Anyone ttc baby #2 in July?

Hi all,
Anyone ttc number 2?!

I know lots of you are so I thought I'd see if anyone in same boat wants to chat on a new thread?!

I chat to some lovely ladies on the monthly ttc buses....I know some are ttc their first baby (some with real difficulties like MC, or just for a long time) and I feel so bad to be worrying about conceiving #2 when I already have a lovely little one tucked up in his bed upstairs, when I'm sure they'd love to be in that position. (Not that they'd ever say anything or show any resentment, as they're all lovely and just as supportive whether people are trying for 1st or 5th!!!)

It is a bit different though, different emotions... grateful for what you have but longing to be a mummy again... and different challenges (trying to fit in dtd when you have a little person sabotaging your efforts and popping up to demand a drink/teddy/phantom tummy ache, I swear he has a radar for it!)

So I just wondered if anyone wanted to chat who's in same boat ttc #2, as it can also be hard when you desperately want to have another baby, to give your others a sibling, and it's seemingly not happening...

I'm ttc#2 (ds just turned 3)
Age 36
Cycle 5 (af just ending). Feeling disappointed but hopeful ...

Good luck all ttc whatever number you're on!

Welcome Squashy, Kashy and 1000.

1000 - sorry for your loss. Flowers I suffered two early losses when ttc DS, but it's taken so long this time round without even a whiff of a BFP that I think I would fall to bits if that happened again.

I can definitely identify with feeling/ being less healthy this time around. I'm also a good 6/7kgs heavier than I was when ttc last time around which I'm sure doesn't help, but 8 cycles down and the monthly rollercoaster means that I'm struggling to motivate myself to do anything about it.

I also don't think sleep deprivation (caused mainly because I struggle to find enough hours in a day...) or the sugar consumption I typically engage in to compensate helps.

Mynameis - I hope your GP is sympathetic this morning. Do let us know how you get on. I shall be rooting for you. Loving the idea of digging out the punchbag!

Silversun83 · 29/06/2017 09:10

Sorry to hear those struggling with recovery after birth.. Despite what they say about csection recovery, I think I got off lightly compared to some friends who had bad tears etc.

Squashy.. I definitely hear you on the less healthiness! Before we had DD, I was a 20-mile a week runner, bordered on obsessive about healthy eating, always drank my 2-3 litres of water a day, 8/9 hours a night sleep.. Ha ha ha!! I've not been a big drinker for a while, but I consume way way too much sugar and caffeine, often have a fishfinger or ready meal dinner, am lucky if I go out for a monthly run (though have recently bought a running buggy so that is helping!), and sleep..?!

Is anyone due to test soon by the way? Any symptoms?!

Silversun83 · 29/06/2017 09:12

Mynameis.. Hope it goes well at the GP today, let us know what they say.

MynameisJune · 29/06/2017 10:24

Well the Dr was pointless. I was referred by the nurse from a throwaway comment I made at my smear test. Basically I never get a positive on an OPK. Not once, I've been doing them since Christmas (we were not trying but not preventing until March) and I've never had a positive. When I mentioned this as a 'I must have a faulty batch' she said I should speak to the Dr because it's not normal and likely I'm not ovulating.

Anyway saw the Dr and they won't do anything until we've been trying a year. Looks like we will have to go private to find out for definite. I'm really annoyed and upset as it would be such a simple thing for a blood test but nothing.

1000jobstodo · 29/06/2017 11:09

Thanks Cariad I think I've found it hard as I had symptoms so early on that for 3 weeks I felt and was pregnant, just not implanting properly. Sorry for your losses too- hoping this month is your month.

Good luck to everyone! Anyone else wish they could shorter each month by two weeks just to get rid of the tww? Doesn't help playing Barbies every day where my dd plays the mummy having a baby and making her dd very very happy to be a big sister. Confused not a hint at all.

Silversun83 · 29/06/2017 14:51

Oh no, sorry the GP wasn't much help Mynameis. Can I just ask what OPKs you're using? I've been casually trying the Internet cheapies but I find them quite temperamental and I've never got more than a hint of a line.. Whereas before I used the Clear Blue duel hormone ones and without fail got a static smiley each month. I know people obviously use the cheapies successfully but I've always struggled.. Might be worth giving the Clear Blue one a try first if you haven't already? Though if you do end up going privately, fingers crossed a day 21 blood test shouldn't be too pricy.

Aw, bless your DD 1000. Amazing how switched on and intuitive they are at such a young age. And yes, time just suddenly seems to halt to a standstill during the 2WW! For all I've said about being relaxed and despite not checking Ovia, I can't seem to forget what CD I am on!! It seems to now be ingrained in my memory.. I think I'm at a similar point of my cycle to you. Are you planning to test before AF is due?

