if my cycles continued to be "normal" from now on.

That reminds me. Congrats on your crosshairs Mouse Star

sk1pper · 29/07/2017 16:40

So sorry about AF Alexia xx hope you can still enjoy the weekend despite this. Maybe buy some nice snacks, that's my go to treat when AF shows.

Pugmummy87 · 29/07/2017 16:55

Hello all.
Sorry have been awol, have bern struggling recently, christmas rota is being done at work and i burst into tears at a restaurant last week talking about it with DH because it should have been a very special christmas this year with a 3 month old. We've had quite a few baby bombs recently to and I've just needed to be away from it all.

Anyway, we have our clinic appointment in a month where hopefully they will say i can go onto clomid.

Also booked several weekends away, one in september to Liverpool (DH is in a tournament there) and we're also going to see Metallica at the 02 in October (i am ridiculously excited about this, they are my favourite band and i last saw them at Download festival in 2012).

Hope everyone is plodding along ok.

Tentative congratulations Harriet, i can see a line.

So my Stats:
Pug
30
TTC#1
Cycle 22? Ive lost count.
CD 24, doesn't appear i have ovulated yet.
Bmi has just dropped below 35 now, hoping to get it down more before 24th august.

Kathrino · 29/07/2017 17:17

Hello pug, I was wondering how you were. I'm so sorry that you've had such a tough few weeks, that sounds so hard. Wishing you the very best of luck for your appointment next month Flowers

Sorry that AF has arrived Alexia and the baby bomb - double whammy.

MouseLove · 29/07/2017 18:57

Thanks ladies, feel ok this morning, certainly not an evening I want to repeat though. I don't mind people taking about babies or even babies themselves actually but something about the early announcement really pressed my panic button.

Ah Harriet I can seeeee and I normally never see lines. 😊 keep taking those steroids missy Keep us updated.

Pug feel ya, I was sooo looking forward to this Christmas. Now, not so much. I think I've even put away a Dec or two with the tree stuff as we found out NYE last year that we were pregnant. Fml. I've also booked things & went to download in 2006,2007 🤘

Alexia sorry about AF. Sorry you're still here. But you have some awesome things to look forward to, remember that!!

Talking of booking things, I don't think I've mentioned that we're off to Madrid in September. We booked last month. I'm slighting shitting myself now though if we get a BFP before. Not really focusing on the possibilities as it feels too easy.

Ps. 4 DPO and symptom spotting like a TOTAL knobhead. 🙄

JeNeBaguetteRien · 29/07/2017 21:29

Sorry for baby bombs Alexia and Mouse. Especially on CD1 Alexia. I'm fed up of them, even had second hand baby bombs from 2 colleagues who are about to be grandparents and telling me every detail and asking if my parents would like to be grandparents since I've been married so long.
Glad you have your holidays to look forward to Alexia and Kath.

Harriet I can see a shadow of a line... Have everything crossed for you.

Pug sorry you're having such a difficult time. I'm on Clomid, the consultant was happy for me to try it before moving to IVF.

We are spending the weekend with friends with primary age kids, they're such good fun. The weather is grim for summer though, back in hotel now and having some 🍷.

Mouse I have family in Madrid, it's a fabulous city, the food is something else. Beautiful buildings and museums, lovely relaxed vibe in the bars. And good shopping too. Lucky you.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend all.

McTufty · 29/07/2017 21:45

Thanks @AlexiaB. That's great you've got the textbook chart, and now the "normal" luteal phase, hopefully that means your BFP will follow soon. Sorry about AF though, treat yourself to something nice this weekend Flowers

SmittenPears · 29/07/2017 23:11

So sorry about CD1, alexia. And a couple of brutal baby bombs today... f*ck.

Cautious congratulations, harriet!! I see the line! Crossing everything for you.

Temps are still high and no sign of AF. May test tomorrow if she doesn't show. (Cue immediate spotting now that I've mentioned it...!!)

harrietm87 · 30/07/2017 08:52

Hi everyone thanks so much for your support. Tested again this morning with FRER and IC and there are definite lines. Obviously my joy has immediately turned to worry and fear as I've been here 3 times before and it's ended badly, but will just wait and see. I'm not leaving you any time soon! Haven't even told DH yet (he's away til tomorrow night).

pug welcome back and congrats on the weight loss! Sorry it's been hard recently. Thinking of due dates and what could have been is just so sad.

alexia sorry too about the baby bomb. Your chart is absolutely perfect though, and you have so many things to look forward to - your amazing holiday is really soon now. TBH I don't really believe in all the stories where people tried for a while then went on holiday and "just relaxed" and it happened, but if that's going to happen to anyone it should be you!

mouse Madrid will be lovely, especially if you get a bfp! Fx for you!

bassetmum · 30/07/2017 08:52

Sorry about af alexia. Seems to be a lot of baby bombs around at the moment. Its so hard.

I have a quiet fx for you here harriet.

Jam I managed to get my journal up to date bar two days yesterday but grief is such a bizarre thing. I made scrambled egg on toast for breakfast and was about to plate up and then noticed the bread was mouldy. Ended up having a massive cry over scrambled egg!!! I thought I was doing really well with my grief but this weekend has been so hard I just want to give my dad a hug. I'm hoping my sisters anomaly scan on friday is positive and we find out if the baby is blue or pink.

kwick · 30/07/2017 09:10

Ladies apologies for going AWOL - not been feeling too good this week... like flu humming in the background 🤢

music!!!!! How are you doing?

hallows you could try full fat yoghurt and water if milk is not your thing?

struggle maintaining your usual exercise regime should be fine in 2WW but NO heavy lifting!!!

McTufty as I am on the TTC journey solo the only way the magic potion or embryo gets up there is via a catheter and speculum - that is why baths are out to avoid infection.

Thanks mouse! Had a mega binge on Monday so spent my birthday with a sugar hangover which then morphed into cold/flu

Salads are fine guys I am talking about ice cream/very cold items!

Welcome Harry!!

sk1pper I have been on decaff tea since 2015 - ration myself to one normal tea a day

jamon you will see how IVF work for you! BFP here you come!

Thanks flora!

Welcome holy!

Yipee mouse! What flavour cake was it?

basset keeping busy is good Flowers

Damn I missed the Friday positivity Envy

Harriet!!!!!! Have you tested again this morning?

Great pictures Alexia!