MynameisJune · 29/06/2017 17:40

Thanks Silversun, I was using the clear blue and never got a smiley face. I've ordered some more and going to try them again in case I have been really unlucky with a bad batches!

1000jobstodo · 29/06/2017 19:46

I would give that a go mynameis - hoping this is the case and it was a bad batch of tests for you. What cycle number is this for you?

I know Silversun, they are so intuitive! Dd also has an imaginary baby brother, just to rub salt into the wound a little more Grin of course she has no idea that I can't simply order a baby from a catalogue.
I think I'm 4dpo and due on 9th. I think I'll cave around about the 6th/7th. This is usual practice for me... If I can delay then I will! How about you? What date will you test?

Silversun83 · 29/06/2017 20:15

Aw, fingers crossed though have always known of them to be pretty reliable. If still no joy, might it be worth trying to see another GP before you go down the private route? Hopefully someone a bit more sympathetic! Is there perhaps one at your surgery with a specialism in women's health..? What were your cycles like previously?

1000.. That's pretty good going Grin I'm also due on 9th and I think also around 4DPO.. Though mainly just judging that by body symptoms! It's only my first cycle so not sure if I will test early or not yet.. I think it will depend on if I have any symptoms or not. I was a crazy POAS-er with DD though.. Even after AF arrived.. You know, just in case it was a big implantation bleed Blush It took almost a year and I honestly dread to think how much I spent on tests!! The cycle we did conceive I had a pretty strong positive on 11DPO though it was probably the only cycle I didn't think I was pregnant! I only tested for something to do because I was feeling really restless.. Must have been my subconscious telling me! Remind me what cycle you're on?

1000jobstodo · 29/06/2017 20:39

Haha Grin it's completely consuming isn't it- I can imagine testing after af 'just in case'! How old is your Dd now?
We can be poas buddies. Keep each other strong and stop ourselves from testing too early. I plan on selotape-img my hands together this time next week. I'm on cycle 3 now. The earliest I've tested this time around is 10dpo and I drove myself mad comparing my fading lines. So I'm going to try to
Leave until 12dpo.

Can't wait to start seeing lines on this thread!

Silversun83 · 29/06/2017 21:18

Oh, definitely.. She's only 13 months and originally we weren't going to start TTC again before August as I didn't think I could cope with an age gap of less than two years.. But kind of unofficially started at the weekend Blush A tiny part of me probably won't be too disappointed if we're not successful this month as like you've said about your DD, ours is, erm, 'challenging'! Grin She's such a happy toddler most of the time, but oh my goodness, literally crazy Grin Just 100mph! But as it took a while last time we thought we should probably just go for it..

Sounds like a plan! We can do it! Do you have any tests in the house? I'm going to try and refrain from purchasing any..

Cariad2017 · 29/06/2017 21:40

Sorry your GP appointment was so frustrating Mynameis. Sending BrewCakeFlowers your way. I definitely think you should try a new batch of opks this cycle, just in case. Have you considered acupuncture to regulate your cycles? It might be worth a shot, in case that's the kick start your body needs.

Good luck this cycle Silver and 1000. I'm already looking forward to the POAS party (I'm only on CD2 at this end, so a long way from any form of excitement this cycle...)

Solidarity with those whose bodies were trashed by their first pregnancies. I suffered a third degree tear and despite physio have had a pretty weak pelvic floor ever since, so I'm slightly dreading the impact another pregnancy might have on it... I also ended up being induced at 37 weeks with DS due to OC, so I'm worried I might be destined for another high risk pregnancy... Assuming of course, I ever get there. It will SO be worth it in the end, and I would LOVE DS to have a sibling.

MynameisJune · 29/06/2017 22:10

Thanks 1000 and silversun. This is officially cycle 4 now where we have been actively trying. Unofficially it's cycle 7 as Dec - Mar we weren't trying as my DH was working away but we were not using any contraception.

My cycles have always been pretty regular, used to be 25/26 days with ov around CD11/12. It's been since Christmas that they haven't settled, which is when I stopped bf'ing but also when I went back to work which has been incredibly stressful.

I don't think our surgery has any specialists but I might call and ask for an appointment with a female, might be more interested and not ask me 'what could cause that' when I bring up secondary infertility.

Cariad, I haven't tried acupuncture. I'm not sure I could get over my needle phobia long enough to let them near me!!!

Cariad2017 · 30/06/2017 00:25

Mynameis - I can definitely identify on the work stress front. If there's a sole culprit for my failure to get upduffed this time round, I suspect it's that (and the resulting lack of sleep I'm getting)...

I shall be keeping everything crossed that your cycles regulate soon. In the meantime, do have a go at finding a more sympathetic GP to speak to at your surgery.

HazelRah · 30/06/2017 08:39

Hi all! Welcome newbies!
Lots of folks here now very excited for testing time!
I'm CD9 now and the CBFM has started promoting me to do OPKs...
@Lopey I read that book you recommend so I'm going to really try and follow the advice to BD on the last day of 'high' and the first day of 'peak'. Apparently the second automatic peak reading is a bit misleading and will probably be too late.
Fingers and toes crossed for a longer luteal phase this month... Have been unable to see the doctor as he's on holiday... How inconsiderate, doesn't he know I'm on a time scale here!! 😂😂

Silversun83 · 30/06/2017 09:33

Cariad, sounds like you had a tough few last weeks with your previous pregnancy.. Are you more likely to get OC this time because you had it last time?

Hazel.. How totally inconvenient of him! Grin How long is your luteal phase? Last time mine started off at only around 9-10 days, if I was lucky 11, then the cycle before we conceived it extended to 13 days for some reason. By that point I'f been on a cocktail of supplements like B6, Royal Jelly and Co-enzyme Q10 for a few months so maybe that made a difference?! No idea how long exactly it is this time but I think probably around 11/12 days

MynameisJune · 30/06/2017 10:35

Cariad sorry your work is stressful too, it has never affected my cycles before but it's a big coincidence if it isn't work!

Hazel how very rude of your Dr, don't they realise the importance Grin

HazelRah · 30/06/2017 10:58

It's only been 8 days for the last two months :'-( so not much chance of a bfp here. I've got some new vitamins though and might head out in a bit to try and find some coQ 10. Thanks for the recommendation! Good luck you guys :-)

1000jobstodo · 30/06/2017 20:33

Sorry, what's 'OC'? I've just worked out what BD is Grin

I had SPD in last pregnancy from around 24 weeks. Advice was to leave it three years between pregnancies for fear of doing permanent damage to my joints. I saw a lady today hobbling along on crutches, heavily pregnant with a toddler in tow. She looked like she could do with some pain killers. I hope that I'm not in the same situation!

Silversun I have cheapy dip tests but no actual poas tests. I don't have any because I use them the second I can...
Oh 13 months, that'll be a lovely age gap. Like you say- if things take a while (hopefully not) you'll still get the small age gap you're after.
Looks like my gap will be 4 years! Pros and cons to every gap though.

So who's due to test first then?

CoconutGal · 30/06/2017 20:57

Hey! TTC number 2. DD is 10yrs old so definitely time we had another! AF has just finished so I think we are entering the first cycle. TTC since January but AF was non existent until this month. Shall be tracking my ovulation & keeping an eye on this thread for help with when to test etc.

Good luck everyone! Star

Cariad2017 · 30/06/2017 23:07

1000 - OC stands for obstetric cholestasis. It's where your liver function goes haywire (typically in the final trimester of pregnancy). It's associated with an increased risk of stillbirth, hence the early induction with DS (but much depends on how severely you get it).

It is genetic, so there is a good chance I will get it again, although as with everything pregnancy related, it can vary from pregnancy to pregnancy, so there is a chance I could avoid it...

HazelRah · 01/07/2017 06:40

@Carissa I haven't heard of that before, sounds very scary . Good luck!

@1000 I'll end up with a 4 year gap as well. My brother and I have a 4 year gap though and we get on really well. Also I was thinking if I've child is at school you have a bit more time to focus on child two. I would have rather had a smaller gap but there are pros and cons I guess!

HazelRah · 01/07/2017 06:40

Argh that was supposed to be @Cariad... Stupid autocorrect!!

HazelRah · 01/07/2017 06:41

Welcome along @coconut! Lots of luck to you :-)

LopeyLopez · 01/07/2017 13:45

Hello lots of new people!

Like someone else said, can't wait to start seeing lines on this thread.....there are so many of us now, come on, it has to happen!! Lots of PMA! July is the month!

CD 6 for me now. This is what I have been thinking the last few days:

In order to not go mental during the tww this time round - convincing myself every little feeling is a "symptom", and by the end of it just "knowing" I am pregnant (but am not!) - I started trying to notice anything that felt a bit different even now, BEFORE ovulation.......and guess what?! It's all the same stuff! So I really need to calm down and not assume everything is pregnancy related in two-three weeks from now. For example: slight headache; lower back pain; twinges in ovary area; more cm; blah blah blah....all the things, they are here NOW!! This has really brought it home to me that a lot of it is in my head and wishful thinking.

Note to self: do not go crazy with symptom spotting this cycle. Can I manage it?!?!?! I think not...!
